Tracian, I know Egypt is Byzantine territory, but realistically speaking, the Egyptians would want some autonomy and I think a Byzantine protectorate in Egypt, like the kind outlined above would make sense. Unfortunately, this app doesn't meet the minimal level of quality that we'd require. And while yes, I did say that I would allow players to app for Egypt - there are certain things that Egypt would need. For one, the remains of Coptic Christianity are considered to be a heresy by the Orthodox Romans.

Unfortunately, even if a player would app for Egypt, Sinai and the area around the Suez are administratively and military directly under Constantinople's control. It's not like the Romans will necessarily block you, but they have the control.

Military ships, of course. Commercial ships would be allowed with the normal tax. Until the Romans realize that they have oil too, and that Arab oil is threatening their trade. That's when the Arabs will have to pay a much bigger tax per ship.
