This is because the Axis vs. Allies line up is noticeably unbalanced, so we fear that another nation joining the Allies would worsen this disparity.

Canada could change direction politically when King Edward VIII abdicates in favor of his brother. Perhaps Eastminster had Axis sympathies the whole time, but George V didn't really care. Edward VIII was fairly pro-German himself, which wouldn't change the political situation until his abdication.

Restrepo, the Colombian Republic's inauguration of President José Vicente
Concha Ferreira saw a brutal civil war that lasted from 1915 to 1918, stemming from a string of minor protests calling for the overthrow of the regime in February of 1913. Marches supporting the regime, as well as mass protests, began to spread throughout the nation in late February and early March.

After the first military shut-downs of otherwise peaceful protests in April, 1914, small skirmishes between Colombian Military Personnel and armed citizens in many small cities in eastern Colombia. On the fourth of June, President Ferreira ordered thousands of soldiers to be sent into "rebellious sectors" of the Colombian Republic, resulting in more clashes between the army and small militias.

On the 29th of July, 1914, a group of defected Colombian Officers announced the formation of the Colombian Liberation Army (Esercito di Liberazione Colombiano/Ejército de Liberación de Colombia), led by Spanish-Italian Immigrant and Catholic Zealot, Emiliano Carelli-Vicente, to protect protesters.

On the 23rd of November, 1914, and later on the 6th of January, 1915, explosions occurred in the city of Havana, targeting President Ferreira. The president later appeared in numerous speeches, warning that the state would take draconian measures if the populous continues to promote such attacks.

The 22nd of June, 1915, saw numerous raids of stores and factories, as well as civilian homesteads, by the state's military and police forces. Immediately after these raids begin, the CLA and Colombian Military-Police engage in open firefights, and result in many cities being controlled by the Colombian Liberation Army, which had began to grow in popularity among the citizenry, particularly in the rural areas of the country.

A two month ceasefire, which saw the CLA establishing a pseudo-state in the east of Colombia, named the Theocratic Confederation of Colombia, later changed to the Latin Empire, came to an end with the death of Emiliano Vicente during a confrontation with Colombian Army personnel. The former leader's son, Juno Vicente, aged 25, took control of the CLA's militias following a speech given by him on the 29th of August, 1915, declaring the Colombian Liberation Army's official establishment of a Theocracy, claiming the whole of Colombia. This declaration was answered with a speech by Colombian President Ferreira, issuing a declaration of war on the rebels.

The Republic entered into an alliance with neighbouring Panama on the 19th of September, announcing the formation of a united front against the zealots who "threatened the stability of the region".

The following three years saw back and forth advances between the Central American Coalition and the CLA, with President Ferreira announcing the capitulation of the Colombian Republic on the 18th of April, 1917, following the rebel occupation of the city of Havana just two days earlier. A year later, after a much bloodier series of battles between rebel Colombian and Panamanian forces, Panama fell on the 11th of February, 1918.

The unification of the two nations in 1919 saw the establishment of the Theocratic Confederation of Latin America, led by Juno Vicente, with its capital in Santa Marta.

In late 1921, following the dissolution of the United States, the fledgling nation mobilised its armies in an effort to deter any threat from the rising states, but in early 1922, on the 24th of February, the monarchy was established and the state took on a more imperialistic policy, leading the the largely unsuccessful Latin Conquest of Florida, which saw the nation occupying southern Florida, though its forces were pushed back to the coast with the exception of a few rural towns that remained under Latin control.

These wars and conquests led to tense relationships with Britain and her colonies, as well as with surrounding Latin American Nations, and saw 149,516 Colombians killed in the conflicts.

I removed Colombia and adjusted the nation so that its numbers would still be historically accurate. And, as for Florida, it's only coastal cities and a few farms and small towns that are under occupation by Latin Forces, not the whole of the southern half of the state. The Empire couldn't sufficiently hold on to very much Floridian land.

With the government struggling to try stay afloat, other American powers eyed the fertile land of Cuba ripe for the taking. It was then a offer came, The Carolina Republic would offer Cuba Statehood and equal representation to Cuba if they agreed to join under their rule. Their seemed little choice for Cuba so the legislature voted to accept the offer presented by the Carolina Republic and the stability it offered. Surprisingly, once the first election for governor of the new state occurred, Baptista won the vote with over 70%. The Hero of the revolt was still popular with the people even after his surrender of the republic to Carolina.

In the years since their annexation, Cuba has prospered as funds from the Carolina Republic went to building up Cuba and her infrastructure. As roads were built and ports upgraded, more goods could be brought for sale from plantations and the Carolinas offered a safe port into the rest of the US. It now sits as a major agricultural area for the Republic and a important base for the Carolinian Navy to Patrol the Gulf of Mexico.
