I’m just busy plotting optimistically. Developing most modern technologies will take time, since we’re rapidly leaving the window of what I can personally replicate, but I remain hopeful.

Another(unintended) consequence of Walker's will be his spreading of basic medical practices far and wide, such that mortality rates will see a noticeable hit in areas affected by the knowledge. I have no idea what practices the Imperium has developed, but no doubt these will build upon whatever theories you have. It'd be lols funny to have one of my peasant nurses debate an Academy Doctor.

Mm, quite so. There's also the fact that most areas outside the immediate periphery will likely benefit from increased medical expertise, while not being highly educated. Thus we won't see voluntary birth rates drop, but we will see a decline in infant and maternal mortality. So, likely a population explosion.

War posts are hard. Up to the rolls at this point I guess. Thought it was clever rolling the logs to break their line, considering the bronze would have bent under the weight and force, it would have knocked them down and made our force seem larger, but the iron was a difficult challenge to overcome if I read your post right. It made the initial charge more effective, since in a simple brawl in a tighter space like that would favor the better equipped Egpytians. Our advantage was the initial shock and breaking the line of the more seasoned and disciplined force, so I wanted to get the most out of that that I could.

If your wondering, I scoped out the area around the third cataract and there is a hillish structure a bit upriver that I based the spot on. I realize the old geography may differ, though I figured it be a safe bet there was something there.

So after completing my contingency plans and establishing new ideas, I have yet to come to up with a name for the Night Owl religion and need some help.

Yeah, shouldn't gone with a testudo or Phalanx. Or just basic shieldwall could help. I hope he doesn't mind being a vassal or a non-aggression pact.

No. All spirits are controlled by Mat. We will not change that fundamental belief.

The Pagan Crusade will take the Christians by surprise!

Also, are there native Hawaiians or Polynesian natives yet?

Probably not- if memory serves, most of the colonization of those islands was much nearer to the historical record, 1500 BCE and later.

Will do. Or, at least, will try. I have plans to try to take down Yekrenia and establish my own nation. I'm not planning on building Tokyo though; I'm planning on building a different capital.

And I don't think the Polynesians have gotten further than New Guinea yet.

Then I have my work cut out for me, but nevertheless I will have to make the trip to cross the Pacific. Though I could make it with significant losses but that's to be expected.

First post up! Took a bit longer than I would have liked because I kept getting sidetracked thinking about what kind of society I wanted to create further down the line. I think it might just be the weirdest combination of military dictatorship and democratic republic ever conceived. There's also the question of whether or not to stay pagan, as that seems to be a big deal here.

Kind of/sorta/not really. Like I said in the app, Angelo isn't actually comfortable being responsible for people, so the only thing he'll take a real hands on approach to leading is the military. As for economic/political stuff I'll have him lay the foundations for how those systems work, but after that he'll let a legislature take care of the finer details and actual maintenance of it. Except the requirements to run for legislature and to be an eligible voter are going to be kind of weird, and Angelo is gonna leave enough loopholes in the system that he can step in and make decisions unopposed if he feels like they start screwing up too much. I kinda think a society needs to experience, um, let's call it "growing pains", to develop as a culture, so I don't want to make every decision for them and coddle them too much.

Ulls wrote:So a timocratic republic? If you make chakrams then you will be the coolest country ever.

I am unsure what a timocratic system of government is, but a quick google search says "land ownership necessary to vote" and "love of honor is the dominant ruling principle." Both of which will be aspects of my civilization, so I guess it is timocratic if I'm understanding this right.

So, what ARE the actual chances of an Author wrangling their way to leading their own darn society? I mean, I realize that that's what most players here have set out to do - and it would certainly be very different RP if they didn't - but honestly? Just think about it. To an old stick in the mud like me it all seems a tad farfetched. No offense to the Bear Grylls among us, but I don't know how many 21st century people would actually manage to survive on dear old Earth four millennia ago. Being ageless and able to speak any language you felt like would certainly make things easier, sure - but who's to say that that means you'd wind up king of the hill? You could still starve. You could still get frostbite or sunstroke. You could still be mauled by a wild animals. Or who's to say some neolithic tribal chieftain wouldn't take an immortal as a slave? Or that one of his descendants wouldn't label you an evil spirit and lop your head off?

Aye, you're absolutely right. Which is why I've been riding pretty hard on folks that just pop up and suddenly rule a tribe or three. Rising to power isn't as easy as many may think- that's the whole reason for the "Neolithic folks are ignorant, not stupid" disclaimer in the OP :P
