Looking it up, that...seems like what it is. Unless I'm getting it wrong.

Basically. The Abyssals are the enemy, the 'bad guys', if you want to use that term, the Princesses, or Himes, being the stronger ones. Without wanting to spoiler too much of the anime, the Abyssals are Fallen Shipgirls taking a more monstrous appearance.

Ah, and I can play as one of those?
Nice. Sounds fun.

As you are a new player, yes, you can. However, once you were accepted as an Abyssal, you will not be able to play as a kanmusu, it's an either-or-decision.
Would you be interested?

Oh, wow. That is a...trade off, yeah.
I mean, I don't think I can make one of those anyways? My nation doesn't have a navy in the first place.

Apologies for vanishing off the face of the Earth. College has been eating me alive these past few weeks and this next one is looking like it'll be the worst - but things should taper off once finals start. Out of curiosity, would it be preferable to the overall plot for me to keep rolling with Lewis, or switch to either a shipboy or an abyssal? Noticed that we seem to have a shortage of both the latter classes :P

If you want to play as a Kanmusu, you can always play an OC, if you want, like Bermuda does. The important part is, that you don't play as a RL-historical vessel.
Abyssals are cooler, though - you get to play a Princess, after all, with two small squadrons of seven Abyssals each maximum (within reason and without any other Princess) and a lot of firepower herself.

If you want, you can play as both Lewis and a shipboy or two, kanmusu have a character limit of up to four (at the moment, might be changed), but if you decide to scrap her and go to the Dark Side, that'd be alright, too - it's up to you.
Good luck with your finals!

I don't know anything about making an abyssal princess, so I hope I'm doing this right. I also don't know much about boats, so feel free to call me out on stupid things.
Personell file - Operational Sector Wide Sea - South West

Name: NMS Comet
Type: Does Escort work?
Class: Limerick-class assault and escort ship
Role: Sort of an anti-mine ship, as well as something to just annoy opposing forces.
Nation of origin: Republic of New Munster
Year commissioned: 1911
Image or description of the ship girl/boy:
Image

Gender: He's a boy
Character: Comet is the kind of person that will come up with a plan for anything, and everything. The best feeling in the world to him is when a plan comes together perfectly, especially if it's one of his own, of course. He'll even make up plans when it's not really necessary for him to do so. He'll have a plan just for going to the bathroom or whatever. Uh, anyways, he's also a very gentlemen-like...man. He doesn't butt into people's conversations and he waits his turn to speak, he'll hold the door open for you and his manners are never forgotten if you meet him on the battlefield. Off the battlefield, though, that's a different story. He doesn't prefer big, brute force tactics, but instead he takes a hint from The Greatest and floats like a butterfly, and stings like a bee. He'll attempt to go around you in circles and just pepper you little by little with bullets until either something hits or your hull breaks and you're sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
Special abilities: An experimental style of propulsion that's supposed to make him go reeeally fast, also a damn lot of machine guns.
Technical Description of the vessel:
The Limerick-class of ship was made in response to the First World War, where the chaos in the ocean was a force to be reckoned with, and the Republic of New Munster had to develop a type of ship to protect itself, as well as help its allies in the Naval Campaigns in Australia and closer to the Northern Island of New Zealand. That was where the Limerick-class was made, designed to be the most annoying ship that the navy could afford to make. It was incredibly lightweight, having the bare minimum of what a ship would need to stay afloat and to achieve basic functions, and its main goal was to pelt its enemies with bullets. Not necessarily to cause damage, though that was also a priority, just not an incredibly high one, but to basically annoy the other ship and to weaken its hull so other ships could come in and finish the job. It was a surprising success when they were originally released.
Though, eventually, people had started to come up with ways to counter the Limerick-class, and due to that their use in the war would slowly come to an end, one by one as the people of New Munster had no use for them anymore. The ships would slowly be salvaged for parts for different ships, or would be sent out as mere decoys. The NMS Comet would face that exact fate, being shot down by a few enemy missiles coming from a ship hailing from the French Pacifique Regime, and instead of helping the ship out, they had let it sink. A betrayal that Comet did not enjoy, so his hatred towards how he was simply tossed like garbage leads to him becoming a abyssal...prince?
Technical Data
Displacement: 200 tons
Length (overall): 115 feet
Width: 18 feet
Draught: 8 feet
Propulsion: Mostly guided by propellers and a few early in development thrusts. Very experimental, but he has, like, three of them, so it helps him go.
Speed: Uh...how's 30 knots?
Complement: can house at the most 75 me , if you really wanna squeeze in. Comfortably seats about 55
Armament: QF 1-pounder pom-pom. He has, like, ten of these at least. Lots of firepower and a lot of bullet hell.
Armour: You don't need armor when you so fast.
Notes:

A few sentences or an article, please.

...you already did. So, he was basically a minesweeper used in fleet combat? Generally, though, he is alright character-wise, but from the technical side of things, he's too light (about 300 to 400 tons, I'd say) and too fast for a ship his size (although that depends on the powerplant onboard, to some extend).
Pending, so far, with a very good chance of being accepted - I really like the idea of an Abyssal-Prince.

The main problem with that is, that you need LARGE engines to achieve that speed, which aren't exactly of feartherweight themselves. I ran the numbers through a calculator, and for 30 knots, he put out "Number too large" for a 500 tons version, for 20 knots 22,777.1 HP or 16,991.72 kW - for comparison, the steam engines of the HMS Dreadnought produced that much power.
So... rockets? ; )

EDIT: What I wanted to add - Kraicia, I really love your post and especially the comparison between the T-15s and Reathaís. Thank you.

Well, I was thinking of them doing that every night, but the problem is that I dunno if the base has printing presses or photocopiers and computers.

A small printing press for administrative purposes and the base-newspaper, but no photocopiers and no electrical computers (mechanical computers should be obvious). And no, they may not built their own ones.

Can I lower it to twenty five and have that be acceptable, then? If I change the weight and all that?
Like...what's the fastest I can get realistically with this?
RP Types I Enjoy: God RPs (anything involving deities), alt history, medieval.

The major problem is, that there is a reference for the good Prince: R-boats, German WW2-minesweepers. Even the original weight would more or less fit - but they were unarmoured, far less heavily armed. That is where the 300 tons comes from, as 10 mm of armour and at least 10 1pdr pom-poms and everything belonging to it aren't light. That's what's throwing me off, mostly...
Running it through the aforementioned calculator, I came to 15 knots for 500 tons light displacement, with a power requirement of 2667.2 HP. Sounds plausible to me.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

I am no boat expert, like, at all, so take with a slight grain of salt, but Imperial Germany's WW1-vintage A-class torpedo boat (of comparable length to your vessel) did up to 28 knots with the displacement of 330–335 tons, so make of that what you will. Kriegsmarine WW2-era E-boats, also of comparable length, did up to 42 knots with displacements of 100 tons (max) and 78.9 tons (standard).

One small problem: The E-boats did 42 knots, yes, but they had a few tricks up the sleeves, the Lürrsen-Effect, for example, as well as beefy engines, as well as not a displacement hull. It was built to attain these high speeds. The A-class, which were torpedo boats, by the way (if we are talking about the same ones), only had the stronger engines.
The original question is not "Can the boat reach these speeds?", but "What do I need to do to achieve it and what does that mean for the boat?" It can reach the speed of 20 knots, as a 'normal' displacement hull, but only with a powerplant onboard, that has the output of the Dreadnought's.
Though, I did say, that it does not need to be Hyper-Realistic and I stand by my word.

(Good gracious, I spent far to much time working on SDY...)

The Novayan Fairy Admiral's asking if Coriolanus is interested in two mangas the Novayan ships and fairies are planning to make.

Ah, it's the armor that's causing it?
I can totally change that, if that's the huge problem.
He'd just have no armor, then? Didn't think about that. Heh.

If we take the armour out and thus reduce the weight to more manageable levels, say 200 tons (the armament needs to stay, right?), we can make it a semi-displacement hull as well and can reach the desired maximum speed of 30 knots relatively comfortably. E viola - problem solved.
