The five ships of the Lavarian Expedition Fleet were difficult to spot if one were to use the red dwarf star of this unknown galaxy. Thankfully, for the Kletterians, this dim light was nothing unusual compared to back at home.
The Kletterian homeworld - Dasan - is a habitable moon that orbits the second gas giant of the Dasan Star System. The landscape of Dasan is defined by mountainous taiga or jungle archipelagos with the largest islands being approximately 700 to 1,000 kilometres big.
The red and blue binary stars - combined with the distance - create low lighting and poor ambiance that gave the Kletterians their uniquely large eyes. So it came to no surprise by all Kletterians that this new star system started off with a red dwarf star.
Captain Waltherkith knew that this red dwarf star was not going to allow his ships to get up to speed as much as multiple or brighter stars. Subsequently, he knew according to his navigators that it would take two days to sail towards these aliens' homeworld.
Unlike the Dasan Star System, there was no extra star to provide that extra luminosity and solar energy to propel the Kletterian solar sail ships. So it only came to the better judgement of Waltherkith that he used that time to conduct some research.
Like any expedition, Waltherkith decided to have his two sloops scout ahead and scan some of the first planets they saw in their sights. Though the sloops were armed, the Kletterian ships weren't there to start a war the moment they scouted ahead.
This was an expedition fleet - the same fleet that Waltherkith commandeered along with his venerable flagship. The sloops were there for reconnaissance and anti-starfighter duties, so the sloops were passive as they sailed ahead.
The first planet that they spotted so far was lightly scanned via a combination of the ship sensors and unmanned probes launched into space. Being vastly faster and nimbler than the other three ships, the two sloops only managed to acquire a brief scan before the galleon, frigate, and brigantine slowly sailed into view.
What took the sloops hours to reach the first planets took a day and a half for the other three ships to catch up. The sloops were lighter and smaller, along with their two large sails providing enormous thrust for ships of their size - like a two-door sedan wielding the engine of a racing boat with turbochargers included.
While the sloops were only in orbit of the first planets for hours, the probes would only act as landmarks to reference the location of each planet and their last collected information. That way, the fleet can return to conduct further research later on.
For now, the expeditionary fleet pressed on towards the Techulos homeworld...
