A former KGB branch that merged into the PRJ's intelligence division, which specializes in old Soviet espionage techniques. It's a rival to the Hannya, and directly subordinate to the PRJ military command. Needless to say, they don't like rogue traditionalists like them.

She was treated less better than with the others simply because she wasn't a Chinese, a Russian, or even a Japanese. She soon otherwise though of trained herself harder and tougher to made sure that she got herself a better treatment.

She later became one of the PRJ's best agent, trained in marksmanship through the use of sniper rifle, being a good assassin with seduction and also specialized in chemistry as a means of assassinations. However, even when she was already at her best she still treated differently, this time because she was that good of an assassin, agent, and person. She remarked to herself later on that this was the time when she realized that for all of those ideas of equality and socialism paradise, they were still never that good, but for better or worse it was the best thing for her.

Weaknesses: Epileptic, is not afraid of dying for the shogunate, will commit seppuku if he is dishonored, his sunglasses limit his vision.

Kuroishi spent most of his childhood in Himeji where he had few friends, because most of his time was spent training. His mother treated him well and was his closest companion. The two of them would always walk to the nearby gardens to enjoy the scenery. Kuroishi's father, Ishiki Okubo, was a samurai under Daimyo Haikazu Takeyama who promised Kuroishi a position as a samurai. He began his samurai training at the age of nine. Ishiki taught Kuroishi hand-to-hand combat, sword fighting, firearms training, battle strategy, and samurai philosophy. He became a disciplined and loyal young boy.

At the age of 18, Kurioshi underwent genpuku which marked his coming of age. He officially became a samurai and received his Odachi, armor, and his samurai name (Kuroishi). He also underwent genetic tampering after genpuku. The enhancements gave him increased endurance, strength, speed, pain tolerance, bone density, sense sensitivity, and energy from less sleep, but the tampering created an unintended side effect. He became epileptic. The epilepsy ranged from violent aware seizures, absence seizures, and non-motor seizures which cause hallucinations. Daimyo Haikazu was uncertain whether Kuroishi could serve as a samurai with his condition, but since the epilepsy was visually triggered, he was able to manage it by wearing dark sunglasses. The daimyo was convinced of Kuroishi's abilities and loyalty.

Kuroishi continued to train and serve the shogunate. He was deployed several times throughout his years, and he became one of the most decorated samurai for such a young age. He earned the nickname "The Black-Eyed Samurai" because of the dark sunglasses that he never took off.

Skills: She can shoot straight, she can swing a sword around, she can do fairly advanced math, she can handle livestock.
Personality: Bright, idealistic, and cheerful, and something of a chatterbox, on a deeper level Keiko is deeply fanatical, willing to do anything for the honor of the Emperor, whom she worships as a literal god. Rather sharply contrasting her compassion for those beside her is her complete dehumanization of the enemy. While decently intelligent, she is by no means a military tactician, and favors a full frontal assault with bayonets fixed and swords drawn before anything else.
Weaknesses: Not armored at all. Neither an expert marksman nor an expert swordsman. Additionally, her tactics are not exactly what one could call stealthy. Phobia of snakes that may or may not come into play later.

Bio: Despite the democratization of the Japanese Empire following the disposal of the military dictatorship, the spirit of Japanese militarism cultivated before the War never fully got the message that it needed to die out. While most prominent in the revival of the Shogunate, a different form took root in Kyoto. The Emperor was said to be a living god, worthy of worship, worth every sacrifice anybody could give him, up to and including taking their own life in an honorable suicide attack.

It was this ideology that Keiko Tanaka was born into. Her family was not especially rich, nor did they own any land beyond a house that doubled as a barn. It was always loyal to the Emperor, whomever that was at the time, always blindly following him wherever he went. From pretty much Day 1 she was drilled to believe that the Emperor was a Arahitogami, a deity who was also a human being. She grew up a loyal subject of the Emperor, her family managing to scrape out a decent living. She even managed to attend a school, even if it was in the basement of a long-since abandoned shop and run only by some of the neighborhood parents. She would attend that "school" for most of her life alongside her neighbors and friends. Throughout her childhood, she would slowly come to settle with a group of 4 friends: Makiko, Itsuko, Emi, and finally the youngest, Fumi. They were inseparable, working together in the classroom, messing about in the ruins that the Empire always promised to clear but never quite got around to it. Eventually, however, on the year all but Fumi turned 18, and school ended. Keiko declared her decision to join the Imperial Japanese Army to her friends, they all promised to follow her. Even Fumi, who was a good 2 years younger than the rest of the group, would sign up for the IJA. And so they did. They trained quickly, before promptly being handed Arisakas and cheap swords. This disheartened Emi, who wanted to go to war in an exoskeleton, but Keiko, designated leader (with the stunning rank of "Senior Private") of the "Team" consisting of the five of them (yes I know WW2 IJA teams only had 4 shush), could not have been happier with her assignment. What sealed the deal for Keiko is when her old grandfather gave her an ancient Guntō that the Tanaka family had stubbornly clung to since one of their ancestors had been issued the weapon in the Second World War. She declared that she would not let her family or her sword down, and serve the Emperor ever-faithfully.

In the couple of months since then, the "brave, loyal, honorable warrior of the Emperor" has still never been outside of the peaceful sections of Kyoto. However, recently, Keiko's unit was re-assigned to patrol a less-than-peaceful sector of countryside...
