Gotcha, thanks! I will try to post one tomorrow.

I was actually planning on doing everyone else's first encounters in the second chapter or so.
I don't know what I'm s'posed to do.

Seems like a good time to drop a draft. Probably finished or close to finished at the moment.

I had a go at a sadder backstory for this one, transitioning a bit into something less melancholy and less depressing to write as :P Looking forward into bringing a bit of Silvas-style cheer into one of the groups.

Name: Michael E. Ernst T̥̬͙̱͎h̳̟͟e ̳͔̯̻̀Í̫̹͎ḷ͇̲̹͍̯l͓̼̗͕̪̳e̲͙̺͉̟͝g̗̰̝̼̠̺̪̕i̷̜̞̫͇t̖͔̼̳͙̫̲i͞ma҉̦̺̦̩̰̲̟t̬̥͉̕e̢͍̻̣͚̼
Age: 15
Sex: Male
Appearance: A little taller than the average fifteen-year-old and a little lanky, but Michael has a reasonable amount of muscle on his lean arms from a taste for sport. Keeps his hair in the style pictured.
Image

Personality: Unnecessarily abrasive and sharp-tongued to strangers. Often ends up driving people he doesn't like away from him. To friends, he's genuinely easy-going and relaxed in conversation and action, with a regular smile and a certain charisma. Usually an extrovert in friendly company and irritatingly so for some. Has a bit of an ego and narcissistic tendencies that fuels the rest of his personality.
Bio (two paragraphs at least):
When he was younger, Michael always looked forward to when his mother regaled him with stories of his father, telling him so many things about the mysterious man, who she loved for his words and skills rather than looks. She began with a name, and a rather unusual one: Quartz. He was an older man, Michael’s mother said as they sat together in their little apartment in Denver, Colorado. Quartz was one with a few wrinkles and heavy-set eyes alone in a bar frequented by university students. It was a nice place, but the fine checkered shirt and coat he wore were better suited a restaurant. Others were wary of him, but he didn’t leer at any girls or scowl at any of their boyfriends, reserving frowns for the cheap liquor the bartender mixed in with the usual stuff. She, a thirty-five year old law student working to get a masters to supplement her degree, went over to him out of curiosity more than anything.

Much to their pleasure, she managed to make him smile, albeit one that was strangely sad and unwarm. While she could have left his sorrows and easily settled for any other boy in the place with a chiselled jawline, Quartz’s conversation about worldly matters and his stories kept her in place, and the night ended with exchanged phone numbers and genuine smiles on both sides. A friendship bloomed, but as much as they enjoyed their talking, Quartz always remained a little distant, and preferred not to be seen in public with another. She worried for him, but he assured her nothing was wrong. There, the stories got wilder and more implausible, to the point that everyone laughed at Michael when he repeated them at school, and he, her son, usually so loyal and trusting of his mother in everything, began to doubt the story.

She always kept the details vague, but Quartz had apparently told and shown her 'wondrous things', things that no one else in the world could help to accomplish. He told her of himself and his family. To Michael, she portrayed Quartz as a remarkable man backed by a powerful and extremely rich British merchant family. She was swept away by his own stories, private things she never properly shared, enough that Quartz had to urge her to focus on her own studies. She slowly fell for him, gradually as she wore away each little piece of his mystery and facade. She told the story on and off for quite a few days, and in that time Michael rarely went bored.

But the good times came to an end. One night, months into their friendship, Quartz's memories drove him to drink more than he should have, and she drank in celebration of her final exams. Tipsy and confused, they made a grievous, unprotected mistake. He panicked when the morning came, and he left as quickly as he could. A few days passed without contact, and when she finally took the courage to find him again, he knew her better than she did, and in an instant the looks friendship disappeared, replaced with the frown she'd seen on that first day in the bar. He promised her that he'd return at some point. A long time would pass, perhaps, he said, but eventually. He asked her to give the child the name 'Michael Ernst', in the honour of one of many deserving people he knew. In a parting note as he walked out the door, he glanced back with sad, heavy eyes, and told her to give it the middle name "Everton".

One week, Michael's mother was heard retelling him the stories of his father, and the neighbours overheard. Being concerned with the strange, fantastical things that she passed for fact in the presence of her impressionable, trusting child. The nature of her stories resulted in her case being blown way out of proportion and referred to the Child Protective Services. For no other reason than sharing what she thought was true with her only child, Michael was taken away from her and placed into the custodianship of the state of Colorado. The I̶̵̶̡̛ń̴̡͘͟į̸̴t̢̛͢į́͡͝á̸̸͘̕t̕̕͠͡i͟v͞͠҉e̷̢̛ ̴͢ psychiatrist that examined her disappeared afterwards, but there was no oversight on her case and no one thought twice about the damning judgement passed on her.

Within days she had been committed to a psychiatric hospital and her medical file sealed, for a reason Michael was never told. He was whisked away from his hometown, and for similarly unknown logic he was placed in the ICPC (Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children), and in record time for such a poorly organised board, was sent off to a foster home in Kansas. At the age of eight, he found himself in the care of a nice family in the nice town of Bedfield. Everywhere he turned, people dismissed his mother as crazy and loopy. As he grew and his rationality began to develop, he started believing the authorities' explanations. His mother was out of her mind to him, and his father was just some married man caught fooling around in an affair who's phantom he blamed for upsetting his mother's mind.

His foster family welcomed him, but while he enjoyed their company, it wasn't home. In no time he was taking every chance he could to get out of the little suburban house and find some entertainment to distract himself. For a while he toyed with the idea of running away and searching for his father so he could force him to apologise to his mother, but he discarded that idea quickly. At school he performed well, enough for a considerable amount of compliments from teachers, but was no exemplary student in either academia or. Mood swings made worse by puberty drove people away, but in time he got used to being somewhat alone, saving his energy for his guardians, who were considerably more receptive than other teenagers.

Now, he's started to move on from his family, and despite the events of the last decade has found many things to be happy about and to distract himself. After all, this world's not all doom and gloom.

It's better to have fun than dwell on things, isn't it?

Strengths:
  • Fairly hard to scare or shock.
  • Reading others’ emotions (to a point)
  • Intuitive in conversation (when he wants to be).
Weaknesses:
  • Little worldly experience.
  • Overly eager to believe in sensible solutions, even when no logical answer exists.
Quirks: Goes straight-faced when nervous, and becomes liable to insult people for no other reason than to trigger an outburst and distract himself from anxiety through entertainment.
Worst Fears:
Shallow: Wasps/Hornets
Deep (Subconscious): His father and the rumours of his paternal family. Will often deflect any questions about his unknown heritage, or might stand resolutely behind the ‘official’ explanation the authorities have given him.

Dislikes:
  • Sleight-of-hand magic and similar deceptions.
  • Being misdirected.
  • Losing control of situations.
  • Discussion of his paternal family. The contradiction with his love of conversation can cause a few issues.

I'm asking since I had been asked for Danforth to run into Veronica, and figured that if you were finished - Main and I could get to work on that.

Oh, I was just gonna have the Big Bad Wolf chase after you for a a few more seconds before disappearing, since Danforth's just around the corner. I'd be cool with looking over your post too, though!

Nah, you didn't kill the RP. That side of things is a bit slower on posting, so you're all good! And yeah, no Discord, since they just pretty much defeat the purpose of OOC threads and kill RPs.

In a last, parting note as he walked out the door, he glanced back with sadness, and told her to give it the middle name "Everton".

For no other reason than sharing what she thought was true with her only child, Michael was taken away from her and placed into the ward of the state of Colorado.

He was whisked away from his hometown, and for similarly unknown logic he was placed in the ICPC (Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children), and in record time for such a poorly organised board, was sent off to Kansas.

*Likes:
  • Talking
  • Chocolate biscuits
  • School
Dislikes:
  • Sleight-of-hand magic and similar deceptions.
  • Being misdirected.
  • Losing control of situations.
  • Discussion of his paternal family. The contradiction with his love of conversation can cause a few issues.
Miscellaneous: Praise the Seven, Death to the King, The Para-Verse is All.
RP Examples: Every Para-Verse RP, or I think so. Could've missed one in the month or so in which I took a break from RPing,

Digging all of The Para-Verse stuff, of course. Also, good to have you back :D App's accepted, if you're done with it.

Pretty much am :)

What's a good group for Michael to introduce himself to?
COMMUNIST
"If we have food, he will eat. If we have air, he will breathe. If we have fuel, he will fly." - Becky Chambers, Record of a Spaceborn Few
"One does not need to be surprised then, when 26 years later the outrageous slogan is repeated, which we Marxists burned all bridges with: to “pick up” the banner of the bourgeoisie. - International Communist Party, Dialogue with Stalin.

ML, anarchism, co-operativism (known incorrectly as "Market Socialism"), Proudhonism, radical liberalism, utopianism, social democracy, national capitalism, Maoism, etc. are not communist tendencies. Read a book already.

Apologies for not posting in a few days, I’ve had a lot of study to do and then yesterday we got hit by a hurricane here so my electricity and internet connection isn’t very stable. But I will reply as soon as I can.

The group at the park are mostly just talking right now, while the group in Downtown are about to see some spooky stuff. It's whichever you prefer!

I don't think Christophia's character was talking to ours. He mentioned there being two boys, and we don't have two.

I'm going to assume that, since I haven't heard from KFL via telegram, everything is okay with the post. If there is, in fact, any issue with it - I can easily edit the post.

Hey, it's cool man, no problem!

I also can only write a few sentences and lines around NS for the moment. Feeling under the weather. :(

I think a fever/flu wave might have just struck Singapore. People coughing and sneezing left, right, and center.
