To Be a Hero

What is a Hero?

Some might say that a Hero is someone who sacrifices, who fights, who dies. Who does things for the Greater Good of All. A Hero is an ideal, one that we all strive for. A Hero is able to bring hope to people, just by being there.

Then what does that make us? This world isn't so black and white, it is just a very large puddle of grey. There are heroes, there are villains, and there are those who seem to have no affiliation one way, or the other.

You are all here for a reason. A very simple reason: to be a Hero. Whatever your past, it is the future that matters now. You are here to fight evil, and to be something that doesn't exist; to be a true, and honest, hero.

You must be up for the task. Or all will suffer for it.





Hello, and welcome to my newest attempt at an RP: To Be a Hero. This is a Multiverse RP sorta deal, meaning you can app as characters both original or from other universes, though I am saying right now that overpowered characters are not going to be allowed. The above excerpt was a speech said by the Clairvoyant, a powerful individual capable of bringing people from various universes together... among other things.

The Clairvoyant has assembled a team to be heroes, true heroes, and save the multiverse from an unknown threat that is trying to rip it apart. It doesn't matter if you RP a hero, villain or what-have-you, if your character is here, then the Clairvoyant saw something within them; something that made the Clairvoyant think they could be a true hero to the multiverse.

I. I am Thy OP, Thy God, and Thou Shalt Not Have Any Gods Before Me. (OP's Word is Law.)
II. Thy OP Shalt Have Co-OPs; Thy Co-OPs Speak with the Word of OP, and Shall Be Obeyed. (Co-OP's Words are Law {Unless I overrule them.}.)
III. Thou Shalt Not Godmod, Nor Metagame, Nor Destroy the Standard Etiquette of Roleplay. (No Godmodding, etc.)
IV. Thy Characters Art Not God. (Be Realistic. For real. If your character dies, they be dead.)
V. Ye Who Break the Commandments Shall Invoke the Wrath of OP, and Suffer. (If you break a rule, ya get a consequence; do it too much, and the Clairvoyant uses one of his powers to somehow kill off your character.)

Personality: The Clairvoyant comes across as calm, collected and intelligent. They aren't impatient in the slightest.
Sexuality: None.
Appearance: The Clairvoyant's appearance varies from person to person, but they are usually in the form and shape that most fits the belief system/religious system for 'god' of a given individual; or, if that makes a person uncomfortable or the person isn't religious, they appear as a man or woman dressed in a white suit, of variable race, species, etc.
Species: Unknown.
Powers:
  • (Apparent) Omniscience: The Clairvoyant has an apparent omniscience. There is very little that they don't know, especially about the individuals they brought to fight as heroes.
  • (Apparent) Omnipresence: The Clairvoyant seems almost omnipresent; at least, within the universe/hub center that they brought people to. They can even exist in multiple locations at once, and hold multiple conversations.
  • (Apparent) Reality Warping: Not quite omnipotent, or even nighomnipotent, but still extremely powerful and able to warp reality; hence how the Clairvoyant summoned everyone to their hub center.


Weaknesses: {REDACTED}.
Biography: The Clairvoyant is an ancient being that has watched over the Multiverse for almost as long as they have existed. Sensing a threat that is beyond their knowledge or capability to defeat, the Clairvoyant has summoned heroes, villains and others from across the multiverse to fight and protect the Multiverse. Most information about them is unknown.

Character Name(s): Alexander J. Mercer {ZEUS; The Monster of New York Zero}
Age: Approx. 34; depending on appearance.
Sex: Usually male.
Personality: Alex is abrasive and generally aggressive. Not truly feeling much empathy or sympathy for humanity, he still has issues with the fact he lost to James Heller. But what pisses him off most is that he exists only because the Clairvoyant brought him here.
Sexuality: None.
Appearance: Alex with his claws out. Bio-Armor Form. Can shapeshift, so appearance may vary.
Species: Evolved.
Powers:
  • Shapeshifting: Mercer's Blacklight infection has granted him the ability to both shapeshift and fashion his body into weapons. He can also shapeshift into anyone he's ever consumed, or mix up the genetics to create completely different forms. He also has variable bio-armor forms, an example of which is seen above.

  • Superhuman Strength: His incredible strength allows him to lift and destroy cars, trucks, tank turrets, APCs, and helicopters and throw them great distances, as well as leave craters in the ground with punches. He is far stronger than any normal human or most basic Infected, able to pulverize both with a single, glancing blow. Mercer is capable of punching holes through almost anything if necessary, including reinforced steel doors.

  • Superhuman Speed: Mercer's speed is likewise enhanced. He can achieve running speeds surpassing any vehicles including Helicopters, he can also run up walls.

  • Superhuman Agility: He can perform amazing parkour feats such as flips and rolls and maneuvers over and around vehicles and debris with little trouble. His leg strength allows him to leap nearly ten stories into the air. Mercer is also capable of gliding, by ejecting small amounts of mass for further propulsion.

  • Superhuman Endurance: Mercer's endurance far exceeds that of a human's by leaps and bounds. His body no longer possesses weak bones or vital organs, rendering him immune to otherwise debilitating injury. This biological change allows him to survive falls from any height completely unharmed. Bullets of any caliber will pass through his body, causing very little damage that heals instantly. He can withstand direct hits from rockets, hellfire missiles and tank shells, which cause only moderate damage. His superhuman stamina allows him to be physically active at all times without tire.

  • Superhuman Senses: Mercer's vision and hearing are enhanced, allowing him to see beyond the visible spectrum and hear across great distances even with physical insulation. He has thermal vision which allows him to locate heat signatures, and infected vision which can detect large concentrations of the virus and tap into the hive mind itself.

  • Healing Factor: Mercer's body has vast powers of self-regeneration. So long as he is properly nourished, Mercer can restore his health and heal any wounds within moments. He can heal a small amount of his health even without consuming any creature. Examples include regenerating bullet wounds instantly after being shot, regenerating a massive hole in his face after being shot point-blank by General Randall, and reconstructing his entire physical form from non-descript piles of biomass and the biomass of a crow within minutes of being blown apart by a nuclear explosion. Mercer also seems to have a robust immune system.

  • Adaptability: The Blacklight Virus is capable of adapting itself to certain elements after a continuous exposure to said element. For example, in the comic book, after being inhibited and slowed down by more than 10Gs of gravitational force he then walked away from it as if the force never even existed.


Weaknesses:
  • Biomass Limitation: Mercer requires biomass to fuel himself and most of his powers. The less biomass he has, the less powerful he is overall, to the point that if he's made up of nothing but a pile of small bits and pieces of biomass that he needs to regenerate, or else he'll die.

  • Temporary Adaptations: Mercer's adaptations are usually temporary, as it is usually for in-the-moment situations.

  • Inhumanity: Mercer isn't human and struggles to empathize with humans.

  • Water: As Mercer is formed up of pure biomass, being drowned in water too much will begin to dissolve his biomass and virus, especially salt water. He could probably attempt to adapt to it, but it is presumed that he is incapable of doing so.

  • Fire: Extreme heat and fire can cause damage to him, even in his Bio-Armor form; though the damage does get lessened in his bio-armor. It burns away at his biomass and virus, as well, and extreme heat can melt him down.

Biography: Full Bio Here. Revived by the Clairvoyant when summoned to the hub/center, and selected to lead one of the teams to help save the Multiverse, Alex has become somewhat distraught. After all, his goals had failed, the Evolved were all gone, and he was now alone. On the other hand, he never had to see James Heller again - and he wasn't sure how he felt about that.

Alex hopes that whenever he's done with this that the Clairvoyant will send him home, so he can at least try to live out the rest of his life in peace. Then again, maybe he can start over again, and claim revenge. He isn't sure which he wants to do, yet.

Character Name: Vorian Hankshaw [Alias- Warhead]
Age:22
Sex: Male
Personality: Vorian is a quiet, smart person, he is nice when he wants to be and hateful when necessary.
Sexuality: N/A
Appearance: Tall muscular, white haired man with long arms, big feet, small ears, and green eyes.
Species: Human

Powers:

Telekinesis: He first learned he was 9 when his unknown father told him about this ability. However he practiced it on his own everyday especially in school which made helped him get straight A's every semester.


Super Hearing: When he was 6 he adapted this when he started to hear a voice, he followed it and it led to a man on TV on a whole different farm not far away. He soon learned if he directly concentrated in his mind he could listen to anything within a certain range.


Weaknesses

Telekinesis: He has to use energy of some sort for this to fluenty work. If over uses it then will pass out and if he continuously over uses it he may go into a coma. Signs are, his brain aching or trouble thinking.


Super Hearing- He cannot listen to multiple voices at once in this stage. If he does it'll cause his eardrum to deteriorate and cause him to go deaf. Signs are, ear aching, trouble hearing, ringing within the ear, or repetitive voices.


Distraction- Vorian can get distracted easily especially if he catches on to a voice or becomes curious on another one's thought. He also can get distracted by simple noises and strange items.


Influence- Vorian can also be very influenced by any convincing story. He has been influenced to do several things and a major one is drinking, his father encouraged him to drink during certain times but he does it every so often. Influence is one of his main weaknesses.


Hearing- Once in a while his hearing can be a major problem, this is because of his use of over super hearing or listening in on multiple conversations. His hearing will either temporarily deterioate or he will temporarily hear voices over and over again when not concentrating. He can also gain terrible ear aches which cause temporary hearing lost.




Biography:
Not much is known about Vorian's background. His mother was Elisa Hankshaw, a school guidance consulor and his father, James Hankshaw a wealthy businessman, and owner of Hankshaw Enterprises.

Vorian attended several private schools but always had to be moved due to fighting, skipping classes, or just not completing work. He always wanted to do sports but regardless of his fantastic grades he almost never turned in important work.

When he learned of his superpowers, he got into more trouble..He always eavesdropped on conversations miles away and read almost anyone's thoughts. He began to read comics about heros that have his powers and he began to adapt and use them more maturely. His birthdate is unknown but birthplace was Edenton, North Carolina in the U.S. Vorian currently resides in his father's manor.

Vorian has never really thought of himself a hero due to his low class powers. But uses them to his advantage and maybe once hear or there uses them badly but he has surely matured with them. And he found his weaknesses the hard way.

Home Universe: Earth


Vorian one day walking down the streets of his town in Edenton overheard a conversation between two drug dealers, when both of them entered a door to strange building in an alleyway he followed. The room was full of people making cocaine, and 12 guards armed with an mp5 and a 6 shooter pistol. He went back outside, found a rock and threw it inside, he gambled and hoped only one guard come out, he was correct and immediately used his self taught CQC(Close Quarter Combat) skills on the guard. He undressed the guard down to his underwear and threw him in a dumpster. He then put the guard's clothes on and walked in. Several guards looked suspicious at him but just thought he was a new gunman or something. Vorian took out his Colt along with the 6 shooter he took from the guard and shot the cocaine to make a cloud thick enough they wouldn't see him. He however tracked down every guard in the room using his super hearing and knocked them out with the butt of his colt. The workers were almost blinded and had no idea what was going on. Vorian quickly called the police to his location before the workers could escaped, he then dropped the phone outside and ran away.

Character Name(s): Six; Maren Elizabeth (which she hates); Starla (which she likes, but prefers Six)

Age: 19

Sex: Female

Personality: She has a tomboyish personality, and often comes across as blunt or violent (which she is). She loves to train and even more to win, and is almost always cool, calm, and collected. Her hatred of feeling helpless probably spurs on her need to be the best, as well as her inherent bloodlust towards those she hates (including Mogadorians).

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: "Six is olive skinned with stark hazel eyes that sometimes looks blue and sometimes green, naturally black hair, a wide mouth and high cheek bones" (from the wiki page).

Species: Loric

Powers:
  • Superhuman Strength, Speed, Endurance, Dexterity, Durability, Senses, and Hearing: She is far stronger than even the strongest human, able to carry cars with ease. Her enhanced speed also makes her faster than any human, and even cars. Her endurance and durability allow her to fight for hours on end, and she rarely gets tired. Her senses and hearing are likewise enhanced; when she focuses, she can hear from across a football field.
  • Telekinesis: Like the previous abilities, she shares this one with all Garde. She can carry almost anything with her telekinesis, although attempting to fly with it results in shaky, unsteady levitation that can only be held for a very short period of time.
  • Invisibility: She has the ability to turn her whole body invisible, as well as anything she touches (this includes other people or objects, but they must be touching her; touching someone else who is invisible will not work).
  • Atmokinesis (Weather Manipulation): Her most powerful abilities, Six can bring Mother Nature to her knees. She can control the ocean and seas, fire (although its limited), lightning and storms, the wind, but cannot cause earthquakes.


Weaknesses:
  • Arrogance: Her main weakness, she believes it is almost impossible to beat her and that anyone who can is just lucky. As a result, she sometimes doesn't use the fullest extent of her abilities, just to prove she's that much better than her opponent.
  • Bloodlust: Six loves the thrill of battle, and will actually go easy on her opponent just to make the fight last longer.
  • Dreynen: A rare legacy of the Garde, this can take away all of her legacies, either through a legacy-cancelling field or Dreynen-charged objects. Neither affect other Dreynen users (which she is not).
  • Impatience: She gets frustrated easily, even with friends, and will often go off on her own when she feels things are happening too slow.
  • Other Vulnerabilities: Although she is an alien, she still has human emotions and feelings. She is in love with Sam (from her own universe) and wants to get back to him desperately, although she may not show it, so she'll rush through the Clairvoyant's mission. She is also not invincible; she can stop bullets, but can't block what she doesn't know is coming.


Biography: Almost full biography here. After the Fate of Ten, Six and the rest who were at the Sanctuary go to the secret government base and meet with the rest of the Garde. She apologizes for Sarah's death, reunites with Sam and they stay at the base for a while. She, along with some others, go to Niagara Falls, pick up some human Garde, and Ella disables the Loric gemstone. Nothing important happens until later, when she and the rest of the Garde assault the main Mogadorian ship and base in West Virginia. She pulls up a powerful hurricane right on top of the Anubis (the Mogadorian ship) and manages to bring it down through its force field. She also assaults the base with the others, getting mortally injured by one of the augmented Mog's tentacles. After most of the injured Garde escape, she finds out that John is alone fighting the Mogadorian leader, and goes to him, finding all his flesh torn out and just him on the ground. She escapes with him, and it is later revealed she is vacationing with Sam.

During her vacation with Sam, after John dropped off the Loralite pendant that allows her to teleport to the Loric Cave in India, she gets pulled out of her home universe into the main command center by the Clairvoyant. She sees them as Lorien itself, and thanks them for helping them win the war (even though she personally believes it did nothing besides make the human garde). The Clairvoyant reveals itself, and she, infuriated, attempts to attack him, failing miserably. Even angrier, she demands they let her go home, back to where she belongs, and agrees to go along with their mission with the promise that she be sent home afterwards.

It's more for if you want your character to have a partner or something, but don't want to treat the secondary character as an actual character.

Also, in case you want to app an NPC villain/antagonist for your team to run into. Or a helper along the way in a given mission.

Age: 53 (Her youthful 20s-ish appearance is thanks to rejuvenat drugs. Thanks, rejuvenat drugs!)

Personality: Despite the horrors of psyker training, Lisbet is a Mordian to the core, and though she didn't join the Iron Guard until after her training as a psyker on Terra, she makes an exemplary Mordian. An uncomplicated and efficient person, with a strong belief in order. Impatient. Psyker training and her early career as a Psyker among her fellow Iron Guards left her with a somewhat short temper as it took a while for them to allow her back on the front lines.
Sexuality: Lesbian
Appearance: Rangy and slender, with a curved figure that is curvy, but not bangin-swangin-bootylicious curvy. Kinda boney actually, with a Roman nose. A head taller than the average Mordian, which isn't saying much (6'1") but the growth was recent as it was a result of warp fuckery during her psyker training. Her hair is dyed, she was actually surprised the Iron Guard even allowed it to be - while originally the same red it is now, the process of psyker training bleaches hair white down to the genes. Her psy-hood is built into her cap.

Powers:
  • E-level Psyker - Lisbet is on the upper end of strength for the average psyker, strong enough to be sent into direct combat instead of rotting away on the sidelines doing whatever an Inquisitor would have her do. She has the basic psyker abilities, plus the ones unique to her discipline of Telekinesis.
    • Call Creature - /summon Animals. Most non-intelligent (Dogs or lower) animals can be mind controlled as well.
    • Chameleon - Blend in with surroundings by bending the light around oneself. Doesn't work very well against anyone with decent-or-better psychic abilities, and Lisbet doesn't have much practice with it anyway.
    • Dull Pain - Psychic morphine for oneself or others without the addiction or the actual high.
    • Fearful Aura - Exactly what it sounds like.
    • Flashbang - Also exactly what it sounds like.
    • Float - Lisbet can levitate above the ground as high as 5 meters or so. Can also be used to cushion falls.
    • Forget Me - Lisbet generates a psychic Somebody Else's Problem field around herself.
    • Healing - Less useful than you think without dedicating oneself to the Biomancy school of psychic training, which Lisbet hasn't.
    • Inflict Pain - LET ME HEAR YOU SCREEEEAAAAM!
    • Inspiring Aura - The opposite of Fearful Aura. Causes Simon to grit his teeth.
    • Psychic Stench - Psychically imbube something with stank.
    • Resist Possession - Exactly what it sounds like. As an Epsilon-rank Psyker, Lisbet is pretty good at this.
    • Suggestion - You'd be amazed what you can get people to do if you just ask them kindly.
    • Sense Presence - A vague sense of where living things are in a certain area. Must be activated to use, like an active pulse sonar.
    • Torch - Glowing psychic ball of whatever.
    • Unnatural Aim - ONE SHOT ONE KILL BAYBE (actually not as impressive as you'd think).
    • Wall Walk - Pfft, screw gravity.
    • Warp Howl - a REEEEEE heard both mentally and auditorially
    • Wither - Kills plants dead.
  • Biomancy - One of the schools of Psychic training and one of two Lisbet is trained in, though she mostly uses Telekinesis as she only knows two things from the Biomancy branch, besides how to put away food and not gain weight. Biomancy is mostly used for healing, manipulating flesh, and shooting lightning.
    • Blood Boil - Exactly what it sounds like. Can be done slow for subtlety, or fast for お前はもう死んでいる.
    • Hammerhand - ATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATAAAAAAA! Channeling the power of the Warp to enhance one's fists and kicks to incredible effect in both speed and strength. Lisbet mostly focuses on speed and precision, however.
  • Telekinesis - Lisbet's main field of expertise when it comes to psychic powers. Exactly what it sounds like, but more versatile than just plain telekinesis.
    • Catch Projectiles - Works better with slow-moving projectiles. Also works against melee weapons.
    • Fling - Toss up to 10 kg like a baseball, and at a similar speed.
    • Force Bolt - The power to kill a yak (or more) with mind bullets.
    • Force Barrage - The power to kill several yaks at once with mind bullets.
    • Precision Telekinesis - Because sometimes finesse is better than raw strength.
    • Psychic Blade - A blade of psychic energy a molecule thick, folded ten trillion times. Filthy xeno go home.
    • Psychic Crush - Be careful not to choke on your aspirations.
    • Push - The power... to move you.
    • Telekinesis - Picking things up and putting them down with mind powers.
    • Telekinetic Shield - What it sounds like.
Weaknesses:
  • Catch Projectile does a grand total of fuckall against energy weapons or energy bolts.
  • Psychic Blade requires heavy concentration to use as failure to remember where it is leads to lacerations, and failure to keep it contained leads to the psychic energy losing containment. Violently.
  • Focusing too much on telekinesis can lead to nosebleeds, migraines, and high blood pressure.
  • Without her psy-hood her powers become much more difficult to focus. Some still work, but nothing precise.
  • Her training may be a bit too rigid as she doesn't always respond quickly to excessively new situations without a superior officer to command her.
  • May or may not be hooked on lho-sticks. Claims she can quit anytime. Cannot.
  • Like most in the Imperial Guard, Lisbet is a massive xenophobe and little tolerance for Heresy, though the latter is probably a good thing.
Biography: Lisbet was born on the Hive/Death world of Mordian, which besides being tidally locked is also notable for being an adjective. She grew up on the lower edge of the middle section of the hive city of Muden, where she worked with her father maintaining ground vehicles for both the private sector and the Iron Guard - Mordia, like many Imperial worlds with Imperial Guard regiments of note, lacks a real planetary defense force so there really wasn't one, just the Iron Guard. Such exposure eventually led to her deciding to join up with the Guard. Fate had other plans, as both her pubescent body changes and her psyker abilities came in unusually late, and both hit the poor girl like a train. Epsilon-level psykers are rare to begin with, and Lisbet happened to have her powers kick in right as the Black Ship was pulling into orbit, so she had a very short trip onto the Black Ship. Her trip to Terra for psyker training was not nearly as short, as the Black Ship suffered engine troubles halfway there and had to drop out of Warp for a month.

Training was the usual fare. How it went and what actually happened during training, few can say - psykers rarely talk about it, and it was presumably Very Bad for such a large percentage of psykers to have such little interest in sharing. She was paired up with a rather easygoing, almost reckless, Recongregationist-with-a-bit-of-a-polypsykanic-bent Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus by the name of Magillania Mayvin, who was herself a low Γ-level Psyker of the Pyromancy discipline, who was notorious for trusting no-one but the Emperor and even that was sometimes iffy according to some people. With Inquisitor Mayvin, she and the Inquisitor's other Acolytes mostly dicked about the Segmentum Pacificus and Segmentum Obscurus right along both quadrant's borders, running into the Tanith First and Only at one point, and the Thousand Sons another. Both times involved or resulted in shit going down. Eventually, after twenty years, Mayvin trusted her enough to put her in the frontlines of combat, and they returned more-or-less permanently to the Segmentum Obscurus, largely assisting the Iron Guard - Mayvin lost a bet after all, and she had to pay up by helping them out for fifteen more.

She was there when Cadia fell. She was there when Mordian fell. It pissed Lisbet off to no end that the Guard was forced to evacuate before they lost the planet, but then again, as important as Mordia was it was not and likely never would be Cadia. It was enroute to another ground mission with the Mordian Iron Guard and some of the Praetorians on Seppi to help deal with some Dark Eldar led there by a Khornate (ironically) daemon prince by the name of Udoroth the Tyrant that she was taken to the realm of the Clairvoyant. Lisbet does not trust the Clairvoyant as far as she can throw it, which isn't very, but the Warp is calm here, the Emperor's light cannot lead her home here, and the Clairvoyant claims to work for the Emperor in some way, so she really has no choice.

I won't be surprised if someone apps an Ork, and the Clairvoyant somehow assigns the Ork to the same team as Lisbet if she's from the Imperium.
