Bright from a young age, Lincoln educated himself to become a lawyer, and was later elected to the Illinois House of Representatives. After his tenure in state politics, Lincoln served a single term in the House of Representatives, where he opposed the Mexican-American War. Lincoln returned to politics about a decade later, when he got involved with the state Republican Party and ran for Senate. Though he lost the race against Stephen Douglas, he achieved national prominence for his anti-slavery views. Despite his loss in the Senatorial election, Lincoln went on to win the 1860 Presidential election after a 4 way race, despite losing every southern state. Lincoln's election prompted the Confederacy to declare independence from the Union.

Name: Ulysses S. Grant
Age:40
Birth State:Ohio
Description:(Image)
Allegiance: United States of America
Rank: Major General
History:
Hiram Ulysses Grant was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio, on April 27, 1822, to Jesse Root Grant, a tanner and merchant, and Hannah Grant (née Simpson). His ancestors Matthew and Priscilla Grant arrived aboard the Mary and John at Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630.[2] Grant's great-grandfather fought in the French and Indian War, and his grandfather, Noah, served in the American Revolution at Bunker Hill.[3] Afterward, Noah settled in Pennsylvania and married Rachel Kelley, the daughter of an Irish pioneer.[4] Their son Jesse (Ulysses's father) was a Whig Party supporter and abolitionist.

Jesse Grant moved to Point Pleasant in 1820 and found work as a foreman in a tannery. He soon met his future wife, Hannah, and the two were married on June 24, 1821. Ten months later Hannah gave birth to their first child, a son. At a family gathering several weeks later the boy's name, Ulysses, was drawn from ballots placed in a hat. Wanting to honor his father-in-law, Jesse declared the boy to be Hiram Ulysses, though he would always refer to him as Ulysses

In 1823, the family moved to the village of Georgetown, Ohio, where five more siblings were born: Simpson, Clara, Orvil, Jennie, and Mary. At the age of five, young Grant began his formal education, starting at a subscription school and later was enrolled in two private schools. In the winter of 1836–1837, Grant was a student at Maysville Seminary, and in the autumn of 1838 he attended John Rankin's academy. In his youth, Grant developed an unusual ability to ride, work with, and control horses.Expressing a strong dislike for the tannery, Grant's father instead put this ability to use giving Ulysses work driving wagon loads of supplies and transporting people. Unlike his siblings, Grant was not forced to attend church by his Methodist parents. For the rest of his life, he prayed privately and never officially joined any denomination. To others, including late in life, his own son, Grant appeared to be an agnostic. He inherited some of Hannah's Methodist piety and quiet nature while adopting his father's Whig political inclinations.

That depends on your actions probably.

Hopefully this time he can boost morale of his troops without getting being the way of their bullets.

Anyone got a good source for all the specifics of the divisions of the Army of Mississippi at this point of the war?

I also probably will be helping out in the campaign with my second character, as commander of the Reserve Corps.

History: Loring was born to two Lower class farmers in North Carolina. At the age of four, he moved to St. Augustine, in northern florida, where his military career began. At the age of 14, he joined the Florida Miliita, where he gained his first war expierence fighting Seminole Indians in the conflicts that would be later known as the Seminole Wars. Then, at the age of 17, he ran away from his home to fight in the Texas War of Independence, to which his father had to scour everywhere to bring him back. The following years would be marked by promotion to second lieutenant after fighting in the Second Seminole War, and a short lived Political Career which he served in the Florida House of Representatives, and an unsuccessful run for Florida Senate. In 1846, he joined the newly formed Regiment of Mounted rifles, a brigade intended to defend the territory of Oregon. While serving the troop, he was promoted to major without even seeing battle. His regiment was then sent off to fight in the Mexican American war, where the regiment fought in most of the battles. Lorings arm ended up getting amputated after getting shattered in the charge to Mexico City. He was then given command of the Oregon territorry, where he saw some skirmishes with Indian tribes, and was promoted to Colonel, the youngest one in the US army. A couple of years thereafter, he traveled to Europe to learn about the new military innovations being conducted in the Crimean War. He visited many countries before returning to the states, such as Great Britain, Prussia, France, Italy, Turkey, and Austria Hungary. When the Civil War broke out, he immediately gave his military skills to his homeland, the Confederates. He ended up resigning from the US army, and the Confederates promoted him to Brigadier General, then Major General shortly thereafter. He was promoted and distinguished for gallant and meritorious service at Contreras and Churubusco where he was wounded.

After the war he would be married, promoted to captain and serve as a quartermaster in Minnesota and Missouri. He would participate in the Third Seminole War, Bleeding Kansas and the Utah War before being stationed in Southern California. WIP app that I'm posting to be corrected, I'm somewhat thinking I should do something more for the Corps section other than just linking it to a Wikipedia article. Ill get the stats of Order of Battle tomorrow unless someone supplies them tonight.

I'm new to RPs of this sort, so I 100% understand if you want a more experienced player to have this role.

Bad news, I'm helping a relative move their stuff this weekend, and they live in NC. Issue is, they don't have wifi and I'm using data to type this. Go ahead and drop my reservation and let someone else app as Johnston, and then I can app as someone else later. (Unless you get unlucky and no one else wants to app as him, in that case I'll PM you on discord about it Monday.)

Ah, sorry for overlooking that.

It's good, but could you work on the biography a bit? He's rather one-dimensional at the moment.
