Why is potatoes silly?

Ice and Fire is a medieval-esc fantasy story. Potatoes are from the New World, Peru specifically. They shouldn’t exist in a European like fantasy story. Not once in the books are potatoes ever mentioned as a Westeros crop.

Ice and Fire is a medieval-esc fantasy story. Potatoes are from the New World, Peru specifically. They shouldn’t exist in a European like fantasy story. Not once in the books are potatoes ever mentioned as a Westeros crop.

Just because crops are from the New World doesn't mean they can't appear in Westeros. That logic indicates pumpkin, turkey, corn and pecans shouldn't appear in a "European like fantasy story", and yet all do. I'm sure there are more, as well.

Erm, like seriously nothing has happend since 282, Karstark is nothing but a third class house and was only needed during The War of The Bastards because of their host size.

Firstly and fore-mostly, in the OP, it outlines what Houses are open. House Karstark is not one of them.

Aside from this, a lack of history (You can look at the other applications, for instance) and seemingly arbitrary professions for Lord Rickard constitute what was already a 'no' into a no.

Rhaenys post up @Jhet -- she's going to ask for Elia's help in dissuading Rhaegar from marrying Rhaenys to Harold Hardying. Her argument is that Hardying is not worthy of being married to a princess until he becomes Lord Paramount of the Vale (but Rhaegar plans to boost his claim BY marrying him to Rhaenys, so you see how that goes), that his claim is unlikely to succeed given the Vale lords' animosity to the Iron Throne currently, and that Hardying is a notorious womanizer.

She will be open to some plotting, but nothing super chaotic and/or destructive, and will essentially be trying to forge links to Dorne in order to get Trystane, Oberyn, and Elia's assistance -- and by extension, Doran's.
