New Faces, Higher Stakes (RWBY AU RP) (OOC)

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:01 am

Beacon Academy, a school built to train teenagers to fight soulless monsters known as the creatures of Grimm, has been reclaimed, but it is no time for celebration. Beacon Academy was heavily damaged during the battle where it fell to the Grimm, the campus is littered with the corpses of those who died to retake it, several teams are left leaderless or otherwise decimated after the Fall of Beacon Academy and the battle to reclaim Beacon Academy, new students are being rushed to replace those who were killed in the weeks following the Fall of Beacon, the acting headmistress is being kept on a short leash by the Council that rules the Kingdom of Vale, and the powers that be have shifted their priorities to a new purpose: capturing the silver eyed arch traitor Ruby Rose, a former student and a cohort of Cinder Fall, the golden eyed woman who had instigated the Fall of Beacon Academy. She continued to stay off the grid, the mountain of mangled, battered, and mutilated corpses that were unfortunate enough to pursue the price on her head when they were still alive being the only evidence of her still being alive. Many members of the White Fang, the civil rights group turned terrorist organization that is only aligned with Cinder Fall because she strong armed Adam Taurus, who was the second-in-command prior to the Fall of Beacon Academy, into joining forces with her, have considered betraying Ruby Rose for the reward money and a full pardon for their actions, but none have acted on those plans out of fear of retaliation from her current allies. The Slavers Guild fights amongst itself, blaming the other half of the organization for the death of one of its leaders. The White Fang has allied itself with the Wolf Lords Tribe, the Storm Blade Tribe, and the Crimson Moon Clan in preparation for the battles ahead. Secrets will be revealed, Stakes will be raised, and new players will step out of the shadows.
1. I and my Co-Op's words are law.
2. No Godmodding, Flaming, or Trolling. This is an RP, not your personal soapbox. THIS INCLUDES SJWS!
3. There is no limit to your characters, however only control as many as you can handle. You can play as canon characters, so long as they are still alive in this timeline.
4. Your characters are not immortal. They can die, regardless of whether they are canon or not.
5. No one liners
6. No Mary Sues. Anti-heroes with spiked armor, large muscles, and other '90's stuff are okay so long as their backstory makes sense and their equipment is not overpowered or otherwise unrealistic.
7. Factions are reserved for CO-OPs. Human characters cannot join the White fang.
8. Faunus have only one animal trait (sometimes it is easily hidden). Characters with one human parent and one Faunus parent have a 50/50 chance of being born with a Faunus trait while children born to Faunus with traits of different animals will be born with a random trait.
9. While this takes place after Volume 3, this is an alternate timeline and while certain events from Volume Four will occur from time to time, they will not have the same outcome as they did in the canon (a character who survived a life threatening injury in the canon dies, a character who goes to the Kingdom of Mistral gets sent to the nuthouse instead, someone who falls in love in the canon does not, etc.), so do not spam the comments with typical fan hate.
10. This RP begins where the previous one left off, allowing it to be a sequel without ending unfinished story arcs with a cliff hangar.
11. If the OP is controlling a player character from a previous RP, then control will be relinquished to the creator of that character once the player who created that character posts the APP for that character.

Faction: Beacon Academy

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:04 am

A damaged gem that has recently been reclaimed and reopened, Beacon Academy has trained huntsmen and huntresses to defend the human race from the creatures of Grimm for centuries. During the Fall of Beacon Academy, its headmaster and star pupil died, the death of the latter demoralizing those defending it and the demise of the former leaving them leaderless. It took weeks of brutal and intense fighting before the forces attempting to cleanse Beacon Academy of the Grimm, with assistance from various mercenary companies that the current Headmistress hired using funds she received by striking a Faust-style deal with the Council that rules the Kingdom of Vale, finally achieved their goal at great cost. However, with students from secondary huntsman academies being rushed into Beacon to fill out the roster and the losses suffered by teams who fought the Grimm during or after the Fall of Beacon Academy being replaced with students who lost their teams during the Fall of Beacon Academy, Beacon Academy has a long way to go before it can return to its former glory.

Faction: White Fang

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:05 am

Five years ago, the leader of the White Fang stepped down, allowing Sienna Khan to fill the void and lead the White Gang down a path of violence and mayhem. Protests turned into riots. Boycotts turned into bombings and hijackings. Friends and family of the head of the World's largest supplier of Dust, the magical sand and crystals that allowed the human race to survive the constant onslaught of Grimm for thousands of years, disappeared left and right. Human and Faunus alike learned to fear them. Radicals and disenfranchised Faunus joined their ranks by the hundreds and began wearing hoodies and Grimm masks. The White Fang was large enough to be considered its own military, but Sienna's power would not last forever. Her second-in-command, Adam Taurus, attacked Beacon Academy and slaughtered many of its defenders, earning him a quickly growing popularity amongst the ranks of the White Fang and a few days later, Sienna Khan died, some believing her to be poisoned by the followers of Adam Taurus. Under their new leadership, the White Fang launched devastating guerilla campaigns against Atlas and Mistral, causing the former to grant the supreme commander of its military extended emergency powers and the latter to militarize. The White Fang is currently preparing for the inevitable counteroffensive by the two vengeful kingdoms.

Faction: Kingdom of Atlas

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:05 am

A kingdom with a proud military tradition, Atlas was the lone military superpower in a world where civilization went pacifist. Originally a Academy that had been reopened in peacetime to ensure that its surplus of warriors of the realm would be useful, it gradually expanded over time, eventually becoming the new capital of the Kingdom of Mantle and renaming the kingdom after it, a kingdom that had entered a depression after their defeat in the war with Vale and Vacuo and the resulting abdication of their king, a realm that was pulled out of its poverty by founder of the Schnee Dust Company, who, in his old age and suffering from multiple illnesses, gave it to his son-in-law, a business man who only cared about profit. Academy, Military, and Kingdom rolled into one, Atlas is powerful enough to take on the other Kingdoms without assistance. However, in recent times, its military might has been challenged by the White Fang and its leader has been given the powers of a tyrant.

Faction: Mistral

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:06 am

Surrounded by cliffs and looking majestic to the outsider, living in the Kingdom of Mistral is a double edged sword. While Mistral's elite are known for great works of art and architecture, there is a large and loosely connected network of black markets, assassins, bounty hunters, and mercenaries scattered throughout the entire kingdom, a wretched hive of crime, scum, and villainy hidden under a shining jewel. However, those who desire to improve their lot in life through legitimate means can apply to join Haven academy or Sanctum Academy, the latter being a secondary school. However, due to a recent series of hit-and-run attacks by the White Fang, Mistral is pursuing military options while cracking down on subversive groups and censoring anything that displayed the militarization in a negative light.

Faction: Shade Academy

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:06 am

Founded after the queen of Vacuo abdicated the throne, Shade Academy is the only widely accepted source of order in the Kingdom of Vacuo due to the people's disregard for laws, a unique position that has allowed to remain true to the goals of its founder while the other three Academies have taken drastic measures in the weeks following the Fall of Beacon Academy. However, despite it being an oasis in a sea of war and turmoil, foreigners still view enrolling in Shade as a last resort to be taken only when rejected by the other three Academies while locals still view it as a chance for glory that allows them to escape from the boring monotony of living in a desert. Several teams attended the Vytal Tournament, a friendly competition that was part of the celebration of the peace between the four kingdoms, though only one was able to get to the finals. However, its chance to break Beacon Academy's winning streak was shattered when Beacon Academy fell to the Grimm. With Vacuo gradually becoming isolationist and the Slavers Guild growing more powerful, Shade Academy's future is unsure.

Faction: The Slavers Guild

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:07 am

Formed by a collection of shady individuals seeking to control the newly revived slave trade after the Massacre of the Corsairs, the Slavers Guild is a mysterious organization that established Fighting Pits in Vacuo and Slave Mines outside Mistral. It was controlled by the Triumvirate: "The Banker" (a retired corporate executive who handled the finances of the Slavers Guild and controlled all Slavers Guild operations in Mistral while he was alive), "The Politician" (a corrupt politician who uses his connections to ensure that Atlas Intelligence does not investigate the Slavers Guild), and "The Commander" (a Huntress who is the supreme commander of the forces loyal to the Slavers Guild). As the power of the Slaver's Guild increased and the armies it commanded grew in size, so did the fear of it. Eventually, it seemed that the Slaver's Guild was untouchable. However, with it's forces fighting a civil war and the White Fang attacking its convoys in retaliation for the recent assaults on White Fang camps, the future of the Slavers Guild is uncertain. Only the Gods know whether it will come out of its recent tragedies stronger or be destroyed by them.

Faction: Wolf Lords Tribe

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:07 am

A tribe of Faunus who were never conquered or enslaved by humans, the Wolf Lords are more savage than their city dwelling cousins, continuing to practice barbaric rituals and worship crude totems centuries after the rest of the world abandoned such customs. Living deep in a forest littered with the bones and weapons of their foes, the Wolf Lords Tribe are isolationist, only leaving their home to attack villages unfortunate enough to send hunting parties into their territory. Those who are slain in these raids are left where they died as a warning to others while those who are captured are eaten by the entire tribe. However, this "winning streak" was ended when the White Fang defeated the Wolf Lords Tribe in battle and forced them into an alliance. With them now aligned with the Storm Blade Tribe and the Crimson Moon Clan, the Wolf Lords Tribe is ready to engage the White Fang's enemies.

Faction: Storm Blade Tribe

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:08 am

Renowned for their skill with a sword, the Storm Blade Tribe has retained its shamanistic traditions while adopting more modern customs, making them unique amongst the two other tribes that have allied themselves with the White Fang. However, this is where they are now. To know how they got there, you will have to go to the beginning. Centuries ago, when humans were enslaving Faunus, the Tribe of the White Sun was captured by humans and sold to a wealthy land owner who worked the males to death and took "special liberties" with the females. However, it only took another generation before one of the males, the eldest son of the chieftain, began a revolt that was tragically short-lived. The Chieftain and his other son died in the rebellion, the eldest son and his children were tortured to death by the chief overseer, and Ragnar, the nephew of the rebel leader, armed only with a sword that he looted off the corpse of an overseer that his cousin had killed, fled into the forest with the rest of the survivors who chose to escape rather than surrender. Exhausted from the chase and his pursuers not far behind, Ragnar, having lead the other survivors to an abandoned village and armed them with whatever they could find, made a death prayer to Thor and raised his sword to the stormy sky to rally his comrades in their darkest hour. Thunder echoed as lightning hit the sword, but the lone Faunus was not harmed. Believing that the Gods had turned on the humans due to their lack of knowledge about Aura, he ordered the survivors to attack, allowing them to turn the tables on their unsuspecting and numerically superior foes. Believing that this victory was a miracle, the escaped slaves named Ragnar their leader and abandoned all previous allegiances and beliefs. Knowing that it would be dishonorable for the newly formed Storm Blade Tribe to abandon their enslaved brethren to their fate, Ragnar sent warriors to scout the perimeter of the plantation and recruit any escaped slaves they could rescue from the hunting parties sent to retrieve them. Once they had gathered enough warriors to storm the plantation, they attacked, easily overwhelming the defenses. By dawn, there was nothing left on the plantation but corpses, burnt ruins, and footprints.

Faction: Crimson Moon Clan

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 11:08 am

A Faunus Tribe that specializes in assassination and espionage, the Crimson Moon Clan is the most hated of the White Fang's three allies. Similar to the Storm Blade Tribe, the Crimson Moon Clan was captured and enslaved by humans. However, instead of rebelling against those who enslaved them, they mastered the art of stealth and subterfuge, gradually depleting the ranks of their oppressors through hit-and-run attacks. By the time their masters knew what was happening, they were already drinking the poisoned wine and the guards who weren't killed in the hit-and-run attacks were already looting their estates. Having gained their freedom, they moved into the nearby mountains and built a secret village to train more in their ways. Centuries later, Adam Taurus offered the Crimson Moon Clan half of the loot from the White Fang's raids in exchange for assassinating the Grandmaster of the Corsairs. After the Massacres, the leader of the Crimson Moon Clan, seeing an alliance with the White Fang as the most beneficial partnership, agreed to join forces with Adam Taurus.

Faction: Atlas Intelligence

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 12:34 pm

During the Great War, as the soldiers of both sides fought on the battlefield, spies and saboteurs fought in the shadows to guarantee victory on the battlefield. After the Great War and the Kingdom of Mantle moving its capital to Atlas, the Intelligence Agencies that had employed the spies and saboteurs were merged into a single entity to ensure that none of them went rogue: Atlas Intelligence. However, in a world at peace where the only enemy was the Grimm, this new organization was the most mismanaged and underfunded branch of the Atlesian Military, the only people willing to join Atlas Intelligence being either graduates that were rejected by the other branches of the Atlesian Military or cadets who were expelled. These flaws created difficulties when investigating the activities of the White Fang, the White Fang managing to turn undercover operatives into double agents whenever they couldn't infiltrate the ranks of the Atlas Intelligence. However, after Cinder Fall's sabotage caused the Fall of Beacon Academy, General Ironwood fired the incompetent leadership of Atlas Intelligence, purged it of double agents, and increased its budget.

Faction: Giant's Hand Company

Postby Flarbinia » Fri Oct 20, 2017 12:56 pm

Founded by an ex-Atlesian Specialist, the Giant's Hand Company has fought in the inter-tribal conflicts that tend to flair up outside the walls of the Four Kingdoms, gaining a reputation for never breaking a contract. Many Huntsmen who were dissatisfied with the status quo joined the Giant's Hand Company for the sake of being free of outside influence and political infighting. Villages too poor to afford the fee of the Giant's Hand Company offered their best warriors as collateral. However, their leader's recent decent into alcoholism has caused the Giant's Hand Company to lose many battles and contracts.

I wonder what faction would allow a possibly insane scientist obsessed with gene-splicing? Or, he is independent.

I would put my money on Atlas Intelligence. Gene-splicing would make an undercover agent's job easier.

Good point. Let's just hope they don't boot him off when he starts to demand Grimm creatures to extract DNA from.

His orders come directly from Director David Stone, so while his choice of test subjects may raise a few eyebrows, no one can touch him so long as he provides Atlas Intelligence with the desired results.

He is working for the side of good, so he is the technically Token Evil Teammate as far as his employers are concerned.
