“New eras don't come about because of swords, they're created by the people who wield them. ”
― Nobuhiro Watsuki
Kyoto, Empire of Japan

Image

It was January, and the Imperial palace was a cold place. Officials went around no going about daily Buisness in the service of their young Empress. Plans were coming along for another war, though it was being decided. Should it be against the Koreans, or the Philippines? Well, that's the thing, it wasn't certain.

Now, the Philippines were an easier target. One more attainable, which made them relatively more wantable, which caused the likelihood of them being the first to fall. However Korea has gathered much hatred from the Japanese over the years, and it wouldn't be surprising for them to go after them.

In that being the case, after much deliberation, Empress Sakura announced that the Philippines were next. Oh joy one could say. The Invasion would take place sometime in the next three months. In the meantime the Imperial Japanese Navy had ordered a 1st Rate. The first to be built among many to come.

The Marines would get their taste of blood in this engagement, being deployed with their Naval advantage throughout the islands to capture objectives, and initiate Japanese rule. As the Military began to mobilize, plans were also made for after the war, and what to do with the population. It was interesting in some cases, sad in others. It would be necessary none the less.
Naval Expansion

Image

Said ship would take 5-6 months to complete, and would serve as the Flagship for the Philippine Conquest. It was also the start of something bigger as far as the Navy went, as the Japanese love for their Navy was quite obvious in their society. They were islanders, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

It would be be accompanied by the construction of two second-rates in other shipyards in Japan. This was an overall pretty decent expansion for the coming months, though that wouldn't be all. 5 Fourth Rates, and 20 Unrated ships would also be under construction throughout Japan and its shipyards. Now obviously this wouldn't all be completed by the time the invasion started, they would be by the time the campaign had come to a conclusion. Well, that's what the Japanese thought.
Remarkble Growth-Edo, Japan

The city of Edo(Tokyo) began to bear shipping yards for the Imperial Navy, and grew rich on trade and other industries. It was considered the greatest among the shipyards in Japan, the most modern in Asia, and the example for all Japanese Port Cities of what progress looked like. It was notable what the city was doing, and it became like a city of opportunity for the peasants who wanted work.

Meanwhile great western style Universities began to pop up, intent on making the people of Japan the educated sort, well, as much as they could. It's not like Women commonly had a chance at these universities, but they were women. Sakura being an exception to this rule of course. This tended to be the center of it. Sakura also made sure to give attention to her own city of course, making it a place of learning.

In a sense, it already was with all the temples and pre-restoration schooling which the Shogunate did a particularly good job of for a non-western country. Kyoto is still the capital, it's not a military city, it's a city of leadership. Of refinement, where the Empress rules of course.

Antonio Garcia looks out on Guadalajara from his balcony. "Today is the day" he said to himself. He quickly got himself prepared for the several meetings scheduled for today. One of the new laws to be signed in today was a new conscription law that would move the army's population to 2.5%. This wouldn't take full effect for a month but the training camps for new recruits was already under construction. Meanwhile delegation was being sent to the Americas hoping to forge an alliance or at the very least a non aggression pact. These delegates had a long journey ahead of them and it would take a month or two before they arrived.

The Lord Above's Royal Empire of Britannia

Image

In the Service of God, the Nation, and the British People

London, England, British Empire

Prime Minister Henry Davidson paced his office in the Parlimentary Courtyard to the sound of the fife and drumbeats. Just outside, a regiment of Royal Life Guards of Foot marched back and forth, with precision and discipline. The Prime Minister banged the table, knocking over a few displays of British troop positions around the world. " Are you right and sure that we can't spare any troops from the Levant?"

General Astine, former commander of the Jerusalem garrison, shook his head no. " My regimental commanders have already expressed difficulty in quelling any Arab uprising in the area." Davidson continued pacing. The General spoke up again. " It may not be my place sir, but may I suggest something?" The Prime Minister nodded, not really paying attention. " Well sir, we could open up recruitment to the Royal Army in British Canada. They have remained loyal to the a Empire for all times."

The Prime Minister stopped pacing. " Come again, General?" " I said sir, that we could open up recruitment in British Canada." "You see General, that's an interesting proposition. It could reap benefits, or it could train future rebellions against the crown. I will think in that. You may take your leave, General." The General saluted and quickly left the room.

Greetings from London with highest wishes of good fortune and health!

The Prime Minister has expressed a want for a change in policy concerning the Ottoman Empire, a plague always biting Europe's feet. The time has come for an invasion. Us, the powers of Christianity and the hand of God must liberate the northern African reaches and holy land from the savage hands of infidels and bring the poor people living in these desolate places the word of God. The time has come for a new crusade, one to spread Christianity throughout Northern Africa and the Holy Land. Britain will do her duty to God, whom will join us on this noble quest? God willing, we will have victory!

Budapest, Union of Hungary-Serbia

Image

Buda Castle, Budapest, Union of Hungary-Serbia
King Mihaly Toth walks in the garden door of his Budapest palace. Shivering violently, due to the abnormally cold temperature this day. He did not mind it, however, for he usually takes long early morning walks around his garden, no matter what the weather. However, this stroll was interrupted by Hungary's top general. General Ignac Nagy arrived early in the morning to converse with the king on matters of the Hungarian military. While Nagy had been forcing the troops to train over the new year, drilling them in winter tactics, he proposes the opposite to King Toth. "Sir, we have received a message from the English," Nagy remarks to Toth as they re-enter the palace. "I understand that we have been training in winter combat, so as to be prepared in all situations of a war on the home front, I have different idea. The English are asking the armies of Europe to assist them in a war against the Ottoman Empire. Now, I do believe remembering you saying something about controlling the Balkans. Is that correct sir?" Toth turns to give his coat to a palace staff, then turns back to Nagy, "Yes, I may have mentioned something along those lines. However, a global war with the Ottomans may cause more trouble then could be imagined. If it were merely one or two nations attacking, dividing up the lands would be easy. On the other hand, all the powers of Europe would end up bickering over every last scrap." Toth sighs, but nods his head in agreement, "However, we cannot pass up this opportunity. Switch from winter training protocols, to rough terrain and mountain protocols. Also, be prepared to raise conscription laws. Hopefully, our current army should be enough. But in the occasion we need more men, we should not be caught off guard." The two men then parted ways and Nagy composed a letter to be sent to Britain.

Recipients of this message: British Empire

Greetings Prime Minister Henry Davidson of Britannia!

The Union of Hungary-Serbia will gladly work alongside your nation in a war against the Ottoman Empire. For centuries we have been living in fear of the Ottoman menace. It wasn't until within the past hundred years that we faced our fears and liberated the Serbian people from Islamic rule. We only ask that you allow us the entirety of the Balkans to influence and control. As well as the Balkans, we ask for the port of Limassol on Cyprus.

Signed, Ignac Nagy

Manuel Garcia had pushed for naval expantion ever since he was apointed general by his brother Antonio Garcia and today he would finally see the fruits of his labor. Midday in Cancun Manuel oversaw the begining of a construction project to expand the New Spanish Empire of America's navy to protect her daughters more cohesively.

Antonio Garcia himself, still in Guadalajara, was brainstorming with his advisers on how to expand and boost the Mexican economy. One adviser pipes up saying "I hear that Great Britian is going through an economic boom similar for what we are looking for, something with industrializing". Hearing this Antonio slaps his forehead "of course expanding our industry is the way to go, why didnt I think of that". Antonio immediatley begins to write up legislation to start construction of more factories throughout the New Spanish Empire. After a few hours pass of hurried writing his advisors realize a problem "who would be willing to work in all these factories once there made". Antonio looks up from his writing with a grin "have you heard of Immigration".

A week passes and a ship filled with supplies for a journey accross the Atlantic awates its departure filled with advertisers and translators to pull immigrats into The New Spanish Empire from Europe.

ARABIA, WINTER 1810
MECCAN PALACE

"What is it?" Said Muhammad IV, Rightful Caliph of the Sunnis.
"Our majesty, I feel like it's time for us to declare war on the impersonating Ottoman caliph." Said one of the advisors.
Of course, The Caliph was the leader of the Sunnis and could easily reject the proposition from the advisors, he was an absolute monarch after all.
"Are you crazy? The Ottomans will defeat us! But don't we worry, let's see what the Western Powers, specifically Hungary-Serbia, will do to the Ottoman Empire. If they attack, we attack!" The Caliph raged in a strong voice.
The advisors agreed without reluctance.

So the plan was set in motion. The Arabian military would need to be expanded and the Ottomans dealt with when the time is right.

ARABIA BLOSSOMING

Since 1784 when the Caliph Muhammad rightfully banned persecution of free thinking, Arabian mathematicians have once again become world-class. Thousands of young Arabians are being taught at reformed Western schools, seeking to make Arabia once again become the haven of scientists, like in the Middle Ages.

The Caliph rightfully supports science AND religion. Tolerance of free thinking has never been higher. Many literate Arabians begin reading the books of the French Revolution, which brought political changes in the country. Many ideas of liberalism were imported into Arabia, but modern advances in technology were as well.

Mecca, although mostly in desert, became city with around 15.000 people. Many people come here from the Hajj and stay in this place to flee the persecution of the Ottomans to the Iraqis and the Syrians.

Will Arabia rise or fall? Only time will see.
A big, 1.8 M blob filled with joy and enthusiasm, with a small dash of ingenuity combined with a youthful, healthy dose of idealism.

Stockholm, The Swedish Empire
Image
Du gamla, du fria

Tre Kronor, Stockholm, Swedish Empire.
Sitting within the royal tea room sat King-Emperor Gustav V enjoying his late morning tea, all was tranquil within the grand castle. The morning snow had stopped falling and the beautiful Swedish winter had began to set in. A servant entered silently, giving a short bow, placing a letter on the table. The king would pick it up, his eyes scanning the letter. The British calling a crusade? Sure liberating the Holy land would bring great name to the protestant faiths, however Sweden was a land of winter conflicts, and had little interest in securing herself a colonial empire of sorts. Then again, perhaps this crusade could prove more useful for the Swedish than they though.

Britain surely has a strained relationship with the Russians and perhaps even the Germans. Perhaps if they joined this war then the British would return the favour, and aid them against Russian and German alike, should another conflict arise. Sweden could hold her own against one of them in isolation, but against both? Perhaps she would not fair so well. After a brief self-discussion he decided it would be best for Sweden to get involved, in return for an alliance with the British.

Official Telegram from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Swedish Empire

To His Lordship, the Prime Minister of the British Empire

His Highness has received the letter from you in regards to the call to arms against the Ottoman Empire and has agreed to offer the support of the Swedish military. As a result of such an endeavour, his highness would like to request the support of the British empire should any conflict arise between Sweden and Germany and/or Russia. We ask for no land to be gained from the war, only reassurance that the British government will aid Sweden against her enemies, and that a modest sum is taken from the ottoman treasury at the end of the war.

Signed, His Royal Highness Gustav V,
Prime Minister Sverker Hägg,
Minister of Foreign Relations Wilmer Cederblom

Washington, United States of America

Image

Henry Carlington, Vice President of the United States oversaw the ongoing Senate debate about a new naval bill. Granting the expanding US navy an additional $1,500,000 for the building of eight 4th Rate ships of the line, but more importantly experimental steam boats for military use. John Fitch's Delaware river steam boat nearly two decades ago had initiated river steamboat usage in the United States, and the significant dockyards of Philadelphia, Savannah, Boston and New York would see contracts from the Navy department's representatives visit soon enough were the bill to pass in both houses. The charismatic Democratic Senator from Maryland, Samuel Smith held a speech that made President Marshall's opposition cheer.

"Shall this congress approve the new Navy act, it will spend no less than twenty million dollars this year! Isn't the farmer of this nation taxed enough, gentlemen, or should we increase their burden for the sake of spending itself! Our great former Vice President Thomas Jefferson, still among us to bless our nation with his celebrated mind, had the stomach to stand up to our former President Adams when he proposed to expand the navy further, admitting that it is indeed an expensive engine! This nation needs no more than sloops in our harbors to protect the independence we gained after so much struggle, not the force of an aggressor able to provoke a conflict that would threaten that very privilege!"

Smith had become the de-facto leader of Jefferson's Democrats, staunch in his opposition against the Federalist rule which had lasted since Washington handed over the Presidency to John Adams. Marshall's moderate Federalist faction had grown smaller by the day, with the freedom-seeking Democrats dreaming of the state Hamiltonian America had denied them, while Carlington's Federalist faction wanted a state as strong as those of European system. The election of 1812 seemed uncertain as of now, but influential and well-known allies of Jefferson like Smith or equally likely James Monroe could prove the Southern challengers a New Englander like Carlington could not win against. Even within his party, rumors of John Quincy Adams as a potential President had been heard and President Marshall himself had suggested several times that he would consider a third term if he though the nation 'needed it'.

The White House, Washington
President John Marshall sat reclined in his favorite armchair by the Oval office fireplace and rubbed his hands together as to suggest to the Butler present in the room that some wood should be brought in and that quickly. He then looked over to James A. Bayard, Secretary of State and the other present diplomatic advisors, who were presenting their commercial vision for an American trade legation in Europe and Asia to represent interests abroad. The President had ordered the details of this plan to be set up nearly a year ago, and all needed now was confirmation from the British and Japanese to host the separate legations in their capitals. John Quincy Adams would depart for Kyoto as US Minister to Britain, while the former New York mayor Dewitt Clinton had been appointed as US Minister to Japan to appease the Democrats. John Quincy Adams was expected to arrive in London in a month, while Clinton wasn't expected to arrive in Japan until summer.

Another issue at hand was the arrival of a Mexican envoy, suggesting an Alliance of sorts or in the least a pact of non-aggression on behalf of Antonio Garcia. President Marshall agreed that US-Mexican relations should be fostered, and that an alliance was possible, but that the military presence in Mexican Florida and lack of access in the Carribean sea for the growing US Navy was a concern and that the state of independence among the smaller American powers should be discussed jointly by Mexico and the United States. The Mexican delegation received message that a Defensive agreement was on the table if rights for the US navy to exercise trade protection in the Mexican gulf, that it could have rights of access to the ports of Miami and Santo Domingo as well as a future negotiation to be made over the territorial status of both powers but that the US was ready to recognice Mexican Florida should compensation be available.

Kyoto, Empire of Japan

Image

The Empress sat in a room full of her advisers, who were prepared to give their leader an update. The Invasion force had been prepared, and it was just time for one last discussion before a campaign against the Philippines, and the various peoples there began. She had the face about her of someone of calmness. Is that the right word right now? It surly felt that way as she prepared to send the men of her nation off to fight, and possibly die in this conquest.

However such things were necessary, and could not be helped. Ever since the Industrial Revolution came to Japan, it was recognized that it could not reach the proper heights without the resources to properly support said industries. So far it had proved a job maker, and a stimulant to Japan's economy, but it could be so much more. Especially if Japan's ambitions were to be met.

Empress Sakura sighed, and said "Well Generals, I assume the preparations have been meet to the greatest extent." Sakura said, as all the men in the room. The Commander of all Marine Forces nodded, saying "Yes, 40,000 Marines are ready for immediate use when the Campaigns start. The Imperial Navy is also ready to play troop transports to our various Destinations in the war effort."

Meanwhile commander of the Army stated "A father 100,000 troops are ready to server in any capacity in the coming conflict. They will back the Marines up after their initial assaults, though we speculate they may not be needed in the long run." He said as she nodded to his words, before she took a quilt to write the official orders to commence operations. "You have my full confidence gentlemen you will succeed."

Image

Imperial Order 402

The use of military Force has been approved against the Philippines. In the name of the Empire of Japan, and it's Empress, Sakura Suzmo, the powers of the Military Forces and its Generals are compelled to act in accordance for this is the will of Empress Sakura, who is therefore the will of Japan. The Military, who serves both are thusfore called to the well being of the people of Japan, and their Empress. May God's blessing be upon those who undertake this task.

She handed the order to her Generals, ending off with "Good luck, and may God be with you. You have my blessing in this matter as well." She said, to which they bowed, showing respect to their Empress, then left single file. It had begun.........

The Philippine Sea

Imperial Naval Forces had dispatched, many transports in their care as they made their way to the Philippines. The Northern Most Island, with most the population, was to be targeted first. Imperial Forces first arrived at the port cities, destroying ships in their harbors before landing contingents of Marines and capturing them.

With various kingdoms of the Philippines, they were captured in various ways. These mostly being Costal towns among other things, and Costal tribes. The main point was to occupy the main stream areas, before moving on.

For those who resisted, let's just say they found themselves say..............a head shorter in height, but that's the price for resistance. Superior technology, Artillery, and ships also helped the campaign against the Peopels there. In any case, the Campaign had begun.
"Yeah, you're right. You got lucky this time. If there were Dutch people there, you would be facing so many rebels!"

The Lord Above's Royal Empire of Britannia

Image

In the Service of God, the Nation, and the British People

Portsmouth, England, British Empire

The docks of the massive port city bustled with dock workers, soldiers, and sailors. The distinctive red overcoats of the Royal Army flashed through the crowd as groups of men to their assigned ships. At one dock sat a massive ship, the flag ship of the Portsmouth home fleet. The HMS Asia, a 110 gun first rate, sat in her berth, swaying slightly as soldiers and seamen rushed up and down the gangplank. A few hundred meters away sat the second first rate in the fleet, the 106 gun HMS Impenetrable. The rest of the fleet consisted of 2 second rates, two third rates, a fourth rate, and 16 unrated ships. A dozen unarmed merchants finished the fleets capacity.

On the deck of the HMS Asia sat Admiral Courtney Williams, commander of the fleet. He nodded to the captain of the Asia. " Commander, will you please send a runner over to the Impenetrable to see if General Hawthorn's men are about ready. The captain saluted. " It will be done, sir!" The admiral nodded and leaned back in deck chair. 3 hours later, the fleet of 35 ships and 20,000 soldiers was off for the Egyptian coast, ready for a fight with the Ottoman horde.

While in America the delegation sent by Mexico recived the offer made by the American government, while not willing to part with Florida for the foreseeable future they were certinly willing to open Florida up to any and all American trade and or troop placement.

Meanwhile in Guatalajara Antonio Garcias begins a journey to Cuba to begin talks of a union between there nations. Once he arived he meet with the leader of Cuba over a fine bottle of Mexican tequila, before the talks begin Antonio takes a tour of the city with the Cuban leader dining at a small Cuban restaurant after which they return to the Capitol building to begin the talk over this proposed union.

With the new conscription law in place the population of the army swelled to 2.5% the training camps now being put to good use. The request of more equipment was begining to be mached by the new factories as they went up creating a small bumb in the Mexican economy.

Moscow, Russian Empire
Tsar’s Palace

The Tsar paced back and forth as his advisors, including the Prime Minister, looked on at him. While officially a democracy, while in many respects that was true, the Tsar still held great power including absolute control over his military and the ability to reject laws and make emergency decrees as well as dissolve the Duma. Right now his cabinet had approached him with a proposition. There should be security force created that specialized in traversing Russia and its various and challenging terrain. The Внутренняя королевская полиция or Interior Royal Police. In addition the economy and infrastructure had to be dealt with. While economic liberalisation had started to bring a small uptick in the economy the biggest need was more trade. In regards to infrastructure they had already decided to start construction on a road connecting Moscow to the Persian Gulf Coast which would increase trade and increase the speed at which the military could deploy to overseas if needed.

To: Nations of Europe and Japan

The Russian Empire is seeking increased trade with its neighbors. In order to secure mutually beneficial trade deals we would like to send representatives to each of your nations. In addition we have heard of an alliance of sorts forming in order to deal with the Ottoman scourge. We would like to join.

Sincerely,

Tsar Alexander

OTTOMAN FALL?

MECCAN PALACE, APRIL 1810

The palace was filled with courtiers, especially theologians. The Caliph was himself proud that his Caliphate is receiving attention from all Sunnis in the world and are flocking to his banner.
However, something was running through the palace
"Our Rightful Caliph!" Said the Arabian Advisor of Defense, storming through the court crowd. "The Ottoman Empire is going to be attacked anytime soon. We must take advantage of it and declare war on the Ottoman Empire when the time is ready! If you allow me, I can order general mobilization of the Arabian forces!" Everyone was appalled.
The Caliph was initially shocked and then spoke: "Good job, my friend. It is time to start purging the Ottoman scum from Asia and run back to their homeland in Anatolia! I will ask for a temporary diplomatic alliance between Russia and our nation. It is time for war!" The crowd cheered relentlessly for their Caliph.

Immediately after that, Arabian forces were being mobilized. Arabia was ready to declare to the Ottoman Empire at any time. Although the industry of Arabia took a hit as peasants were recruited to the army.

Image
ARABIAN DIPLOMATIC SERVICE

Recipients: Tsar Alexander of Russia

Mighty Russian Tsar! I know that we differ with religions and cultures, and that our religions have been at war for hundreds of years, but you know that both of our empires have ambitions. These ambitions are to conquer the Ottoman Empire and give ourselves a strategic advantage over the oppressive Western powers! So, based on those claims, the Arabian Caliphate formally asks the Russian Empire for a strategic alliance against the Ottoman Empire.

Signed, Muhammed IV, Caliph of Arabia

It seemed weird for the Caliph to ally a Christian nation to fight against enemies, but they supported him nevertheless.

Washington, United States of America

Image

The successful mission of John Quincy Adams to Europe had been on everyone's lips in Washington since the news of a tariff exemption agreement had arrived late April. Talks of a special agreement with Germany and Sweden had been mentioned too, in something President Marshall had envisioned as a North Atlantic trade treaty and increased interdependence on the American cotton for the powers which would find the import routes the shortest, as well as establishing protection tariffs for American wool, sugar, hemp, and flax. While Mexico was far from outcompeting the United States in the cotton and tobacco markets, it was a trading rival and establishing easier access to North European markets could prove integral in continuing the rapid expansion of the domestic economy. Other powers like Russia, Poland-Lithuania, Italy and Hungary-Serbia were more isolated from the American market, which had the potential to provide cotton, sugar and tobacco after European needs, especially with the growing manufacturing industries of Europe demanding commodities. John Quincy Adams, US Minister to Britain and head of the European trade legation had therefore been tasked with establishing a North-Sea treaty between the US, Sweden, Germany and Britain for the purpose of creating safe trade lanes protected mutually as well as decreasing the tariffs for cotton exports of the US and imports of the European nations to increase the trade of American raw goods. His other mission was for Moscow, Rome, Warsaw and Budapest to establish trade offices in close contact to local manufacturing suppliers in need of raw goods and for the establishment of continental trade lanes from the Mediterranean to Eastern Europe. The modernization of the Southern agriculture was ongoing, but the need for larger markets was urgent, and despite the critique of slave labor having gained strong roots in Washington, the riches ready to reap were recognized everywhere.

Image

To the eminent leaders of the Swedish, British and German Empires,

For purpose of easing the restricted process of trade on the goods that is cotton and tobacco from the producing nation of the United States to the importing nations of the North Sea, whose growing population demands the fine goods that God's Earth has provided, the United States is proposing a treaty of trade. The North Atlantic trading lanes must be kept safe and neutral in the case of conflict, and the merchants of our great nations deserve relaxed protectionism for the benefit of economic growth in the form of enriched agricultural profits in America while the industries of Europe gain access to cotton and tobacco at prices which governments have left to the involved parties themselves to set. Should the deal be of interest, the State department is certain that the American, German, British and Swedish shall cheer altogether.

Respectfully, John Quincy Adams

To the eminent leaders of Italy, Hungary-Serbia, Poland-Lithuania and Russia

While the American nation has stood on this earth in the grace of our Lord for nearly four decades in some form, and its merchant vessels have taken to the most distant shores of the world for purpose of peace and trade, the markets of Southern and Eastern Europe lack the presence of raw goods from the Americas and fact is that the inevitable increasing demand for extracontinental wares could prove expensive in the future. Establishing American trade offices in the capitals of the Great Nations of Europe is of outmost importance however for the United States however, seeing that Great Powers like Italy, Hungary-Serbia, Poland-Lithuania and Russia should not be left in the cold. It is therefore the suggestion of the American State department that safe trade lanes in the name of Christian peace and trade should be established, for the purpose of increased exports from America reaching East.

Respectfully, John Quincy Adams

Brooklyn Navy Yard, May 1810
Secretary of the Navy John Lambert was shown around the dockyard, which had just recently started construction of three out of eight 4th rate ships of the line for addition to the Navy. Lumber was being carried from the boats that had travelled down Hudson river from Upstate, the yard filled with veteran boatbuilders and new recruits doing their best to show the man from Washington exactly what they could do. The Nationalism wasn't quite there, especially in a peacetime situation like this, but this was really the effort of the United States to increase its direct importance in the world, an America the Fathers may not have envisioned but one many were sure they would have been proud of.

The Philippine Campaign

Image

The IJN Empress had entered service, the first Japanese first rate along with two Second Rates. Despite it being deployed as a flag ship in the Philippine Campaign later in the operations, it was mostly there just to "test the waters" as it were. The ship, being the now pride of the Imperial Navy, would sphere head further Campaigns. Wether that was against the Koreans, or some other faction, it would be the first among many.

Increasing progress had been made in the campaign, practically all major settlements being captured to Japanese forces as they began establishing their control, enforcing their rule in the villages, and killing those who opposed. The occupation forces established their capital in Manila. From the way things developed they were in the process of using local divisions to their advantage, painting themselves as an ultimate good.

Tribes were put under Japanese authority, this occurring as the Japanese moved through the Philippines securing its hold on them. Meanwhile Japanese administration began to come to the regional capital of the Philippines. When the time was right, Japanese colonials would come to the Islands.
So far, the Campaign has been going on for 6 months, and would be concluded within the next three entirely by Japanese estimates on how things were going. At that point, administration and colonial projects would be carried out. This would lead to to the Japanese consolidation of their rule in the area for the moment.

This included things like introducing Education to the people in the cities, Pro-Japanese educational values mind you. This particular introduction will take some time to fully implement, however it would be in the fullness of time.

Naval Production

While the 1 first rate, and two second rates had been completed, the incoming 5 4th rates and 20'Unrated ships were in various states of completion. Their completion would be sometime within the either the ending of this year, or the beginning in the winter of next year. At that point the next batch of ships would be ordered.

However some ports would be undergoing massive construction to imitate the one in Edo, and it's Shipyards. This will in the end make productivity of the Imperial Ship Yards greater in say three years, but most heavy duty ships will be constructed in Edo for two years. 4th through 6th rates, and Unrated ships will still be fine to be produced however in other ports.

Five of said Shipyards were being updated, they were Yokosuka Naval Arsenal, Ishikawajima Naval Yard, Kure Naval Arsenal, Sasebo Naval Arsenal, and Maizuru Naval Arsenal. All said of these Shipyards are owned by the Imperial Japanese Navy, and backed with government support. They are trying to come to the standards of Edo Naval Arsenal, the Shipyards in Edo.

Belgrade Palace, Belgrade, Serbian State
At the imperial palace in Belgrade, King Toth and General Nagy were finalizing the preparations for the war with the Ottoman menace. A couple of months ago, Britain had called upon them, asking if they would like to join them against the Islamic menace. Hungary was more than willing and immediately began preparing and training their army for a war in the Balkans and Anatolia. Now four months had passed, and Ignac Nagy, five star general of the Hungarian Army, believes it is time to invade.

Nagy has divided up the initial invasion force into two armies. The first led by himself, comprised of Hungarian, Austrian and Slovak forces, are to push into Bulgaria and take the city of Sofia. The second army is led by three star general, Dragan Ilich, an excellent general from Serbian. He is to command the Serbian, Croatian and Slovene forces, as they push into Skopje and then turn towards Albania. Each army consists of 70,000 infantry, 40,000 cavalry, 200 field guns and 10 howitzers. As general Nagy leaves for his army in Niš, a dispatch is sent to Ilich in Prishtina. He is informed that a formal declaration of war will be called in four days, and needs to be ready to move as soon as possible.

Trieste Naval Yard, Trieste, Union of Hungary-Serbia
As this was taking place in Serbia, the royal navy was preparing for naval confrontation in the Mediterranean. Admiral Zoltan Cseh had just recently received his orders from King Toth in Belgrade. He was to take the Hungarian flagship, the MSS Toth (2nd rate), two third rates, 4 fourth rates and 5 fifth rates to take the island of Corfu and defend the Adriatic Sea from the Ottoman Navy. Accompanying Cseh's navy was 20,000 infantry and 10,000 cavalry. Cseh left immediately, not waiting for the formal declaration of war. His plan was to move his ships off the coast of Italy and wait for the day to arrive. Then, on the day of the declaration, make their assault on the island.

In addition to Zoltan's navy leaving Trieste Naval Yard, the king commissioned a new line of third rate ships to be constructed. About 10 new vessels needed to be completed within the next 12 months, and a large amount of funds were sent to the shipyard. The navy decided to see if they could outsource some of the production and sent a letter to Italy asking if they could use their shipyards to produce new vessels.

Recipients of this message: Venetian Naval Dockyard

Greetings,

Hungary is currently undergoing a great naval overhaul, and requires more dockyards to construct this navy. While we are currently in the process of selecting a new location for a naval dockyard, we need 10 third rates within the year. We would like to ask, if we may use the Venetian Naval Dockyard to construct half of the ships? We will pay you greatly for allowing us to use the dockyard.

Signed, Office of the Hungarian Naval Command

The Lord Above's Royal Empire of Britannia

Image

In the Service of God, the Nation, and the British People

Just off Alexandria, Egypt, Ottoman Empire

The HMS Asia and fleet had been sitting off the a Ottoman city for three days now. In the cover of night, 12 miles to the east, British troops has been landed on the Egyptian soil. Now, with General Hawthorn confirming the last of his troops landing, the siege of Alexandria would begin.

Throughout the decks of the British warships, the scurrying of men sounded as cannon shot and powder were brought from below. At exactly 12 midday, the HMS Asia released a fusillade of cannon shot into the large city. Almost immediately, the ringing of bells sounded from the seven Ottoman forts ringing the port. HMS Impenetrable followed Asia's suit and released her own broadside into the nearest Ottoman fort. Her shots fell true. The outer walls of the fort collapsed, sending dozens of Turks to their deaths.

The First and second rates released Fusillade after Fusillade into the defenses of the city as the suprised and out matched Turkish defenders scurried to return fire. Long boats filled with British marines slowly made their way towards land, towards the remains of the a Ottoman defenses. The Turks sent out their small fleet docked in Alexandria to confront the British fleet, the Ottoman Admiral sailing at the head of the Third Rate Svejbouti.

At four that evening, the British guns stopped firing. Around the two first rates lay the wreckage of the Ottoman fleet, bodies floating on the fiery water and wood swirling in the current. It had been a slaughter, the twelve Ottomans ships only sinking a British fourth rate while the entire a Ottoman fleet was lost. The forts were destroyed as well, by British marines whom landed and seized citron of the defenses. The battle of the port was won, now it was up to the Royal Army to take the city.

USA EVENT

Well by God, apparently the American people can not be contained. American settlers have begun heading into Canada, seeking more lands. Perhaps we should take advantage of this? There's elements in the Government seeking for expansion, and especially a western coast. So, the question is, should we officially sanction the settlement of the Canadian North?

MEXICO EVENT

Sir, I have it would be paramount that we discussed an alliance with a European nation. We all want the liberation of Latin American lands from the foreigners, but how should we go about doing it? Some say the French, others say the Spamish, though there's obvious..........complications in working with them. Regardless the goverment and the people long for the day where then America's will be free.

ARGENTINA EVENT

Sir, I'm just telling you to listen to me! Our brothers North need help, and the Spanish can't stop them! We should begin to foster resentment in their colonies! It has not worked once, but Twice for rebbelions against Iberia! Why not a third time?

HUNGARIAN EVENT

Sir, there's this percilur man who's offering us his services. He claims to be Ann expert in gun making, and would be more than happy to help us produce rifles in larger numbers. Not enough to give to the entire military, but larger than most nations. All he want is a government paycheck, and help starting an armory to supply weapons.

Events

Iberian Empire:
In a distant land, know as the Americas, many of your subjects have begun to become unhappy with colonial rule. With both the Andes and Mexico successfully leaving the Spanish Empire, why couldn't Brazil or Colombia do the same? Currently these are just whispers, there is not much set in stone yet. However, the governor of Brazil has openly expressed desires for more autonomy, and possibly independence. Many of the king's advisers, insist you remove this governor from power. He is clearly a threat to the Iberian Empire. There is a problem with this, however, he is a very beloved governor. Many of your subjects adore his rule, and removing him would just spur the revolutionaries more.

Italy:
As we speak, most of Europe has entered into one of the largest wars in history, with most of the continent joining in a coalition against the Islamic menace. While you may not have been invited to this coalition, this has not stopped the kings advisers from deriving a quick plan on how to gain something from this war too. They suggest that Italy enters on its own and take the city of Tunis for a naval port in Africa. While another set of advisers suggest instead of entering this war, invaded Morocco instead and take a whole country for Italy.

Germany:
Many of Germany's Dutch citizens are not happy with German rule. While Germany has not treated them poorly in the past, the people just insist upon ruling themselves. Luckily, no Dutch rebel groups have appeared yet, but a prominent politician from Amsterdam is pushing for increased Autonomy. All he asks for, is for the Dutch people to have a stronger local government and to keep more of their tax money. They also call for the port of Amsterdam to be handed over to this Dutch government, so that they could collect trade revenue. Most of the Prime Minister's advisers tell him not to take this deal, for it will mean less power for Germany, less money for Germany, and worst of all, Germany would have to pay the Dutch to house the German navy.

Britannia:
Recently, a company in London has been promoting their new colonial venture to British investors. None have taken them up on this venture, so now they come to the British government. They have been asking around for money to establish a colony in Greenland. They insist that this would be good for the empire! It would provide the British Empire with fleet basing in the far north, and if there is a northern passage, it would allow them to control it. Currently the island is inhabited by a mixture of Inuits and Norsemen, but they would not be able to resist the might of the British Empire.

Poland-Lithuania:

Russian Empire:
In recent years, there has been a great migration of ethnic Russians to Azerbaijan and Tabriz district. They have begun to form a sizable minority and have begun to set up their own communities, apart from the local Azeri ones. This has angered many of locals, because Russian merchants passing through the region, on the way to Moscow, will bypass already established communities to shop and reside in these new ones. While it has been immensely helpful for the Russian people, the Azeris are suffering. On top of that, Orthodox churches are being constructed across northern Persia and Azerbaijan, angering the locals even more. They demand that the Russian government ban these communities and send these people home, or there will be consequences.

Arabian Empire:
Arabs across the Middle East are witnessing the fall of the Ottoman Pretenders, and are coming to the aid of the advancing Caliphate from Mecca. While Russia and Britannia may have you outnumbered, you have the hearts of the people. Currently, uprisings in Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt are calling upon you, true Caliph. While they fight the Ottoman menace, they ask you come and save them from the European menace as well. Will you answer the call, or will you let down your people?

Cochin India:
Nearly 1800 years ago, the Apostle Thomas arrived in India, to spread the teachings of Christianity. It was remarkably successful and ended up lasting through the ages. Forming pockets across the Indian subcontinent, Christianity rivaled Hinduism and Islam in places. Proving the validity of Christianity. Now European missionaries have arrived on your shore, bringing with them Catholicism, Lutheranism, Anglicanism and more. They have begun traveling into the distant realms of your empire, spreading the word of God. While this has increased the amount of believers in your country, the Hindus are not so happy. They demand that these missionaries not to be allowed in Hindu lands and kingdoms, specifically Orissa, Bengal, Gwailor and Gujarat. As well as large portions of the Cochin Empire. If these demands are not met, you may see some uprisings against your government. However, if you do as they say, not only will you be angering God, but Europe as well.

Japan:
Oh, what's that? There were Dutch people living in the Philippines? Guess you have rebels.
In seriousness, Japan has a much greater threat than a handful of Dutch rebels. Over the summer, a great wind struck the Philippines, leveling many of the current Japanese settlements there. This has also spurred the local people to fight against the Japanese government, attacking these settlements while they are weak. Many Japanese have been slaughtered by filthy savages, and your governors are calling for more soldiers to be deployed to the islands.

Russian-Ottoman Border

All across the border Russian soldiers had gathered preparing to strike at an unsuspecting Ottoman Empire. From Armenia to Southern Persia the Army was ready. Awaiting orders. Finally they came early in the morning and the invasion started.

Iraq area of Ottoman Empire

Russian Persian Units better suited to the terrain and region of the Southern Ottoman Empire had been gathered along the Iraq area of the Ottoman Empire. The first targets to be taken ASAP were the cities of Abil, Kirkuk, Al Basrah, and Baghdad. With a signal being given the army charged into Ottoman lands pushing hard and fast towards their target cities.

Turkey area of Ottoman Empire

In northern Persia, Armenia, and Georgia more Russian forces had gathered ready to take out the main area of the Ottomans. More suited for the mountainous terrain these soldiers were ready to die for Tsar and country. Recieving the signal they marched full force into the Turkish lands of the Ottoman Empire and headed for the first round of targets those being the cities of Kars, Mt. Ararat, and Van. Soon word spread that Ararat and Kars had fallen to mighty Russia and this gave a new energy to the soldiers fighting in Van. Soon after Van was secured. A beachhead across the whole border secured and now the Armies would focus and moving Westward.

To: The Caliph of Arabia
From: Tsar of Russia

My friend,

I accept your offer and have already just started a campaign against the Ottomans. I would like to have your troops assist in taking out the Iraqi area of the Empire by attacking from the South.

Sincerely,

Tsar Alexander

Empire of Japan-Naval Matters

Image

The Imperial Ship Yards, as well as other ship yards had carried out their Order in full, with 8 Rated and 20 Unrated ships being put into the service of the Imperial Navy. This was good, and would reflect what was to come. This of course will lead to four major Shipyards expansion, which will take two years. However the Edo, and other minor Shipyards were available for service.

With this in mind, 3 Third Rates and 4 Sixth Rates were being ordered, along with 15 Unrated ships as the next order. This was all coming to a head as Japan was increasing its Naval Presence, and intended to make that clear to Korea within the next three years.

North Japanese Philippines

The North Philippines now firmly in Japanese hands, Japanese administration in place, the time was right to begin the colonial process. Mines were started, as well as plantations to begin harvesting crops, and exporting them as trade. The minerals would go to Japan to either help fuel the Industrial Revolution occurring there, the Naval building that was also taking place there.

Like Hawaii, the process of 'Japanification' began on the local process, wether it was Japanese education that was slowly being planned to be implemented, or Japanese Men beginning to marry Filipino women. This was the beginning of a process, if one could call it that. One of how Subjugated peoples were brought into the Empire.

United Republics of the Andes and Argentina

San Andes, Republic of Chile

The sun began to rise above the mountain tops in the horizon. The men had been laboring for hours already. A long foot deep trench ran for several hundred feet from the town. Carts full of cobblestone arrived. A layer of clay was put in the trench before the workers began laying down stones solidifying them into place. Every ten feet the workers stopped and a bunch of torches were brought over to harden the clay the start of a grand project had begun. A project to build a road from the pacific coast all the way to the Atlantic. A mountain pass had been selected for the road to pass through the great mountains. By the end of the day workers had progressed half a mile. Before going back home to get food and rest.
"It's vital this be finished as soon as possible. We need to reach the mountains by the end of the fall. When June comes the snow will start falling and we won't be able to work on the road."
"I know sir, but perhaps if the government was to send more workers and money progress would go faster. With enough funding we could finish this entire project by the end of the fall."
"With enough funding this could be done tomorrow! Look, the budgets tight with war looming on the horizon it looks like Britain and Spain will break out in war, they may have already, there is no way we can spare more money if we are to survive this thing. We need all the money we can to giving our men good supplies, don't forget about our precious colonies either, those are our future. Remember, your in charge of this project, Juan, you will be held accountable if there is a mistake. Now, I have to be back in Santiago by tomorrow afternoon, so I'll be on my way. When I come back you better have made a lot of progress."
"Yes, Chairman."
"All right, Gracias, and good bye."

Puerto Leon, New Zealand

"Sir, we have more reports of some aboriginals. They have been attacking our farmers."
"That's enough of this, I want to see this... this.."
"Maori."
"....Maori Chief man. I'm sick of this."
"I'll get some a unit of troops to accompany you. We should be ready in an hour."
"Gracias, you are a good young man, keep this up and you will get a promotion, Major."

"General Havana, General Havana!"
"Yes, soldier?"
"The cartography reports have comeback we now have some good maps of this land. This will aid us against the Maori filth."
"Good, Now I want a full map of the Island..."
"But sir, this will take..."
"I know it will take a while, but we need to get a major port built. If we can find a better location than this we will be blessed by the lord himself. You understand, this city cannot maintain this, the location is simply to poor. We must make sure to find a better spot, you understand?"
"Yes, General Havana."
"Wonderful."

"¡Larga vida al Imperio Ibérico!"

Madrid, the Imperial Palace of the Spanish Monarchy
Emperor Ferdinand had just awoken when a Messenger came in. "You Imperial Majesty, you've received a letter from the Empress. She says you have to come to Lisbon right away. It's urgent." the messenger said. "Aye. The Empress always wants me it seems like. I want the Portuguese Royal family to have a Palace in Madrid. I wish King Carlos II thought of that. Course, he was a bastard. He knew nothing. Might as well get dressed." The messenger handed Ferdinand the letter, and walked out of the room, whistling "La Marcha Real". After Ferdinand got dressed, he went to the Dining room, finding his youngest brother, Prince Francisco, back from his trip in Britain. "Brother, how I've missed you." Ferdinand said as he was running to his brother so he can greet him. They sat down, and a Maid brought breakfast from the other room. "How was Britain? I hear those damned Britons want some Iberian lands." Ferdinand said while he was cutting into his ham. "Britain is the most luxurious place in all of Europe I'd say. I stayed in the Royal Palace while I was there, and such elegance. I'm surprised they have that much luxury though. While I was in the House of Commons, I did receive some rather unhealthy torment.". "Ha! Even they don't even know some proper manners! If they don't know any manners, then they don't deserve to rule an Empire!" "Please brother! Lets not start another about Britain." "Pfff!". Ferdinand finished his breakfast, and was off to Lisbon.

A couple days later...

Lisbon, the Imperial Palace of the Portuguese Monarchy
Empress Maria was in her study reading when there was a knocking on the door. "Come in." Maria replied. The door opened, and Maria looked up from her book to see who's in the doorway. Ferdinand was in the doorway, and began to walk towards a chair. "Ferdinand, I was worried you wouldn't come. We're currently facing some inhospitable threats from some of our colonies, especially Brazil. The Governor and Colonists of Brazil want more anatomy. I personally think we should remove the Governor from power, so the threat is no more. If not, Brazil will declare Independence, along with some more of our colonies." Maria said. Ferdinand just sat and started to think. After about 10 minutes, Ferdinand started to speak. "I think that we should leave him in power, but only if he agrees to not promote more anatomy." "Such a Great Idea, you Imperial Majesty. I wish I would've thought that myself.". Ferdinand started to write on an Official Document to the Governor, and signed it after he got done with the letter. He handed it over to Maria, who also signed it.

A month later...

Rio de Janeiro, the Colonial Parliament buidling
The Governor was listening to one of the Representatives give a speech. After the Representative's speech, the Governor stood up from his chair, and started to speak his long-awaited speech about Independence. "My fellow Brazilians, Brazil has had many hardships over the last several years. The reason might be surprising to you. The reason is because of the damned Imperial Government across the Ocean that we have to listen to, every single day of our lives. Brazil deserves more then that. Brazil deserves a future of more independence, a future that we can govern ourselves independently without the Monarchs watching over us every step of the way. If the Imperial Government refuses Brazil more anatomy, then Brazil shall declare it's Independence!". The crowd immediately started to clap and cheer. "When we declare Independence from this Corrupt Government across the Ocean, we shall fight every singe battle they give to us towards Victory! Victory to Brazil, and Death to Iberia!". The crowd went totally berserk after the speech. After the Governor sat down, a boy ran into the building, and announced that he had a letter from the Imperial Family. The Governor walked down the aisle, towards the boy. He angerly took the letter from the boy, and started to read it aloud. "From thier Imperial Majesties, Emperor Ferdinand VII and Empress Maria I. The Governor of Brazil has been leading you towards the path of destruction. Brazil will suffer even more if he keeps telling lies and his dreams of an Independent Brazil. The way to make Brazil prosper in the future is simple. The Governor of Brazil will be removed from his post, unless he stops telling his lies and his dreams. Signed, Emperor Ferdinand VII and Empress Maria I." the Governor grumbled. "You hear that? The Royals have finally gone mad!". Everyone started to laugh hard. The Governor walked towards the fireplace, and threw the letter into the fire. The Governor started to laugh.

Budapest, Union of Hungary-Serbia

Battle Report, Albania/Bulgaria/Corfu, Ottoman Empire
With the smell of sulfur and blood in the air, much had been accomplished. The declaration was made, and the troops moved in. The Hungarians did not give the Ottomans enough time to respond, so as to achieve the element of surprise. This definitely aided in the assault on Sofia. While the Ottomans had been watching the build up of soldiers and reacting accordingly, they were still caught off guard. Nagy led a tremendously successful siege of Sofia, proving his prowess as a general. However, he allowed a large number of the defending forces to escape, by not securing the east side of the city. As the Hungarians occupied the city, the troops were commanded to behave themselves and not harass the local citizens. They kept to their word, and the troops were welcomed as liberators.

To the west of Nagy's force, Ilich's force was assaulting the city of Skopje. Skopje's defenses were far inferior to those of Sofia, so taking the city was relatively easy to take. Ilich quickly moved through the city and towards Tirana, the true prize. Not much resistance was faced along the way, which lulled Ilich into a fails sense of security. However, much of the Albanian population had been Islamized during the Ottoman occupation. While only 20 miles from the city of Tirana, the Serbian Army was ambushed by 5,000 militiamen in the dead of night. A great fight ensued, ending in a Serbian victory. Not with loss, however, 3,000 troops were lost during this ambush. This woke Ilich up to the surrounding threats and quickly moved to take Tirana. Currently, Tirana is still under siege, but will shortly fall.

Last, the battle of Corfu. Admiral Cseh had successfully kept his ships undetected from the Ottoman fleet. As the day neared, Cseh began to move his fleet in, and at 5:00 am, he attacked. His early morning assault was very effective, catching the Ottoman defenses unprepared to face his naval force. As the Hungarian vessels began firing upon the docked Ottoman ships, coastal guns from Corfu returned fire. The assault on Corfu had begun, ending in the Ionian Sea being filled with fire, debris and blood. Cseh's fleet had successfully taken Corfu, landing his accompanying forces, before returning out to the sea, to defend the entrance to the Adriatic. Two fourth rates and one fifth rate was left in the harbor of Corfu to be repaired.

Trieste Naval Yard, Trieste, Union of Hungary-Serbia
Having not heard back from the Venetian Dockyard in months, the Hungarian Naval High Command decided to instead postpone most of the third rates. Instead they commissioned an expansion of the Zadar Naval Yard and a new naval yard to be constructed in Dubrovnik. This new naval yard was to be even bigger than the one in Trieste.

Budapest Castle, Budapest, Union of Hungary-Serbia
King Toth was reclining in his studies, when a close adviser informed him of a man claiming to know a new technique for producing rifles quicker. Toth decided to meet with this man and had him prove to him that this was possible. After the inventor explained the process to Toth, and his closest scientists of course, Toth had a check written out to the inventor to open a new armory in Sarajevo. The inventor left with a hop in his step and was provided a safe passage to Bosnia.
