Co-Op: The Armed Republic of Dutch Coolness

It's been 435 years since the end of the Oblivion crisis as 233 years since the end of the Civil War in Skyrim. While the Jarl of Winterhold ousted the imperial legion from the province not a year later did the new Emperor of Tamriel Vipsanius, looking to solidify his control of the throne after his assertion to power after the death of Mede II sent in an army to pacify the rebellious province. The Legionaries crushed the war weary Stormcloak army before it even had a chance to fully reorganize itself at the Battle of Lake Ilinalta. Soon after Emperor Vipsanius’s forces marched into Winterhold as sympathizers in Solitude took back the city. Whiterun besieged and Markarth surrendered before the city could be razed by the marching Legionaries.

Once Vipsanius stood atop the throne of Skyrim once more he began his reconstruction of the empire. It was this process of destruction and reconstructionslism of the empire that forged this time in history. As the Bretons remained scarcely loyal to the new emperor the Orcs reconstituted Orsinium and have held out further imperial advances. Skyrim while pacified was not under full imperial control. Morrowind and the Armies of Argonia held out in the east. The southern provinces of Valenwood and Elswyr remained in Dominion hands and Hammerfell solidified its continued independence from the Empire after Redguard warrior trounced an imperial detachment set in to take Rahad as a foothold for further campaigning.

It wasn't until the reign of Gius II when the empire started to reclaim it former glory. Imperial armies marched into Daggerfall, starting the Daggerfall indirection a series of conflicts between the several royal holdings of Highrock. Eventually the imperial legion and allied forces crushed the rebellious houses and instituted a centralized government based in Daggerfall which promptly gave highrock in possession to the empire. Breton and Imperial forces then besieged Orsinium for 3 years. Known as the great famine by some imperial forces starved out and destroyed the farmland of the Orcs before descending upon their cities just as they had done nearly 200 years prior.

Once the wars in Highrock were finished the armies marched east to combat the Argonians who for the last two hundred years had been engrossed in an occupation of southern Morrowind with an insurgency led by the Ashlanders. The imperial forces took swift action and cut a major section of the argonian army off in the south and with the help of the Dunmer crushed the largest section of the Argonian army in Morrowind. With the Dunmer pledging their territories to the empire for autonomy under their rule the argonians we beat back into Argonia.

However after his 33 years of leadership ended Gius II died and his adopted son, a Nord he named Nerous accented to the Imperial throne. He took the name of Vipsanius II and has begun to plan to finish what his ancestors have been working towards since they took the throne 232 years ago. However the young emperor's new reign would be marked by the single greatest shift in the history of Nirn. On a bright day, as the empire bustled with activity some astonishing happened. The Dwemer returned.

They had come back, reappearing in the very same spots they vanished in all those millennia ago. Most returned back to the underground cities they had lived in, coming under attack by raiders and bandits who occupied many of the ruins. Some however met less desirable fates. Some were brought back into the word trapped into homes and structures that had been built utop where they once stood, stories circulated of a road where the Dwemer returned only to be chest high in stone where the road was raised. Of those who returned to the surface unharmed they were swiftly assaulted by fearful residents and security forces, of those who didn't die they made their way back to the safety of the ruins which were quickly remilitarized and swept of any threats. A six month long war with the Falmer ensued as the Dwemer tried to secure their old homes, ultimately resulting in mass genocide.

It's been a year since the Dwemer returned and their presence is still rippling through the social fabric of Tamriel. This new Elven race has emboldened the Aldmeri Dominion, they are starting to amass their armies in Valenwood in an attempt to take back Hammerfell, a province which bested them nearly 250 years earlier. At the same time the empire still looks to reunite all its former territory, Hammerfell is a key to this reunification campaign and is thus square in the sights of the Imperial Legion. All the while Hammerfell and Volenfell the only Dwemer stronghold in the region have been in a state of uneasy neutrality. The Dwarves and the Redguards forming a truce almost right after the returning allowing the Dwemer safe passage back to Volenfell. However with Dominion envoys attempting to coheres the Dwemer to the side of the Dominion this peace is at risk of falling apart.

You however are in a much different situation. You stand in your prison cell surrounded by other criminals. Your crimes do not matter, all that exists now is the threat of execution by any means to guards of Rihad wish. However unknown to the leadership of the city unmarked vessels approach the city, their intent malicious and their goal conquest. The Raid of Rihad is to begin and your only hint to this is the sight of sails coming into view over the vast ocean, seen from the small barred window that you and your cellmates share.

Rules & Expectations

•As usually my word as OP is final and I reserve the right to deny applicants at my discretion.

•Co-Op will retain much of the authority I do, if you have an issue with a Co-Ops ruling then message me and I'll figure something out.

•Keep fighting and arguments out of the OOC. If it's going to be an issue I'll kick both parties from the RP I feel the issue warrants it.

•The above does not apply to Co-Ops if they argument revolves around the doing their job.

•No Godmodding or Metagaming.

•No characters should be canon, only distant relatives at most.

•No dragonborns or similar characters, characters with abilities like the shout will but given extra scrutiny given their ability. Also no leaders of Companions/Fighters Guild/College of Winterhold/etc

•Keep your characters race set to the playable ones plus you are allowed to play Dwemer. That said I'm limiting the number of Dwemer characters allowed so we can keep the RP from become a massive circle jerk of Dwarves.

•Don't pull any fast ones, using Console Commands, your character can not achieve CHIM, nor can they access the Creation Kit. Any attempt at using these will get you kicked*
*I might make an acception for CHIM late in the story but it must be approved by me.

•Try your best to post a minimum of a single paragraph.

•Finally, have fun. It's why we're here after all.

Name: Raynila Selehas
Age: 63
Place of Birth: Anvil, Cyrodiil
Race: Dunmer
Equipment: Steel sword and dagger, leather armor, a few potions of healing, magicka, and a potion of cure disease. A few leather pouches hanging from a belt, including an assortment of miscellaneous items such as lockpicks, the keys to her home, and a few herbs for medicinal use when out of potions.
Skills:
• Blade
• Destruction
• Light Armor
• Speechcraft
• Acrobatics
• Stealth
• Security
Strengths: Keen of mind and a rapid thinker, fast, skilled with a blade, and decently good at hiding herself, as well as picking locks. Decent at casting spells from the magic school of Destruction, too, due to her natural affinity with such magics, particularly flame-based ones, as a Dunmer. All in all, she has many of the qualities one might expect from one in service to the Penitus Oculatus.
Weaknesses: Raynila is definitely not a soldier or even much of a fighter by nature, all of her skill in such things merely the result of prolonged training. Even then, she’s hardly a match for a proper, skilled warrior and will often simply try and get away from danger as fast as possible. Quick to overanalyze things and prone to see see things in words that really aren’t there. She regularly consumes various illicit substances, which have most definitely caused some lasting impact on her mind.
Biography: When Red Mountain erupted and Baar Dau crashed into the city of Vivec, following the disappearance of the Saint the city was named after, Aretros Selehas, one of the Warrior-Poet’s Buoyant Armigers, escaped the destruction that rained down on his homeland and fled for Cyrodiil, the heartland of the Empire, still left in tatters following the Oblivion Crisis that had only just passed. Originally intent on continuing his adventures as a Knight-Errant, adventurer, and poet, things would go rather differently after he met one Sevandile Nitvayne, a fellow Dunmer that had resided in the Imperial City for several years now, a merchant by trade. Continuing his ways for a while, he found himself returning to her again and again, the two falling in love. Eventually settling down together and marrying, the two happily lived together for years, safe from the horrors that had befallen their homeland. Following the horrors of the Great War and the sacking of the Imperial City, the two moved for the city of Anvil instead. Like the Imperial City, it had suffered greatly from the Aldmeri invasion, but the two managed to settle down and rebuild their lives. Although the two were getting older, Sevandile found herself with child and gave birth to a daughter, naming her Raynila.

Growing up in the harbor city of Anvil, Raynila met all kinds of people out on the streets. Her father having earned the odd coin while he was still a Buoyant Armiger and later as a Mage of the local department of the Synod, with her mother a trader of the formerly Great House Hlaalu, she didn’t find herself lacking much, although obviously not of the richest sort, either. Spending a lot of her time out on the streets, she became at least moderately ‘streetwise’. As she got older, Raynila started helping her mother out in her humble general goods store. Life was fairly uneventful the following years, until eventually her father passed away. Aiming to return his ashes to his ancient, familial tomb back in Morrowind, Raynila and her mother set to journey back to their people’s homeland, trekking across Cyrodiil with Aretros’ ashes. After spending close to a year on the road, her aging mother being far from her youthful self anymore, especially on a long and dangerous journey such as this, the two made it to their destination, setting the Dunmer’s urn with ashes among those of his family. The two rested for a week in a tavern close by, before hitting the road again. Unfortunately, Sevandile’s body couldn’t handle it for much longer, and the old woman collapsed - she, too, passing away. With the help of some of the locals, Raynila took care of the appropriate funerary rites, before heading to return home.

Well over a year after originally setting out, Raynila returned to Anvil, now without both of her parents. Deciding that the shop owner's life really wasn’t for her, she tried to enlist for the Legion, but was found somewhat wanting during training and eventually discharged. Without many different options, she continued doing her mother’s work for a while. When word of a serial killer on the loose in Anvil, the Dunmer’s curiosity was piqued and with a mind for adventure, she could not help but try and dig right into the mystery, much to the woes of the local guards. Eventually, however, she began to recognize and point out patterns she had noticed, be it through things she had seen herself, reporting on the murders, or rumours - information that was eventually picked up on, leading to the apprehension and timely execution of the killer.

This apparently caught the ears of certain individuals, and before she knew it, Raynila found herself knocked out, blindfolded, and taken to some undisclosed location by spectres, the Emperor’s Penitus Oculatus, although such information was not disclosed to her at the time. Refusing to answer any of her captors’ questions and altogether protesting rather vocally against her presumed kidnapping, she passed this part just right, and was taken to the Imperial City from where she would be offered to receive proper training, before being initiated into the ranks of the Emperor’s spies, guards, and assassins. Over the following years, she was trained in body and mind to become a part of the secretive Oculatus, until she was eventually made it through the grueling training regime and became a full member of the organisation.

Not long after, she was sent to the city of Sentinel, on Hammerfell’s western coast to gather information and send it back to the Imperial City. Given a few contacts in the area and a tattoo on her rear marking her as one of the Oculatus to those in the know, she was essentially left out there on her own, operating independently to try and intercept Dominion communications and if necessary take any potentially valuable targets out, sending information back to the Penitus Oculatus’ headquarters in the Imperial City, as well as receiving the occasional instructions calling for the destruction of certain items and the death of specific individuals.

Raynila has since then spent most of her time in Hammerfell, only on a few occasions returning to Cyrodiil and, albeit temporarily, home, in Anvil. She’s killed countless of people without remorse, and has intercepted, deciphered, translated and recovered a great number of the Dominion’s internal communications within the province, albeit nothing but the tip of the iceberg. She’s made attempts at mapping the Thalmor’s intelligence network in the area, although has failed to do so, the Dominion’s own intelligence gathering operations more than able to match that of the Oculatus in the area. During her time, Raynila’s taken a liking for various illicit substances such as moon sugar, finding herself unable to take her mind off of things without indulging in at least some hedonistic desires.

Unfortunately, she’s recently found herself in a bit of a pickle. Having received orders straight from the Imperial City, Raynila was ordered to find and eliminate a Redguard man that, for a royal fee, gathered information on the city of Rihad’s defences. The man, an already rather wealthy merchant was, unfortunately, a somewhat famous and well-liked person, regularly hosting parties for his fellow merchants. Managing to get herself an invitation to one of these parties, the Dunmer was all set to assassinate the Dominion spy. As the night came to an ending, she followed the man towards his quarters, and cut the man’s throat. Unfortunately, she realised a little too late that the merchant had not been alone and that, to make things even worse, his lover for the night was exceptionally good at screaming. Within but a few moments, Raynila found herself surrounded by quite the number of armed guards and forced to surrender.

Luckily enough, the Dunmer was taken to prison rather than executed on the spot, which is where she now resides, waiting for whatever fate has in store for her, spending her time thinking on overly complicated conspiracy theories.

WIP, THE AUSTRALIANS ARE COMING! THE AUSTRALIANS ARE COMING!

Postby Parcia » Tue Jul 11, 2017 10:15 am

Name: Lucian Valera
Age: 32
Place of Birth: Imperial Capital
Race: Imperial
Equipment: Legionary armor (Circa the Septim Era, so Skyrim) with Closed Legionary helmet | Imperial sword/shield | 34 pieces of Gold | Amulet of Talos | a pair of healing and a single mana potion|
Skills:
• Blade - One handed
• Blocking
• Unarmed
• Destruction
• Heavy Armor
• Cooking
• Speech craft
Strengths: Being a Centurion (just under a legate, if memory serves) he is skilled in small unit tactics and tactical thinking. His training and years of experience have made him an excellent swordsmen as well as an unarmed fighter. Years of competently leading his men, and inspiring them, he has become quiet articulate and elegant in his speech when he needs to be, leading to a high skill in such fields. His knowledge of destruction magic is limited, but is specialized in pyromancy preferring to throw fireballs when needed.
Weaknesses: While being en excellent soldier and leader on the battlefield, he is withdrawn and distant when off the field, often affecting his men adversely. While an excellent soldier, he knows little of over all politics, finding it boring and almost pointless to invest in to. He is not stealthy nor very fast in his pace.
Biography:
Born roughly 3 decades ago in the imperial capital, Lucian was born poor and desperate. Growing up on the streets he was orphaned at a young age. Learning to survive on his own, he made a living by working for various street gangs, first as a simple informant, then as a pure thug. He picked up much of his hand to hand skills on the streets of the capital.

Living off the scraps of others was not something he favored, and soon looked for legitimate work. Finding a steady job working for a small time mage who operated a small book shop.

As a quick note, Parcia, the capital of the Empire is the Imperial City, and Skyrim has the Medes as Emperors (whom came after the Septim dynasty) ;)

The Dark Brotherhood was wiped out in Hammerfell during the Great War, but with a new Listener in its ranks during the events of Skyrim I don't see why they wouldn't have started to rebuild and tried to gain a foothold in Hammerfell again, so I'd say it's fair to say it's still a thing.

I don't know what they are, myself, but judging from The Raid of Rihad is to begin and Hammerfell's history, I'd assume it's either pirates, or the Dominion (or maybe the Empire? :O )

So if my char was to lack the archery skill, for example, does that mean they can't even shoot a bow or does it just mean they can't be sniping out guys from across the battlefield? As in having a skill makes them an expert while trying something that isn't listed makes them either average at it or a complete disaster.

To be finished later. The idea behind her is that she's a Daedra worshipper who looks all the world like she'd be the TES equivalent of an edgelord but, apart from the way she dresses, fights, and her worshipping devils, she's pretty normal. Oh, and the hist sap.

Name: State your name for the record. "Sonya Blood-spear."
Age: Age? "26."
Place of Birth: You were born in... Falkreath, correct? "That's correct."
Race: Convict is a Nord female of average height, platinum blonde hair and yellow eyes.
Equipment: Convict incarcerated with the following: Steel armor (painted black), orcish sword, orcish dagger, steel shield (black with a white spear piercing a red heart painted on it), lockpick set, house keys, some leather pouches hanging from a belt, leather knapsack, a few potions for health, stamina, and one for magica. Two bottles of Hist sap and one bottle of rum. One ring with the symbol of Malacath on a reversible panel, the opposite side merely has a black square of anthracite. Armor apparently had to be custom made as even for a Nord, Sonya is toweringly tall at fifty pertans. (OOC: 225 cm, about 7'4")
Skills:
• Blade - one-handed
• Heavy Armor
• Alchemy
• Smithing
• Blocking
• Unarmed
• Cooking
Strengths: Convict was incarcerated in the middle of a brawl after having taken out one of the barmaids, the bard, three aldmeri, and two guards before being subdued. Convict is clearly skilled in combat both under and out of the influence of alcohol and the hist sap found on her person - she was lucid enough to identify 'hostile' from 'non-hostile'. Convict is also skilled in the arts of potion-making and cooking - the potions on her personage were of her own creation, and the brawl had allegedly started after someone had insulted the convict's cooking skills which had progressed from words, to fisticuffs, to eventually a brawl once a Redguard patron - also arrested in brawl - threw a chair at convict, bouncing off of their head.
Weaknesses: Convict, mercifully, shows the typical Nord warrior's lack of knowledge of magic besides enchantment - at first glance. Convict is aware of the existence of magic, and many of its uses but, in her own words, is 'completely inept at putting it into practice.' And as for enchantment, she finds herself 'too impatient' to make any progress besides the absolute basics, and the cost of materials compared to the output is not enough for her to justify it.
Biography: "I imagine Falkreath would be an odd place for a worshipper of the Orsimer's god to be born, you would think, no? My parents ran an inn that was more than welcoming to folks from all races, yes, even the stuck-up High Elves, though they rarely visited. It was right next to a small blacksmithy run by an Orsimer by the name of Gurkh Golbog. Not the nicest fellow, but many Orsimer are a tad sour around humans they don't know. But he and I? We got along swimmingly. He even taught me about Malacath, and I was, for lack of a better word, enraptured. He took me under his wing, training me in smithing, combat, and the Code under the guise of simple apprenticeship."

"My parents, may they find peace in Sovngarde, never found out. Our inn was on the outskirts of Falkreath, and a bandit chief laid siege on town a few moons after my fifteenth birthday. The town escaped with little damage, but the inn burned down with my parents within after an explosive rune burst the wall of Gurkh's forge. I was formally taken under his wing from that moment on, but we had to leave - The damage to the forge was too great to repair, and he was never much liked in Falkreath anyway."

I'd say it a skill that if you have to use it you can but you're not proficient with and will lack the ability to be good consistently. I mean the pick 7 system here is plucked from TES IV Oblivion. If you ever played it do you remember using the bow and arrow while not having it as a major skill? It kinda sucked and was only useful in very niche situations were you'd avoid using it if you could. That's essentially how it work here.
