Plot

The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, united by the Fire and Blood of House Targaryen. For 300 years they have ruled from Kings Landing, striking down all challengers, from the Blackfyre pretenders to their rival houses. Always under the strong, firm hand of a Targaryen King. Not any longer. Aerys II Targaryen, the "The Mad King," has sat on the Iron throne for some 20 years, allowing the realm to fall into a state of disrepair, and weakness. Vassals fight vassals and men call for blood.

The King's noble son, Prince Rhaegar, distrusted by his father for his popularity, yet respected across the Kingdoms for his skill in battle and his honour, has taken Lyanna Stark, only child of Lord Paramount Rickard Stark of the North, and spirited her away in a mad act of love. In response, Lord Rickard and his son and her Brandon, arrive at the capital of Kings Landing, to solve the crisis. Arrested by the Mad King, both were executed, and the heads of the younger Starks called for.

Now, Robert Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End and betrothed of Lyanna, and Eddard Stark, the new Lord of Winterfell, along with their mentor, Jon Arryn of the Vale, have called their banners, and risen in rebellion against the Crown's tyranny. As the winds of war sweep across Westeros, the smallest of people can change the tide of war, and the fate of the Seven Kingdoms. Will it be you?

Introduction

Hello everyone, and welcome to Game of Thrones: Downfall, my latest attempt at RP creation.

We will be exploring the the magical world of A Song of Ice and Fire, and changing the course of Westerosi history as we know it. Beginning just days after the start of Robert's Rebellion, some 15 years before the start of the TV Series, this RP will be a character driven affair, with significant political and faction based gameplay.

There are a few Rules to follow:
Rules
1) The OP and Co-ops are Gods, their word is law.
2) This is a fantasy RP but try and be realistic. Travel time, combat, and politicking are all important, dont go too crazy
3) No god modding, metagaming etc.
4) This is going to be a freeform RP, time will vary between posts.
5) This will be an RP based on character development and progression, do not expect storylines to develop for you, make your own and involve other players. If you are stuck with nothing to do, OP/CO-OP will give your a task or an idea.
6) Keep the Lore restricted to A Song of Ice and Fire material only
7) Have FUN

And now we move on to the character creation stage.
You may make your own house, however, they will be subject to stringent review, and canon houses are preferred. A new house may invent a new castle, but will not be able to take over lands or titles from a canon house. Your application will not be accepted until all fields are filled out.

If I can reserve the westerlands, I'll have an app up for Tywin and House Lannister tonight.

May I reserve Stannis Baratheon and the "defensive" portion of the Stormland's host? I'm not really confident im the best person to play Robert and his conquering army, but handling the logistics, some diplomacy and defence of Storm's End (and navy?) are well within my ability.

Of course, if you want all the Baratheons to be played together I fully understand.

That should be fine, Robert starts the RP in the Vale in any case. I would recommend you and the eventual Robert character keep in close contact.

Name: Hoster Tully
House: House Tully
Age:46
Gender: Male
Titles: Lord Paramount of the Trident, Lord of Riverrun
House Seat:
Image

House Sigil:
Image

Allegiance paid to: House Targaryen of Kings Landing
Appearance:
Image

Personality: Sharp, pragmatic, and loyal, with a deep love of his family, and his people, a tough soldier, and an energetic, engaged leader.
Skills: An excellent diplomat and politician, Hoster is well known to be a dutiful, and diligent overlord, with a strong administrative sense, and keen eyes for opportunity. While he is a tough soldier, and no pushover on the battlefield, he is largely overshadowed by his brother Brynden in this regard.
Military Strength: The Riverlands could muster some 45,000 troops, with 20,000 readily available with short notice,
Biography: Hoster Tully served in the War of the Ninepenny Kings, making friends with Petyr Baelish's father, which led to Peytr being fostered at Riverrun. During the War, Hoster distinguished himself as a calm and calculating commander, hardly a martial prodigy but cautious and competent. His Brother Brynden won acclaim for his part in the war as well, and his skill in arms and nose for tactics made the Tully's once more a house to be reckoned with. Hoster tried to betroth his war hero brother, Brynden, to Bethany Redwyne, but Brynden would have none of it. This began a decades-long feud between the two. Hoster's wife, Minisa Whent, gave birth to four sons and two daughters, though only Catelyn, Lysa, and Edmure survived infancy. Minisa died in childbirth with her fourth son, who also died shortly after. Minisa's death deeply saddened Hoster, who never fully recovered. Marriage continued to be a theme of Riverrun when Hoster once invited Arianne Martell to meet Edmure, but the offer was declined by her father, Doran Martell, Prince of Dorne, and forbade his younger daughter, Lysa, from marrying Petyr Baelish. On the eve of Robert's Rebellion, Hoster's elder daughter, Catelyn, was engaged to Brandon Stark, the heir to Winterfell. Hoster's primary goal is to keep the people of the Riverlands, and his family safe, and wants any form of conflict to end as swiftly and painlessly as possible, with as little disruption to the realm as can be achieved.
Notes: Brynden Tully (40), Catelyn Tully (18), Lysa Tully (16), Edmure Tully (14)

Reserve the Golden Company and House Blackfyre. If this is not allowed then I would like to take Rhaegar, his three Tower of Joy Kingsguard memebers and possible a non canon Targaryen character?

I would prefer the latter, after the Rebellion is decided one way or another would likely be a better time for a Blackfyre Character.

I dont see an issue creating a minor Targaryen character, so long as it is a minor relative, or bastard or something.

Are we allowed to make custom characters within canon houses?

I would allow it, so long as such character is not an integral person within the House.
A distant relative or bastard would probably be best.

He is a very proud, as well as very jovial in his disposition. Mace has a jovial disposition and enjoys social situations, such as feasts.

Biography: Mace Tyrell is the eldest son of Lord Paramount Luthor Tyrell, and Lady Olenna Redwyne. Despite his young age he has managed to maintain good relations with his vassals thanks to his genial disposition and ability to delegate. Mace has been aided in administration of his domain by his uncle and seneschal, Garth 'the Gross' as well as his mother, whose cunning and sharp tongue has earned her the moniker 'Queen of Thorns'. He maintains especially strong alliances with his strongest vassals, the Hightowers, through his marriage to Alerie Hightower, his uncle Moryn serving as Lord Commander of Oldtown's City Watch and his uncle Gormon serving as a Maester of the Citadel.

With the start of Robert's Rebellion, following the kidnapping of Lyanna Stark, Mace has remained loyal to the crown and King Aerys. However, his primary loyalty is to Prince Rhaegar, as he believes he will be a better king than either the mad Aerys or the mercurial Robert, and hopes that the heir will remember the Reach's loyalty to the Crown following the war.

Sounds good, Rhaegar and his Kingsguard it is. The extra character will just be a cousin, and be Rhaegar's squire.

The non canon character will be the son of Duncan the Small and Jenny of Oldstones. Sine he gave up the Throne for Jenny, this makes the character not in the line of succession as Duncan was passed over.

This is more my thing. I find myself able to write a lot easier in the later ASOIAF periods, especially when there are canon characters I can portray.

Going based on story it seems crucial someone is Robert, and as New Granadeseret is playing Stannis and the Stormlands army, perhaps I can play Robert as well as Jon Arryn?

OH thank goodness. One of my favorite Game of Thrones RPers will be playing as Robert. I was worried we'd get a wild card as Robert.

If the custom character you're making is the son of Jenny and Duncan, wouldn't he be atleast the same age as Rhaegar? Kinda odd he would still be a squire at that age

EDIT: Maybe a grandson of the two might make more sense?

Not really; historically (and I imagine in the cannon) there were plenty of "career squires" who, either for lack of ability/ambition or funds to pay for their own armor, horse, and weapon spent their entire lives without becoming knights.

Anyways, working on app today. Should be up by tonight.

But considering he'd be the son of a prince, I think it'd be pretty embarrassing not to be knighted in adulthood

Let's just say, he's not the best fighter in the realm. Plus he'll be a bit prideful and refuse any knighthood from his cousin until he becomes worthy of being a knight. He hopes that serving in the Rebellion will allow to be a knight.

I'm pretty excited to play Rhaegar. I like playing as Aegon VI, and I think I know how Rhaegar acted and thought. His son, Aegon actually fits a lot of the "requirements" for the Prince that was Promised.

Theories below:
Now, I don't know about you guys but I think the reason why Lyanna was taken is due to Rhaegar believing in the Prince that Promised. Since he was in talks with Maester Aemon I believe he needed "three heads of the dragons". He named two of children after the original conquerors (Rhaenys and Aegon) I think he took Lyanna in hopes of having a child (since Elia could not conceive any children) and naming her Visyena. Now depending on if you believe in R+L=J or R+L=D I think that Lyanna died in childbirth (Perhaps Lyanna loved Rhaegar but I doubt he loved her, but it's possible) If the child was a girl he probably would have named her Visyena (Dany) but if it was a boy I believe that since he was good friends with Maester Aemon planned to name him Aemon.
