Army Equipment: Aside from salvaged Soviet equipment, Italy relies on its manufacturing sectors to supply it with refined equipment reminiscent of the Great War but with slight modernization.
Army Training and Doctrine: A decently trained professional army consisting of mostly infantry backed by light ATV's and small contingents of tanks and artillery. It is an extremely zealous holy army believing itself to be the arms enforcing Il Duce's divine will.
Air Force Size and Quality: A capable force of 8,000 personnel fly and support 280 fighters, 90 Bombers, 3 Militarized Airships, 30 reconnaissance aircraft, and 20 cargo aircraft.

~History~
Falling Skies
Ignorance is bliss they say, at least until you die from something completely preventable. The initial coming of the redstones in 1928 was met with a fearful curiosity at first, but ultimately something potentially harmful across the seas, Italy had far more important matters at hand, such as forging an alliance with the Vatican, recognizing it as a sovereign state and Mussolini with his family receiving an official blessing from the Pope. It officially declared itself a totalitarian state in 1935 and used propaganda to depose the king through plebiscite thus making Benito Mussolini the sole leader. Wanting to increase its prestige on the national stage it successfully and swiftly invaded Ethiopia in 1935 making it a subservient colony. Other nations viewed this as quite irresponsible as the redstone crisis was a far greater concern that needed the cooperation of all Great Powers. Of course Italy didn't care.

Red Tide
Following the days of the USSR's attack on Poland, on October 5th Italy declared war on it following France's and the UK's example. Initially it sent a large number of forces to support the rearming German and Hungarian troops before the Soviets reached their borders, but it proved futile as the Soviet spearheaded themselves all the way to Paris by December. Recalling its troops from mainland Europe, it began consolidating its forces to prepare an attack on the Soviet's holdings in the Black Sea aiming to relive the days of the Crimean War. By February 1940, it launched naval invasions on Crimea, taking small footholds to progress the incursion. Ultimately it was a disastrous stalemate with no further taking of territory. Italy encountered a similar pathetic stalemate back home as it made no progress on the fronts facing the Soviets in Austria and Southern Germany with the only territorial gain being Corsica.

A red dawn greeted the world in 1942 as redstone overran the world following attacks made by Japan and the US. Italy immediately retreated to the fringes of its borders facing the Alps hunkering down its position. It wisely left Somalia and Ethiopia and evacuated all white colonists as experts claimed them as not being able to be held for long, but not before viciously plundering them of their total wealth. Italy initially had ample time to prepare for the inevitable cold as it was far from any ground zero but it had other problems. A large rogue Soviet contingent had broken through the front lines and it was swathing a path of destruction across the region of Piedmont heading for its capitol, Turin. No worthwhile body of soldiers was near enough to stop it, expect for Mussolini's heir, Vittorio Mussolini, was piloting a lone bomber near them.


The Second Messiah
Vittorio managed to somehow drop all his bombs and crash his plane into the mass of brigands killing the lot of them, but not before ejecting himself to relative safety. He was at first thought lost as a blizzard was raging in the region and to no one's expectation he was found the next morning unharmed claiming to have received a message from God commanding the destruction of all redstone and of those who support it and that they had His permission to exploit while they went about their holy war. The Italian people clung to him desperate for a light to cling to in the coming darkness. The Pope strategically endorsed him, offering him the support of the entire Catholic Church and his father used him to cement the power of the Fascist Party even more for the next decade.

Cruel Season
The next few years were tumultuous as the army fought against dissidents who were skeptical of Vittorio's divinity as well as deserters of the military who'd rather loot than serve their God. The encroaching cold made village life impossible, so they were relocated to different cities in order to survive. The Arab/Berber population in Libya was left to die off in the coming cold, with only but a handful were approved to live in segregated areas within cities. In 1952 Benito Mussolini passed away from poor health and thus his son Vittorio, the Second Messiah ascended his rightful place on the throne. The next ten years were relatively peaceful as the new society created new habits in order to survive this cruel season.

~Notable Features~
- The fortress-cities Tripoli and Benghazi serve as the main redstone exporting base in Libya and are the only major cities with a majority Arab/Berber pop.
- The newly resettled Malta serves as a useful halfway point for caravans to rest and resupply on their way to their destination.

Since Sardinia didn't count as a province I decided to fill up my five free provinces with Libya. I would like some feedback on the sizes of my military since I don't really know what would be appropriate and I have a suspicion it's currently too high.

Army Equipment:A lot of their technology is from the US that they scavenged and reverse-engineered. They have made a core armor design that handles going into the Frontier. Infantry is equipped for frontier work and hardy survivability, modified uniform and armor from winterized army fatigues and Great War gas masks and equipment.

Standard weaponry see more energy weapons than ballistics because of the abundance of Redstone that is mined. The tanks and mobile artillery still have ballistic weaponry but are more heavier than US designs. This is to compensate for the environment that the Empire is in. Power Armor is seen in rare sightings as they are expensive to produce and maintain yet there are a core number of them for their doctrine.
Army Training and Doctrine: Deep Battle happens to be a standard as they learned to use their armor divisions as a must for pushing deep into enemy formations. However, the airforce comes into play as support when it comes to power projection and combined arms when they need to. Common soldier is a conscript or volunteer with them being trained in survivability and training against raiders, rouge mutant bands, or potential threats to the country. Age goes as far as 16 in the infantry and 18 in the armor division. Those who are 13 years old or female may take support or specialists roles if they have the skills for it. Prisoners are sent into penal detachments to serve their sentence or permanently if they have a death sentence, carefully watched by officers and are normally shot on sight for the slightest mistake.

Armor and technicals are built to last. They mostly favor heavier armor designs, made to reinforce from them and take small arms or equal damage. Those who drive must drive through Redstone forests and know how to maintain their vehicles in the areas. Engineers have high-school diplomas or have a engineering trade. They are sent into the technical divisions and co-pilot the tanks and supervise maintenance when needed. They also build camps, dig ditches and other defenses when their in war or help people in distress.

Walkers are a newly introduce unit when it comes to mountainous places where tanks can't reach. They are mostly for support and anti-infantry because they haven't been able to give it anything bigger as of right now yet the ideas for what they can are still being debated.

Power Armor are much more fielded than walkers but are still expensive and modernization for normal troops is still underway.
Air Force Size and Quality: They have 300 aircraft, 20 bombers, 30 armored aircraft for minor power projection over the country, scouting, and transportation. The quality isn't as good as it could be, mostly being put in their armor for traversing the infested landscape.

~History~
The Dust Bowl was one of the most destructive event to happen to America. Despite the government managed to destroyed the Redstone, the migrations into the East Coast, California, and other parts of the country had already showed it's cracks in the population that followed the Second Great War. The Japanese bombing of the Redstone stockpile caused most of the United States,except the East Coast, to be infected with Redstone. Hundreds of millions died either by the new Ice Age or Redstone exposure.

The areas that were richly infected broke down quickly into factions of roaming tribes, raiders, or armored city-states of people hugging to reactors that were being fueled by the very thing that nearly caused their extinction. These factions look towards the Redstone as a source of greed for a variety of factors. These were called the Redstone Wars and it was mostly seen battles between large forests in California and Texas. Stories of warbands led by tanks breaking down entire city walls and vehicle khanates had made the surviving cities to take drastic actions and breed extremism to their culture.

The Cajun City had manage to survive with the protective Redstone forests replacing the ones that once decorated their frozen swampy environment. However the leader of the city, Martin Flouris, saw that the cities and other factions needed to unite cities and kill the warlords that caused them so much heartache. This started the mass campaign as Martin effectively organized the people into one built by brutal discipline and made the population do things that they wouldn't normally do.

Longer hour work shifts, child labor, and mass conscription were among the major policies that allowed the city-state to take action. Oligarchs start to take political roles as they moved the people to factories, the labs, mines, and intercity industrial farms to revolutionize the city and boost their use of Redstone as it formed the foundations of the Empire. The Empire itself was named after they started to unite the state and aimed their armies on Texas. The warlords of Louisiana were much of a distinct threat but they serve for examples of polishing the Imperial army doctrine and boost their technological research and advancement into Redstone, trying to see more military and industrial applications to fuel their war machines.

Their invasion of Texas was met with mixed results but the resemblance of a government allowed people to gravitate towards the Empire and were willing to join their army and commit to unifying Texas. Warlords tried to band together but met with thousands of tanks and deep battle tactics that broke them despite Cajun and Texan casualties. Because of this, the Empire started to move towards a mixture of volunteer work and started to make acceptance of the growing number of mutants who were able to live in the Redstone without much gear.

The battles were dangerous and deep but the innovations of Imperial technology had made them more advanced than what they were before. The factories and reactors produced more goods than they used too but people still lived in worse conditions than the rest of the world, but it was better than living on the outside. Texas was eventually united and bolstered their population and raiders were still a problem. The Empire started to move the army up north into Oklahoma and the other parts of the state as the oligarchs had plans to make an expansive railroad system throughout the Imperial lands to help with transportation and safety of the people.

It wasn't until the expansion into the northern states that the first part of the railroad had been completed and started to have their first nationalized rail transports for seasonal workers throughout the dense Redstone forests. They added a second layer five years after when they were moving west to the less denser regions to secure more agricultural sources to send back to the armored cities. The invasion was difficult because of the population was larger than Texas or Louisiana but the march of an organized and advance army and airforce allowed them to secure the west with Mobile being one of the largest cities in that area.

In the dawn of the second decade came with some sort of pride in being a Cajun, a strong economy and fairly formal government in the Redstone, and a powerful army that can defend its people. However, the imperialism of the Empire is stronger than ever as they have been eyeing the west for a sense of agricultural food or the Caribbean to try and march to the south. Their is rising tension between the people and the government on its research into genetic manipulation based of the Abomination that can survive in Redstone. The government proclaimed that is much more economically feasible to do this than continue expanding but it hasn't stop hate crimes or anti-mutant sentiment from being on the rise.

Most importantly, the economy has started to stagnant with no new source of manpower or food sources to keep a growing population, people have been saying that there hasn't been a job surge like since the beginnings of the Empire and the military can't recruit as many volunteers as they used to. Still, things have been stable for the most part but what lies ahead for the Empire only time and fate know.

~Notable Features~
The Imperial Railroad: The second nationalized industry beside the Redstone reactors. It connects all over the Empire as a means of providing ease of transport through the dense Redstone forests and away from raiders.

Mutant relations: While still ostracized by the world, the Empire had been able to ease the tensions between them by giving them citizen rights and allow to be part of the army. However with the government experimenting with genetic engineering has sparked tensions between mutants and humans again.

Culture of Industry: The manufacturing sector is the largest job provider in the country. Ruled privately by the powerful oligarchs and fueled by Redstone, the country use the factories and economic rise as propaganda for hard work, economic drive and striving to make the country better. The only two things that's keeping them from being richer is their population and low amount of agricultural land in contrast to their work ethic.
