Aubrey steepled her fingers and adjusted herself in the seat, putting aside, at least for the moment, the more relaxed, partially forced, form she had taken through the evening to a more professional one, thinking over what was said, reflecting on the information, but also on what she knew of Cal's takes on these sorts of things, what he might be thinking-and what might be best for him regardless of his opinion.
"Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm not sure where the offer is. You're asking us to go on the air with you when we go on the air, is that right?"
Kristina took a deep breath and spoke, hoping to come across as non-schemey as possible.
“Basically, we want with the Reeds what Fox had with the Shrubs. You can feel free to take interviews offered to you from anyone, but if you or Cal or anyone in the administration is actively seeking out press opportunities, you call us first. In return, we promise to provide purely fair coverage of you. No impeachment rumors, no gossip column BS, no speculation on his mental health, or your marriage, or the internal workings of the administration. We will still report fairly if anything substantive comes out, but even our evening hosts won’t feed rumors about the Reeds.”
