Army Camp Outside Beijing

The Sherman Tanks drove back and forth, drivers getting valuable training time, some training their weapons on the nearby hills. The soldiers were happy and enthusiastic to try out new equipment, but Sun Li-Jen was less optimistic. He turned to the commanding officer of the camp, an experienced, mustached veteran of 59 years and said. "These men are good, but our tank army is in serious trouble, we need tanks, the Soviets have so many IS-2s at the border, not to mention KV-2s and T-34s, we need new tanks. We need to phase in more M24s, and import any new American tanks." The officer nodded in agreement.
"Our goal must always be to exceed the Soviets. Luckily we have the numbers to make that possible."
Sun Li-Jen nodded and looked into his binoculars, seeing how the tanks were doing.

Training Center Near Beijing

Sgt. Xi Hong Chao fought against the Japanese from 1937 to 1945. Years of shooting experience, and expert sniper, his kills were up with the highest, but even he did not know the exact number. He shot the discs calmly, each one shattering with each shot. His accuracy was scary, as it was for the Japanese. He smiled as another disc exploded, the competition was in for a tough time.

Mongolia

Mao listened intently. "I will apologize if my Mandarin is lacking. I have just started learning. And I'm assuming you know little of my native tongue, and I'd like to make it easier for you. Things have been difficult, most of our army was destroyed in Manchuria, and the rest scattered throughout China. The partisan networks have been broken up, and Zhou Enlai has his own Soviet so I hear. In Qinghai. We still have those who support us, and many remember the days of struggle. But the Kuomintang counter-revolutionaries vastly outnumber us. Any rebellion at this point would likely be a waste of time. Speaking of time, that's what we need. Time to regroup and reorganize. Rebuild from the ground up. And believe me, we have no plans to attack Chiang's band of reactionaries at this time." Mao replied in weak and mispronounced Mandarin.

Deir el Zor
The streets were filled with people shouting "Allahu Akbar" and running down the street some carrying rifles some machetes others just whatever they could find, but they all ran in one direction. The government office lay at the end of the street along the road government forces were setting up hasty defenses against the mob with machine guns and rifles. Aiming down the street one of the soldiers fell back blood pouring from his mouth. looking forward one of the men saw the massive mob move forward soem just stood while some ran to join to the crowd. One solider told his men to get ready but it was to late the mob was upon them slashing and killing. After the checkpoint was taken the mob ran towards the government office. Before they assaulted the building one of the men called out to the remaining soldiers saying that "It is Allah's will that they kill the infidel residing in the chambers the solider eyes filled with fear waved the crowd into the building.

Mohammed al Krif stood outside on the buildings stairs waiting for the mob to bring the governor out he heard the sound of fighting then he saw the doors burst open. In the crowd stood the governor blood poured from his head and his eye was closed due to swelling. Standing up he looked at him proudly he adjusted his uniform. Behind Mohammed stood five armed men and 2 cameramen. He waved his men and they kick him down to where he was on his knees his face looking up looking back he saw that the cameras were live walking forward he readied his gun. "This is a message to all Infidels and their imperialist puppets." walking towards the man he aimed his gun to the back of his head and pulled the trigger. The body fell face first blood seeping from the head wound.

Chief Military Command, Paris, France

The room was filled with heavy cigarette smoke. A small group of ministers and generals stood looking at a stack of military maps that was strewn across sturdy oaken table. Several hours ago report was delivered from Hungarian embassy that said that Hungarians are preparing for a possible military intervention in Greece. The meeting of chief command was called by Minister of War, Colonel Apolônio de Carvalho. Although Carvalho was born in Brazil he gained great respect in France by fighting in the resistance and he gained citizenship and got picked for a government seat by Thorez. Some of the older military brass scoffed at the choice, but they couldn't deny he was one of the most capable men out there when military matters were concerned. He spoke softly, his Brasilian accent emerging only when he was excited.

"Hungarians are preparing 40 000 troops to aid Greek partizans if things go south for them. With Yugoslavia closely bordering Greece, I think things are bound to escalate there. A communist ally on the Mediterranean would help our strategic interests, now that we are facing the danger of losing Tunisia and Algiers to monarchist governments."

General Jean de Lattre de Tassigny, known war hero responded: "Our North African Troops remain stationed in Tunisia, and will probably stay there until the Reorganization of French colonial holdings. Next year we will probably have to retreat, unless there is a special clause to the agreement between the government and the Bey that will enable us to keep a hold on our military bases."

"I believe comrade Thorez will negotiate such deal. Bey might be easily persuaded that our army will help him in case of attack from Egyptian millitants. How many troops are we talking about in Tunis?"

"Not all of them are in Tunis. Some are in Ramada, some are in Algiers. But during the next month we can station 25th Airborne division, 6th Marine regiment, 5th North African infantry division, 9th light armoured Marine Brigate,11th and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Marine infantry regiments, together with ships and transport planes that are to deploy them. In case of escalation in Greece those troops are to be deployed to Patras, take the town for our Greek allies and thus gain control of the Corinth gulf. " The aging general's fingers, holding the cigarette, pointed to the key places on the military map.

"Excellent. We will make sure conflict with Greek monarchists is soon resolved if it comes to that. This meeting is over, comrades, it's been a pleasure."

SDECE Headquarters, Paris, France

"They shot him and they filmed it!? The governor?"- the small mustached man was pacing left and right along the office. The well dressed Syrian, in a western suit and fes, calmy sat across him smoking his pipe, filling the room with heavy aroma of lathakia tobbacco.

"They did, comrade Palgrise. I don't know why they shoot him for. It seems that they want to send a message. People of Syria are angry with Al Khoury because he is pandering to the English and Americans and they don't like it. They want a strong islamic state."

"Mon Dieu..." Plagriese murmured. "Listen to me carefully, Farhad. I want you to take 15 man with army experience and go to this guys. Have some old Syrian army uniforms and say that you wanna join. And make sure to report to me anything they might be planning. Syria might be a free country now, but this area is still strategically important for France and for socialism."

"I understand, comrade commissar. I'll be on it right away."

Mongolia, China

Dr. Pelletier spoke in return: "Alright, I'm deployed as a medical doctor in the vicinity, so I guess we will be able to stay in touch. It is important that we stay strong, comrades!

With those words she went back to her horse and rode to town.

SAMDC (Cape Town):
Engineers were fussing over making the very first production model of the Voortrekker. The squeeze-bore was triple-checked, with the new, 600 hp engine powering on. The 17-pounder gun was fitted, and the radio assembled in a box. The suspension was replaced with a new model based on the Churchill heavy tank. South Africa, was ready for war.

ImageThink about this turret, but much more rounded and having a radio box the back.

ImageImagine this, but with an arrow shaped hull, and Churchill suspension.

The new tank was big by nearly all metrics, being 6.75 m X 3.90 m X 3.60 m. However, this new size was well used, with increased armour, armament, and the new engine.

Stats:
Size; 6.75 m X 3.90 m X 3.60 m
Engine; Rolls Royce Meteor Mk.III V12 Petrol/gasoline engine, 600 hp
Suspension: 10 vertical coil spring bogies
Crew; 4
Armament; Ordnance Quick-Firing 17-pounder

Athens, King George Hotel
HQ, Commonwealth Forces in Greece

Lieutenant General Frederick 'Boy' Browning liked his new headquarters and his new commission, he was gazetted to command all Commonwealth units within Greece a week prior and was now setting to work with organising his rag-tag force of local Greek units, British Airborne and reserve British Infantry. The force had been deployed to Greece a month beforehand in response to the increasing Communist threat in the region, the 52nd Lowland Division and the 1st Airborne Division made up the bulk of the CFG. Strengthening the mainly British CFG was around four thousand local Greek volunteers and seven-hundred soldiers from other Commonwealth states, namely New Zealand and Canada along with two-hundred and fifty rearmed German and Italian former prisoners of war.

This force, with a total strength of around 31,000 men, was based mainly around Athens but also in Thessalia and Crete. 100 17pdr Anti-Tank guns, 72 25pdr Howitzers along with hundreds of machine guns, rifles, tracked carriers and armoured cars made up the ramshackle force which, despite its low strength, was well experienced and dedicated with seasoned commanders and expert knowledge of the difficult Greek terrain. These men were determined to stop the threat of Communism in its tracks.

Nuclear Test Near Manchuria

Lavrentiy Beria, the Director of the Soviet Atomic bomb project, has announced in a conference with Joseph Stalin that the USSR shall test an Atomic bomb at approximately 12:00 local time near Manchuria tomorrow, and that the USSR is officially a Nuclear State. The Atomic Bomb's design is classified, and no photographs have been released of it. The only photo released was of the test platform viewed from an observation bunker, the mountains of Manchuria behind it. Comrade Stalin has declared that Nuclear Technology can and will be given upon request to any ally of the Soviet Union that requests it, and that "The revolution must be defended with Nuclear Solidarity". In the same conference, The test of the Z-4 Cruising Rocket was announced, which is designed for military use, and is currently the longest ranged rocket-jet hybrid in existence. The exact site of the Nuclear test remains secret, but analysis of the photo released by the Government indicates that the test site is somewhere within ten miles of the Soviet-Chinese border.

Intervention in Greece

The Soviet Black Sea and Mediterranean Fleet has left harbor headed to Greece, to blockade the nation and prevent Capitalist supplies from reaching the country. Air Force Intervention has also been reported, with MiG's flying over parts of Greece in support of Socialist troops. The Red Army has also been observed preparing troops for something, however no official statements have been released other than one by Premier Stain, which notably states that "The Revolution must be brought across the world, and the red banner of the worker planted firmly in every nation." An anonymous Political Scientist at Moscow University has stated that "Stalin is being pressured by Internationalist elements within the Central Committee to bring Socialism to the majority of the Balkans - the loss of Yugoslavia has not been received well."

To, Árpád Szakasits, People's Federal Republic of Hungary and Maurice Thorez, Government of France

From the office of Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union, Vyacheslav Molotov

Hello esteemed Comrades, I write to you regarding events in Greece you are no doubt familiar with. Comrade Stalin has ordered my country to begin supporting the Worker's Revolution in Greece. We are aware that all our countries are prepared to intervene in the Greek situation, and my government suggests we form a joint command to assist the Greek Rebels. The Soviet Union intends to blockade Greece from support to other factions not affiliated with the Socialist Movement. The situation in Yugoslavia is of great concern in the USSR, and we believe it is imperative we end the civil war in Greece as quickly as possible to prevent possible British and Yugoslav interference. I propose our nation's military leaders meet to discuss this matter more in depth as soon as possible.

Frederick Browning was shocked, mere days after he accepted his new commission Greece was under threat. Luckily the Hungarian bombings had hit an airbase used by the local Greek forces and thus no major assets had been lost, nonetheless, he contacted the closest airbase and ordered fighters dispatched to try and chase down the Hungarian planes, meanwhile, Typhoons were launched to bomb the forces that had landed. The key was to keep the Hungarian paratroopers disorganised and cut off so as to defeat them as easily as possible. The local Greek forces defending the airbase were contacted by radio from CFG HQ and they reported that they were barricaded in the various buildings surrounding the runways and fighting to the last man, a choice of words that was courageous yet disheartening to the officers in the King George Hotel. Browning and his fellow staff officers ordered the 52nd Lowland Division to move quickly to oppose the landings. Runners took messages to the Greek government and Army High Command, ordering them to mobilise all forces, all reserves and any militia, volunteers or paramilitaries in expectancy of further landings or ground attacks.

From, Ernest Bevin, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs

The current events in Greece are completely unacceptable, if peace is to remain between the USSR and the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth then the following terms must be adhered to.

1. The Soviet Navy is to halt all operations that disrupt legitimate merchant shipping.
2. The Soviet Air Force will cease violations of Greek airspace.
3. The USSR will condemn the actions of its ally, Hungary, and do all in its power to remove Hungarian troops and aircraft from Greece.

These demands must be met within two days or the all clear will be given for SDO forces to engage assets of the Soviet Military.

Near Fort Jiaren

Fortifications Crisscrossed the border, machine guns, mortars, artillery, cement supported, well-built trenches. The Chinese banner proudly flying on each one. With news of the imminent Soviet Nucleat test reverberating worldwide, two Divisions of 25,000 veteran troops of the War of Japanese Aggression now approached these fortifications in trucks, on foot, and on horses. Their trucks driving over the melting frost of Manchurians long winter approaching Summer. Fort Jiaren's mighty guns waiting to remerge, ready to terrorize the Soviet provocateurs at a moment's notice. Dozens of P-40 Warhawks were waiting to fly into the sky, along with numerous more advanced American aircraft. Thousands of soldiers, across the entire border with the Soviets, from Manchuria to the outer reaches of Xinjiang, waited for the Soviets to strike, if they ever did. And when the Soviets tested their bomb, the Chinese would respond with a similar show of force.

To: Árpád Szakasits President of Peoples Federal Republic of Hungary, Vyacheslav Molotov Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union

We are familiar with events in Greece and our troops stationed in North Africa sre currently being boarded on ships and aircraft carriers. We won't let imperialists make slaves of Greek workers. 25th Airborne division, 6th Marine regiment, 5th North African infantry division, 9th light armoured Marine Brigate,11th and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Marine infantry regiment are to be deployed to the town of Patras too cut off Corinth from the rest of Greece, and specifically from Yugoslav borders. I agree to the formation of joint command and I'm going to send General de Lattre de Tassigny to join your esteemed military representatives in Budapest to arrange common operations of the Comintern troops.Thorez

Patras, Greece

Eight Dewoitine D.338 airplanes, each carrying 25 paratroopers flew above Patras . Paratroopers dropped in the pine forest about two miles from local airfield. Those were the men of 25th Airborne. They regrouped and snuck through the woods. They were armed with light submachine rifles and they moved safely and swiftly through the night. The group of Greek royalists that guarded the airfield, wasn't caught completely by surprise - they knew they could expect foreign paratroopers that are bound to help Greek communist rebels. However, French coordinated their attack well- several strong volleys of fire were directed towards the Greek buildings forcing them into retreat. Small group risked several casualties as they charged the machine-gun positions and took them out with grenades. Before dawn came the airfield was under French control. And more divisions were to be sent tommorow.

Whie most of 25th barricading itself in the airport building, two fireteams went to scout the locations of artillery batteries around Patras. There were four on the west side of the city. Their location will be radioed to the aircraft carrier "Bearn that was located in the waters of Ionain sea.

Somewhere near Deir el Zor, Syria

A group of men, dressed in uniforms of Syrian army walked through the desert. They had been walking for a long time- although not all the way from the border. They were transported thirty miles outside the city that was under control of Syrian rebels by a truck from French embassy in Iraq. They were all Syrian, but were also on the French payroll- some were spies send to spy on Al Khoury's government, some were Foreign Legion mercenaries. The man leading them was the man we had chance to spot in the SDECE Headquarters just two weeks ago- Fahrad, charming Damascus smuggler and spy who started working , first for French resistance, because Vichy officials were interfering with his parfume and Turkish rugs business and afterwards for French secret service. Unlike many informers Fahrad wasn't forced to work for secret service - he liked the job that was full of luxury and excitemend. Now his face was wrapped in long scarf, and he was dressed in a broad gray robe, slinging a Mas-38 around his neck. He stopped as he spotted a sentry. He came towards them brandishing his gun, but he lowered them when he saw no one of the newcomers is raising their weapons.

"Selam, brave warrior." Fahrid greeted the man in the language of the prophet. "We heard of your struggle against imperialist Al Khoury and his infidel allies. We were soldiers in Al Khoury army, drafted by his dogs from our families and forced to fight for him, but we rebelled and 15 of us came here to fight the sacred war."

Mushroom Cloud Near China

Today at 12:00 local time, a huge explosion was reported 16 kilometers from the Chinese Border in the far East of the USSR. The Soviet Nuclear Program has announced that the explosion was created by an atomic bomb 15 Kilotons of TNT in yield. The bomb has been tested close to the Chinese border as a warning sign to KMT government in China, which is known to be extremely anti-communist to the point of suppressing certain labor unions. The explosion was caught on several different camera and photograph systems, and after the initial fire ball a mushroom cloud rose over the test ground, much like what happened during the American Atomic bombings of Japan. The bomb was the same yield as the American bomb dropped on Hiroshima. The test platform that the bomb was tested on has been completely destroyed, and the area near it changed beyond recognition. Whatever is to come of these weapons, we surely hope that they will not be used in large numbers.

British Bases in Greece Bombed after British Empire Threatens USSR

The United Kingdom's foreign affairs secretary sent a now public letter to Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union, Vyacheslav Moltov. The letter demanded the Soviet Union and her allies withdraw from Greece completely as well as condemn the nation of Hungary for (rightly) assisting the Greek Socialists. The letter stated that should the USSR not comply with British demands, British forces in Greece should open hostilities with Soviet forces. These demands were considered unreasonable by Joseph Stalin and the Central Committee. While Stalin's reply letter to the British has not been made public, we have no doubt of its contents. Joseph Stalin has personally ordered bombing raids, escorted by MiG fighter aircraft, on British bases. Tupelov-4 aircraft modified for paratroopers escorted by Soviet fighter aircraft have been seen dropping paratroopers to assist Hungarian and Greek Socialist forces. The Soviet Navy has moved to blockade Crete from any support to the Greek Capitalists as well as the Greek mainland. Soviet ground attack aircraft have also been sighted in Greece, some bearing Greek Socialist markings after being given to the Greek Socialists. The Soviet Military has declared that any British interference based off of Malta shall be met with an "appropriate response directed at the Island of Malta".

To Ernest Bevin, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, British Empire

I will skip the usual formalities, as you and your government does not seem to deem them important. The Soviet Union shall not be ordered to withdraw from anywhere at anytime by any foreign power as long as I am in charge. Your demands are a thinly veiled insult at my country. The USSR shall not ever condemn an ally for the action of bringing the Red Flag abroad, and to demand we do so is ridiculous. The Soviet Union shall not comply with any of your demands unless you approach the negotiating table with my country and her allies as equals. The power of the old Imperial powers of Europe is no more Mr. Bevin. It is time you and your country acknowledge this.

Beijing

Chiang Kai Shek saluted the freshly trained Beijing Republican Guard, elite and deadly. Marching with US helmets and fresh uniforms with M1 Garand rifles. Chiang left the rostrum, entering a room where He Yingqin, Li Zongren, and Chiang Jie-Min, Director of the NSB. He gave Chiang three photos of the magnificent blasts of the Atomic Bomb. The Soviets were armed with the "Hiroshima-Destroyer" as Chiang called it. He nodded somberly. "They best we can do is respond with a show of force." replied Chiang.
"Everything has been timed perfectly." replied Jie-Min.

Near Hailar

Near the city of Hailar, in Manchuria and quite close to the Soviet border. Several soldiers and men in lab coats hopped into trucks and drove away from a pointed object under a tarp. With American help, and with their own expertise, the weapon had been perfected and ready to be tested. One soldier pulled down the tarp. A rocket, quite similar to the V-2 was ready. When the soldiers and scientists were far away, the countdown began.
三,
二,

The rocket rushed into the air towards Soviet territory. Screaming into the air, deviating from trajectory several times, but staying within the general area. The scientists cut the engine as it reached a certain altitude. It crashed only a few kilometers from the Soviet border in an open field. It had no warhead, and only crashed into the field with a thud, opening up a whole and allowing the scientists to continue to study the technology and tweak it to make it more perfect. Chiang would soon receive the photos of the rocket raking the sky.

Nanjing

Hong Xi Len was carried out of the courthouse by soldiers, head hung in shame. Locals crowded around shouting insults at the greedy man. Press took numerous photos and shouted questions. The Judge had sentenced Mr. Len to 30 Years in Jail, and for all bribes to be repaid immediately. Another victory against corruption, and against greed.

Kommisar Lothar Bolz waited in front of the luxury vehicle on the tarmac, as the plane was about to land he dictated the few messages that his office said that he had received in his absence, his view intently upon the Volksarmee band, preparing to play 'The Internationale' to welcome the French leader to East Berlin, a city damaged, divided by capitalism and socialism, the Kommisar thought to himself how the meeting would be a fine break from the stress of the job, but it wouldn't be all leisure, as the workers at the Neue Wache building, that once held Wehrmacht celebrations, had been turned into a memorial, 'to the victims of fascism and militarism' the opening ceremony would be attended by all major socialist party heads, after wards it would be accompanied by a military parade.

Hello, I absolutely agree that the Red Orchestra be formed of the most capable spies, the Stasi has had extensive interviews and background checks by our East German initiates. I would be interested in expanding the recruiting pool to all Warsaw Pact countries, to allow for the best spies to be able to be chosen for the Red Orchestra, this would also have the added benefit of having more funding and more territory for training. We must target the KMT, we should seek to recruit new units as soon as possible to go after the Chinese government for their aggression. I thank you for your interest, and hope we can work together to expand socialism to liberate the world.

I look forward to your response.

To: Comrade Árpád Szakasits President of Peoples Federal Republic of Hungary
From: Komissar Lothar Bolz, Foreign Minister of the German Democratic Republic
Subject: Closer Bonds

We are ecstatic that your government seeks to form a stronger bond with us. The factories of Germany can provide you with the equipment that you'd like. We'll as well work to utilise the uranium, while at the moment our scientists are currently being held by the Soviets, so it would probably be most economic to send the uranium to the Soviet Union, but we will more than happily take the oil. As well, the Volksarmee has informed me to ask you if you would require assistance in liberating Greece.

I look forward to your response.

STASI Field Operative Markus Wolf, Red Orchestra, East Austria District

The air was heavy with tobacco smoke and the laughter from the two other operatives, as Markus Wolf gazed out the window, to be fair it wasn't the worst neighbourhood in Vienna, but it could be better, as the Volkspolizei patrolled the streets and loudspeakers boomed inspirational propaganda, such as how the potato crop production has exceeded expectations, or how a near-by commune's warehouse was bursting with food, and the expected message ordering citizens to report anti-socialists behaviour to their local STASI. Their mission there was simple enough. To locate and eliminate Wilhelm Zaisser, who had been seen in the area.

OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT CORRESPONDENCE - UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLICS

To Komissar Erich Mielke, Minister of State Security of the German Democratic Republic
From the office of Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union, Vyacheslav Molotov

Hello, Komissar. I agree with your suggestion to expand the Red Orchestra recruitment pool to the Warsaw Pact. I have dispatched, with Comrade Stalin's approval, several MGB agents which may be of great use to the first stages of this operation, against the Chinese Government. I suggest we headquarter this effort against the Chinese in Vladivostok, or near Manchuria. There is a fortress that has been a central point for the Chinese government in their actions against the Soviet Union, and I suggest we target that facility first as a test of Red Orchestra. It has been a rather pivotal point in our relations with China. I wish you and your government luck with your rebuilding of Germany, and your plans for the future. I believe that the future is red, should the current track of events continue.

Best Regards, Vyacheslav Molotov, Foreign Minister, USSR
“It is difficult for me to imagine what “personal liberty” is enjoyed by an unemployed hungry person. True freedom can only be where there is no exploitation and oppression of one person by another; where there is not unemployment, and where a person is not living in fear of losing his job, his home and his bread. Only in such a society personal and any other freedom can exist for real and not on paper.” -J. V. STALIN

The end of the institutional pantomime

The republican government in the exile continues its failed search of support from the Allies, the CNT Interior will continue the fight in the streets.

As years pass and after the failure of the Aran valley invasion, the Allies have shown their indifference towards iberian fascism. The republican government in exile keeps trying to find support while some of our comrades still think that "winning the war is the main aim" and join the government like they did in 1937. But we must say to them that the war has ended, and we have lost it. However, we think that not everything has been lost and that the revolution that began in 1936 has never ended. The July 18th of 1936 was the beginning the end of the spanish capitalist and reactionary classes, and our duty is to not surrender, our duty is to do the social revolution and abolish the State, not only as members of the spanish people, but the humanity.
The National Committee of the Interior has decided to leave the path of the republican institutions in exile and take the path of the insurrection. Its first step has been contacting the Committee of the Intercontinental Secretariat of CNT-FAI-JJLL in Toulouse in order to receive economic and military support for the local committees.
Future actions will be told in your local committees.
Comrades, agitate the streets, the factories and the prisons!
