HLFFS Whitney

The famed Kraician Whitney-Class Submarine, HLFFS Whitney, had a reason why she was called, The Shadow Hunter (or Black Devil). While she was cloaked within the darkness of the ocean, it didn't take long for Whitney to hear the distinctive boom of explosions on the surface and sending a few more abyssals to the depths. The abyssal cruiser that Whitney just crippled was now sinking to the bottom of the ocean - with the burning and mangled wreckage sinking in the distance from Whitney as she laid in the shadows.

"May your fellow witchmates meet you in Valhalla...," Whitney sarcastically bid farwell to what used to be an abyssal cruiser, " For you will return bereft and begone to thy wind. Amen."

Whitney humorously chuckled before briefly performing the sign of the cross as the abyssal cruiser's remains forever disappeared into the watery oblivion. Now, it was time to get into contact with whoever was still out there in the sortie - knowing that surfacing immediately was an instant death sentence for a ship of her type and shape. So without a further ado, Whitney carefully arose to a safer depth and looked around in all directions - finding that no abyssal shipgirls were in the area.

Sticking her antennas up to the surface meant breaking her sleek and stealthy signature by a slight margin, as the antennas would allow her to have long-range communication capabilities to get into contact with other friendly units; however, this was still a gamble nevertheless since tiny bits of her vulnerable inside can be detected by powerful enough sonar equipment. Nevertheless, she let her antenna stick out of the water while she was idling underwater, and she began sending encrypted radio signals to nearby friendly shipgirls. And almost immediately, there was one ship in mind that instantly recognised her transmissions...

"Early in thy mornin', mate!" HLFFS Baylee gleamed to life on the radio transmission, "What took you so long, Wendy?"

Whitney chuckled as Baylee's voice on the radio transmission gave her a sigh of relief, "I've been busy fishin' out for good olde cod. Want to know how many I got?"

"Of course. Now come to thy house ASAP, Wendy." Baylee cryptically replied back while retaining a happy voice, "Would not want to spoil your prized shillings."

"Wilco." Whitney bid farewell for the moment as she began to steered into the direction of Baylee's location - that being eastward - and trudge through the depths of the water. She was only going to surface when she was in range of Baylee's armament and other allied ships; however, come to think of it, Whitney began to receive the friendly signals of other allied ships near Baylee, and the reception was mixed. It was only as she inched closer and closer to Baylee and the other allied ships that her signal was intercepted by the other friendly shipgirls in the area, and it wasn't long until Whitney was in range that her decryption computers alerted her to some of the surprises from the other shipgirl's sailor fairies...

"Unidentified Ship Detected - Westbound." - (Other Shipgirl Sailor Fairy Dialogues)

"Hold your breeches, lads! This shipmate is one of ours!" - (Baylee Sailor Fairy Dialogues)

Without a moment's notice, Whitney retracted her antenna to quarter mast and she arose to the surface with her head and shoulders sticking out the water. While water was still dripping around her upon arising to the surface, Whitney lifted her NVD headgear up from her eyes and pulling down her 'balaclava' to reveal the lower half of her face. The Kraician Black Devil had finally revealed themselves to the fleet, with the sailor fairies on Baylee's gun posts saluting to her...

Brightbell would also receive contacts roughly the same time that Ketrin did, blinking once and back towards the colossal ship, listening to what she had to say. Then, it hit her-- she would be the only one to shoot down all of those juicy, delicious air targets. The sole purpose to which she was designed would be fulfilled. For the first time in ages, the girl could feel a slight smile coming across her face, as a feeling of excitement washed all over her.

"Copy that-- five-by-five, aerial contacts bearing 355, over. Engaging targets now."

And after that brief radio chatter on her part, once more would the Regrian girl smile-- almost enough to grin. Her fairies knew what was about to happen, as all of them got into positions and manned every single anti air gun on the vessel. Each individual turret's triple guns would raise and lower, as they readied themselves for the one thing that they knew how to do best-- yes, the one thing that the Regrian Brightbell-classes were oh-so-famed for. The one thing that made other navies tremble at the thought of it being used in certain circumstances. The thing that could theoretically bring an entire fleet carrier fleet to it's knees.

...Anti-air.

And as such, this AA cruiser from Regria would slowly raise her weapon, the beautifully-polished wooden stock resting both against her shoulder and cheek, pointed upwards towards the sky at an angle as she sailed forwards, leaned in. Every turret and their guns would move about, aiming towards the relatively small cloud of planes that was approaching. The smaller, less notable guns would point towards the aircraft as well, before...

"Say hello to my little friend, ya' dingy twits!!!"

And with that passionate, loud cry, Brightbell would place her finger on the trigger and at last-- pull.

The firerate was nothing short of astronomical. Rows after rows of triple 3-inch flak opened up, sounding more literally like a machine gun firing destroyer shells. Screaming VT flak shells screamed into the skies, as the Bofors, 20mms, and .50cals would all open up as well, though the weapon with the 3-inch turrets was the main attraction, rattling away and creating a heavily percussive rhythm of gunfire, as she fired in long, deadly bursts akin to a true Submachine Gun. Explosions carpeted the skies as the Cruiser's shells would have made life all but a living hell to the remaining fighter aircraft, Brightbell herself smiling passionately throughout.

SPN Sergei Malinokov,
Unknown Sector

Sergei steamed forward, his engines pushing him at 29 knots while he trailed close to several other ships. "Prepare to launch scout plane." The captain said, as Sergei heard pressure building in the catapult. Moments later, he watched as the Be-6 Sea Plane rocket over his left shoulder, the mechanical whine of it's single engine pushing the plane higher into the sky. Several minutes past as Sergei waited for the spotter to begin relaying target coordinates for his 190 mm guns, but the only thing he heard was the disappointing news of nothing spotted apart from smoke almost 75 km away, but when he heard Kertin fire, he had no doubt that by the time the rescue fleet would reach the convoy, there wouldn't be any Abyssials left to fight. But, Sergei contented himself with the idea of no battle damage for the foreseeable future and a smile broke his somber glare. Almost half a minute later, his spotter reported several large shell impacts sending water almost half a km high before the spotter returned to refuel. Hey Catherine, mind saving some for the rest of us? Sergei said, laughing at his own jab at the siege ship.

The battleship girl offered a smile, nodding.

"Of course. After all, I was designed to engage capital ships. Anything they throw at us shouldn't be a problem." Looking off towards the convoy, she regarded the scene carefully, her eyes scanning over the horizon expectantly.

"Those warplanes seem to be retreating. Novaya, are you following them back? You may be able to ascertain the location of another possible enemy composition if you do." Coriolanus put a hand to her brow, shielding her eyes from the sun. Lowering it after a moment.. her stomach grumbled, causing her to put up an embarassed frown and rescind her hand. "That's what I get for skipping breakfast, I presume.."

I smiled at him a bit. "Don't worry, we'll get something into your bunks in a bit. Just hang on for a bit...?"
I trailed off as I beheld one of the girls in the remains of the convoy - well, when we were girls, she was a woman, a woman of the seas, tanned and in her swimsuit, but a woman nonetheless. One, that many men would love to take to see a movie and then dancing, as I heard.
"On second thought...", I said and frowned, deeply. Amy and I were not on good terms with each other and there was a reason for it. "...I'll secure the perimeter, you go ahead and render any assistance you can. If you have trouble, please say so."
And with that, I broke off, making a long arc.
I could remain professional, Amy could, too, but... better not risk any chances.

With the rather distinctive form of Rhiannon breaking off, I sighed.
Not on good terms or not, that was only delaying the inevitable.
Still, I turned back to helping Yuubetsu, sending my boats out to patrol and scout, keeping the air clean with their small AA-guns. I waved at the rest of the relief-fleet as well.
Currently, Yuubetsu seemed safe in Monty's arms... darn battleships.
From one moment to the next, however, something changed: One of my boats believed to have seen something in the water, that looked like antennae. Subs? Was everything alright?
She bade the boat to keep the eyes peeled and...
...there was a submarine! Surfacing, not too far away, I prepared to screech a warning, until one of our destroyers, a cute little lassie, greeted the sub like it was an old friend. The fairy-crew of the small Reathai-class Boat relaxed visibly, as did I, biting back the scream.
And there was the moment, when the little sub turned to base and headed out.
"Give her an escort, gentlemen!", I ordered my boats in a whisper, immediately the little torpedo boat was joined by two comrades, who used their superior surface speed to link up with the submarine, which surfaced with the destroyer's crew standing at attention.
My lads greeted her as well, before the commander of one of the boats yelled "Oha!" to the little sub.
In essence, they were telling her not to worry, the Reathai-class boats, fairy manned and with only a few anti-air weapons and their torpedoes, were kindly greeting her and offered to provide her escort. The commander even took his hat off, like an officer and gentleman.
I couldn't help but be proud at my well-raised fairies.

As the salvo of the massive battleship splattered into the sea, the Wo sighed in relief.
Once more, sprung from the clutches of death. Shaken, and this time a bit less then last time, and she would need time to regenerate and to replace her losses, but time was, what she had. Meanwhile, she could escape and plan her revenge. A dish best served cold, as they said, but in her case, it would be also served with a side of explosives.
Her volunteer complement, meanwhile, was shredded by a little cruiser, but that was fine. They were not supposed to survive, only to be a distraction while the Abyssals escaped. By sheer miracle, while the cruiser was gone, the destroyers from the torpedo attack mostly survived so far, still trading shots with that destroyer, but regardless of that...
...this was a strategic victory for her, she thought: She had destroyed the freighters of the convoy. Tactically, she had been soundly defeated, but strategic, she could claim with confidence, she had won.
Meanwhile, while the fighters and divebombers fell like flies, two torpedo bombers managed to align their shots well, somehow slipping their torpedoes in, two dropping and pulling up - only to be disintegrated, not to see, if their torpedoes, fired at the little cruiser in front of the massive battleship, hit something.

Diamantina
Enroute to OS WS-SW Base

Diamantina was shaking, she'd been stationed in another sector for a while now, but rarely saw action. And suddenly she'd been shipped off here, to the Wide Seas South-West in a supply convoy intended to take the brunt off the forces there. But it went bad, the convoy was practically decimated, ships were damaged and shit had officially hit the fan.
Unfortunately for her, she took a bomb to the starboard deck, clipped the far side and blasted a hole in the hull. It had thrown off her fire control and she was taking on water, slowly, but it was happening. She was too shaken to do anything about it, it was the first time she'd been hit and she didn't even think to realign her guns. She turned to the rest of the convoy as they approached the base, realizing she'd drifted away from the group slightly. She turned to port, veering slowly back into the group and reducing her speed to that of the lead ship.
She looked at the group as they made their way along, it was a mess.
The massive plumes of water chasing the Abyssal fleet away caught Diamantina's attention, she'd heard rumors about a so-called Super-Battleship, and it seemed the rumors were true.
She tuned her radio frequency to the fleet, and she fought to keep her voice calm and cool.

I looked over to the stricken battleship and damn, she had been hit really badly, most likely taking water. Sure, Caty was taking care of giving the Abyssals a piece of our mind, even under air attack, but that didn't mean, that we were all safe and without worries.
Quite on the contrary.
"Diamantina, the hostiles have been chased away and we're giving them a piece of our mind.", I told her over radio, looking her over, frowning as Amy turned, "Do you require assistance?" If she needed it or not, the Destroyer Tender rushed over as soon as she was sure that the cruiser in a battleship's arms was safe, and started fussing over the stricken battleship. "Any further assistance, I mean?"
Indeed, the destroyer tender was good at tending to destroyers and smaller vessels, but not completely helpless when it came to aiding larger vessels. Despite our differences, even I could respect that.

As Tokai was finally dropped off at the docks, the three ships returned with Kokai as escort. "Tokai has been docked, we should leave now and return back to base. Tokai would like to introduce herself as fast as possible, so please return before she finishes the food supply. And speaking of that, isn't it lunch now?" He said, before turning around to defend the base as the supply ships pulled a few large boxes out.

"Here, today's bento. Today we have left over braised beef, tempura and some coleslaw."

"For dessert once you're done we have some light chocolate cake, nothing too clogging."

The twins said, opening the boxes before closing it and placing it back into the large boxes as they sailed back to port.

"R-Really, I'm fine just a bit of water. There are others worse off."
The bomb blast was positioned in such a way that it dug into the armor plating before detonating, creating a sort of tear in the armor that stretched for a number of decks.
She stopped for another moment and took some heavy breaths, trying to compose herself once again.
"I should be fine until we reach the base, I can get it checked out then."
As she said this however, water had begun flooding the engine deck, already two of the eight boilers were extinguished, and she noted that she was having to increase the throttle to retain her speed. She ignored it, assuming that it was the added weight of the water.
The third and fourth boilers were extinguished. She pushed the throttle up again, lurching forward slightly until returning to her previous speed.
"Something's wrong," she exclaimed as she fell back again and her speed dropped, the fifth boiler giving up also. The last three boilers were positioned on higher decks, and were safe from the flooding unless it reached peak flooding.
The safety valves on boilers 6-8 opened to relive the excess pressure and large plumes of steam erupted from tubing on the stern deck. Her speed kept slowing a bit more until it kept at a steady 19 knots.
She hung her head, ashamed in herself, "I might need a tow..."

I smiled as I was keeping the battleship close company, a bit bemused, but also comfortingly. She had dropped considerably in speed despite her assurance, that everything was alright.
"Take my hand.", I instructed, then looked to the remaining boats of my torpedo boat division. "Gentlemen, we might need some extra horsepower here!"
And as the little torpedo boats with their massive engines began to arrange themselves to help the striken battleship, me myself motioning for one of the new arrivals from our new base to come over and help me with Diamantina, Rhiannon came.
A court and short nod was exchanged and then the light cruiser began to tow along with us.
Said light cruiser raised her hand to her air, her voice both over the radio and in person, a few metres from me as I sent crew over to help with the damage control effort. Her voice was clear. "Alright, people, let's pack up and head back to base. Kokai, keep on watch for the moment.", she said and exhaled deeply, "May the dead rest peacefully tonight."

Diamantina felt nothing but shame as she was helped along, this was not the start she was hoping for with her new comrades. She began to worry whether the same situation at her last deployment would occur here due to this event. She hadn't even fired her main guns, as they now rotated back and forth lazily as they constantly tried to compensate for the weight change.
"I-I didn't catch your names," She asked the ships helping her back to base, while covering her face to hide her embarrassment.

"Negative. We got them on the run." Novaya said as he and Chrysantheme approached the convoy. "Knights of Salta, I want you to patrol our airspace while we bring what remains of the supply convoy back to base. The Night Fighters will help out in patrolling the airspace and waters for any more incursions." Novaya said to the Knights of Salta as he launched the Night Fighters, who then joined the Knights of Salta in patrolling their airspace. "Knights of Salta and Night Fighters, if you can, I want you guys to send three to ten fighters to scout the perimeter of the convoy." He added.

"If anything happens, I'll contact you fairies about what's happening. Just don't go farther more than thirty meters from your patrolling and scouting. Understood?" Chrysantheme said to the fairies of the Knights of Salta and the Night Fighters. "Rhiannon, we'll gather any fairies that survived the attack and bring them to the base for medication." Novaya said to Rhiannon as the two left to gather the surviving fairies that were on the water. "Knights of Salta and Night Fighters, change of plans. I want some of your guys patrol our airspace while we go get the surviving fairies floating on the water." Rhiannon spoke to the fighter pilot fairies. As a result, some from both fairy fighter groups split off to protect the two ships rescuing the survivors.

Diamantina
Enroute to OS WS-SW Base

Diamantina felt nothing but shame as she was helped along, this was not the start she was hoping for with her new comrades. She began to worry whether the same situation at her last deployment would occur here due to this event. She hadn't even fired her main guns, as they now rotated back and forth lazily as they constantly tried to compensate for the weight change.
"I-I didn't catch your names," She asked the ships helping her back to base, while covering her face to hide her embarrassment.

"She's...", both Rhiannon and I began, only to cut off, looking at each other sheepishly.
"She's Rhiannon, SDF-Navy.", I continued after a moment, "I'm SDFS Ámóg, but please, call me Amy."
"Or Mommy.", Rhiannon teased, earning a blush, but before I could retort, she raised her hand, listening to her radio, then sighed.

"Sorry, but I'll be picking up survivors. They need someone, who can defend oneself there."
"Go, we'll manage it, somehow.", I replied and nodded, then looked to the battleship, as Rhiannon disengaged, "So, who are you, if I might ask? I believe, that I missed your introduction..."
Out of the corner of my hearing, I heard the light cruiser speak into her radio again: "All other units, head home. Novaya, Chrysantheme and I will pick up survivors. Have the fairies set up a field hospital at the docks, I don't know, in which condition they're going to arrive!"

Yakaze, Off-Convoy

"Alright, people, let's pack up and head back to base. Kokai, keep on watch for the moment."

Watching four torpedo trails pass her by, Yakaze idly tracked the bombers who delivered them. "Wilco, ma'am."

Turning her back to the burning wrecks of the convoy, the destroyer began her trek back to base, and as the four Abyssal planes wheeled past her to disengage, a burst of AA fire ensured that only three would make it home...

"Exactly.", I replied with a grin and tugging Diamantina along, "Or SDFS Ámóg, if you want to be really formal, but Amy's fine." Suddenly, a burst of morse interrupted their conversation, one of the fairy-manned torpedo boats giving off morse as a way to communicate with the two ships. I flushed red, both in embarrasment as well as in pride, I was touched, really. "You rascals..."
The message, translated back, read: "Battleship Coriolanus - hurt our Mommy and we hurt you. Clear?"
Apparently, though, the fairies lacked one important detail: Coriolanus was a ship girl, as much as I was, and my hangar doors didn't swing that way. I'd have to give my pretties the talk, soon.

And suddenly, there was another cruiser at their side, with a nice accent, and helping me tugging the battleship.
I smiled. "Thank you, young man.", I told him with a thankful nod and looked forwards, where slowly, but steadily, the base came in sight. Apparently, they were indeed already preparing to receive wounded. "What's your name?", I asked the new cruiser.

Burning, one of the torpedo bombers went down, after their torpedoes had missed.
[That girl has sick beats.], one of the drones complimented, only to receive a glare from two others. [Sorry.]
[She'll live to die another day.], their leader told them with a groan, as apparently, while his wingman was now gone, not all shots had hit him, [We're out of torpedoes and a strafing run is out of question, too. Let's return home.]
They were the only ones of the volunteer group, which survived and although their torpedoes missed, they were received with open arms by their carrier's sister - their sister did not make it. The floating fortress made her into fine mist.

Diamantina looked taken aback with the use of 'Mommy' by Rhiannon, and she took a few moments to compose a response to their question, "I'm Diamantina, Lead ship of the Diamantium-Class."
She struggled under her own weight as the Cruiser suddenly veered off to sort out a rescue operation, grunting as she slowly sunk further and more steam poured from her engine's safety valves. Before another Cruiser came along, half-catching her and helping to pull her along to the docks. Which were now in sight, also supported by another Shipboy, handing out food and water to the crippled convoy.
"You didn't have to do this, thank you so very much. You saved my life." She spoke with genuine sincerity, trying her best to cast aside the massive guilt hanging over her by holding up these ships.
"We're finally here." She shuddered.

"We're finally here." She shuddered.

"Thanks.", I nodded to the aircraft carrier, a small grateful smile in his direction. I kept Diamantina's arm over my shoulder, fixed, and unscrewed the bottle of water. "Here. Slowly and steadily, searrach."
As I took care that she indeed drank slowly, then ate slowly, I answered Sergei.
"We were surprised.", I simply said, "We steamed along, a sizeable group of freighters and more of us for the escort, and suddenly, they were upon us like a pack of hungry wolves on a sheep during winter. Submarines below, aircraft above, battlecruisers on the surface... what you scared off was only the last battlegroup to pursue us and pick at us at their leisure, when their mates were long away and gone." I shuddered. "It was worse then the training fights against Rhiannon..."
I let a beat pass.
"Don't worry about the rest, though, they broke off long ago and steamed in the other direction. They shouldn't be anywhere near.", I added and then smiled at Diamantina, "You don't worry about a thing as well. We're all in this together and I wouldn't leave anyone behind. Ever." Or rather never again, but that's a different story.
I looked up and indeed saw the harbour closing in - there was coastal artillery and AA-emplacements, the large guns protecting our home for us. I saw several fairies with binoculars, scanning the horizon as our own aircraft returned.
"Indeed we are.", I added. "We're safe."

As Diamantina drank and ate, she felt as if she was coming back to life, the long trip, as well as the battle had drained her fuel to a point she was running on fumes. But the 'ration delivery' gave her the strength to make it. It'd make Amy and Sergei's efforts useless if she sunk in the harbour, mere metres away from safety.
But as Amy and Sergei talked about the Abyssal attack on the convoy, Diamantina felt a huge wave of guilt, anger and depression roll over her. In the battle she hadn't even fired a single shot from her powerful 16' cannons, the AA didn't even fire. She just stood there frozen as ships around her sunk.
She slumped over and peered into the water as they approached the harbour, hoping now that she would sink and could forget about everything.
She was tempted to say "Leave me here." But only a quiet whisper of the words was formed.

"They're coming! Get the harbour ready to perform repairs!" Himito shouted to the fairies as they began to work, getting Tokai out with a few magical green buckets full of weird liquid. As she walked out in her daily rigging, the ships had just arrived back at port. The supply ships immediately ran out carrying two large boxes as Himiko took a turn towards where the injured fairies would be sent. "The harbour is ready to perform repairs, being them in!" Himito would shout out again just as Kokai slowly got onto land while watching out for any fighters.

HLFFS Baylee and Whitney

On top of Whitney's head, four sailor fairies in the black and red Kraician sailor uniforms and caps were on guard with binoculars and the twin-barrelled machine gun available. The machine gun in mind had been deployed via a 'disappearing' stand that hid into the top of the 'tower' (Whitney's head), so that way her sleek and streamlined shape is not disrupted. The Kraician sailor fairies were on full alert for abyssal aircraft in the area - not to mention that Whitney was just as vulnerable like any other 'submarine' girl.

On the other hand, Baylee withheld no fear in anti-air combat - as if her 57mm twin-barrelled automatic cannons and nests of machine guns and 20mm cannons were any indication. She was fortunate stay within the safety of the other shipgirls for anti-ship protection while fending off against the enemy abyssal air squadrons. Still, some of the other shipgirls were not so fortunate to emerge with little to no damage from the engagement like Baylee, so it was only fair to find that Baylee retained a partially somber face.

"Took you long enough." Baylee teased as she and Whitney began to near the base in the distance.

"Oh I can fathom the fun I missed." Whitney chuckled as she sailed alongside Baylee's port side.

"There wasn't much of anything smighed as fun." Baylee said back dryly, with some of her sailor fairies on the machine gun and cannon posts sighing irritated, "I mean, we narrowly lost some of our fellow shipmates to those god forsaken witchfliers (abyssal airplanes)."

"I can tell." Whitney replied with a strange sense of curiosity to Baylee, "That cruiser from earlier had shot down some of them MBs (Kraician MB-Series Fighter-Bombers) alongside the other witchfliers."

"Bullocks..." Baylee cursed under her own breath, "Betta not be them flymates..."

"Sorry, what?" Whitney questioned with her head suddenly perking up from the cursing.

"Ah nothing." Baylee shrugged, "I'm just...tired, and hungry."

Moments Later

It didn't take long for the Kraician shipgirls to return to base, and it also didn't take long either shipgirl to get out of their rig gear and find themselves back in the casual shenanigans found on the base grounds...

Monty, naval base

He lugged the light cruiser along with him as he sped along. He was pushing his boilers past the red line, tugging the ship along with him. As he neared, he called out to the dock workers. "Jap light AA cruiser, torpedo hit to her cit-" this was when the damage from the second bomb hit teared its ugly head.

It seemed that, on top of taking a hit to his center, it damaged his boilers as well and combined with the cruisers extra weight had pushed them too far. 3 of his 4 Wilcox boilers when critical and blew. His eyes bulged at the sudden wave of pain and the renewed fire on his back.

He set the smaller ship girl on the dock and then, rather un-gracefully, threw him self in to the shallows, shut his engines down, and emptied his guns. "Alright, I'm done, no one die."

Turning and looking down,Coriolanus tilted her head to look down at the torpedo boats issued a warning to her. The battleship blinked, confused at the message in a number of ways.

"Mommy?" She asked, out of pure curiosity. "Do your charges see you as a maternal figure, miss Amy?" She pondered this for a moment, finding it quite unusual. "I have no intents on harming you. I don't mean to chide, but short of ramming me there's little you could do to harm me."
