Your nation's recent history (if different from real life): During the 1840s, the Federation slipped into a state of Civil War between the members, some vying for independence, with others wishing to keep the Union. The rebels were winning the war until 1848, when General Jose Santiago led a counter attack to retake the former capital, Guatemala City. The battle, lasting 2 weeks, saw over 8,000 rebel casualties, to 1,000 Federal forces. For the next 4 years, Santiago would continue to gain a string of victories, eliminating the last rebel force on the coast of Honduras in 1853. With the war over, Santiago turned the army on the government, and took control for himself. All opposition was put down with deadly force, securing him and his family's rule over the nation. After Jose died in 1887, his son, Samuel, gained control, and planned an invasion of Columbia to incorporate Panama into the nation. In 1898 the offensive began as Columbia was focused on fighting rebels in other parts of the nation. The war would last until 1900, when Columbia would give the FRCA, control over Panama. The canal was finished in 1903 with US investment, and the nation stayed neutral in both World Wars as well as the Cold War. Some reforms have occurred, allowing for the formation of Senate, but the Vice President is always chosen from the powerful Morales family, with majority power lying within the president's hands.

Over the next three years, increasing ammounts of integration led to the official peaceful annexation of Belarus as a new Krai of the Russian Federation (With Minsk becoming a federal city.) This demonstrated from an early point, Putins interest in the revivalization of Russian hegemoney in the East.

This continued again, after the 2008 Georgian War, Russian/North Ossetian militas had infiltrated within the South Ossetian Army, and in March of 2009, led a coup de'tat that threw over the nominally Pro-Russian puppet that simply wanted independence from Georgia, and absorbed it into the Russian Federation a month later. Similar events occured in Abkhazia in June, much to international dismay, as Putin increasingly demonstrated expansionist desires.

The rest, is pretty much in line with history.

A majority of Swedes supporting a transition to a Republic following the complete domination of the issue on the national stage of the Social Democrats, radical left and socially liberal right wing, as well as the unpopularity of the new King Carl XVI Gustaf caused a return to power of the Social Democrats, drafting a new constitution based on the established unicameral Riksdag but replacing the King's ceremonial role with a weak presidency. The Swedish Presidency has since been established as an important position of stability and bipartisan mediating, as well as shaper of foreign policy. With its strong ties to the west, including Israel, Egypt prospers and becomes a major power in the region and a well developed nation.
