Buck chuckles. "Oh my poor poor old man. Did you think that I brought you out here without anyone to watch so I could TELL you something?"

He turns around still chuckling then jerks a thumb back towards Kramer gesturing at the Secret Sevice agent. "Make sure that the Senator is OK. Falling can hurt at his age."

He starts to walk away.

Rock Creek Park, Washington D.C.

"Mr Vice President is that the conversation concluded?" Kramer asks.

The agent checks Kramer for injuries as Buck responds.

"Oh Alois, it was already over. You have either been made to understand or you never will. A teacher can only give a lesson and it is the student who has to learn. But what is it that they say about old dogs learning?" He asks and then chuckles.

"Have a safe trip back Senator. Go ahead and tell anyone you want about what you learned or failed to learn today. Maybe then you'll begin to understand and learn what makes the scales bend."

The agent finishes checking over and giving the basic first aid if it is needed and Buck walks away saying something as he leaves. "As he was valiant I honor him..."

Rock Creek Park, Washington D.C

Senator Kramer after composing himself began to propel himself forwards on his crutches.

"It's cold out here. I need to get home." Kramer says to himself as he tries to follow the path.

After a few minutes of walking Kramer's vision begins to blur.

"Oh lord" Kramer thinks unknowingly going off the path before his crutches fall to the side as he faints and face plants the earth.

Jamie Johnson do the early morning jog on Friday while playing his Pokemon Go trying to find himself more Magikarp so he could finally get enough candy to evolve one into a Gyarados. His search led him to Rock Creek Park, and he ran down the road catching Magikarp to his heart's content. Jamie Johnson was so focused on catching Magikarp that he did not notice that he went off the path, and he also did not notice the crumpled form on the ground, and tripped over it.

"ELLEN WALTON MUST HAVE PLACED THIS HERE!" Jamie Johnson loudly declared, even though nobody was in the vicinity, he do the frown, and inspected what he tripped over.

After the agent clears things and Buck slips back in he whistles cheerily to himself once inside as he takes off the gloves hat coat and other clothing down to his underwear and piles it up.

"Have to burn that." He reminds himself what to do in the morning as he goes on upstairs.

He goes on into the bedroom where Saga is waiting up for him lying there in her nightgown.

"How'd it go?" She asks.

He smiles. "Exactly as planned. What about you?"

Now she smiles. "Exactly as planned."

He smiles even bigger back both of them with perfectly straight white teeth. "Now that's just what I like to hear!"

She looks him up and down in his underwear. "And that is just what I like to see."

He makes a devious grin. "So that's why you waited up you vixen! Come here!"

Buck jumps on the bed and Saga squeals as they celebrate success.

The Chase Report
With Special Guest First Lady Aubrey Reed

Image

Chase: "Welcome to the Chase Report, I'm Kristina Chase. Tonight, we are putting the headlines and commentary to the end of the show, because I'm just too excited to have our special guest, First Lady Aubrey Reed with us. Mrs. First Lady, how are you tonight?”

Reed: "I'm doing well, Mrs. Chase. I'm glad to be here."

Chase: "Mrs. Reed, first of all, I would like to hear your thoughts on the Dillon tragedy. I know the President's father was one of the victims. Is there anything you would like to say about what happened there?”

Reed: "I'm sorry if I'm being too blunt right now, but something needs to be said about Senator Kramer. This whole election run four years before the election, whatever, that's politics. But coming up to Cal's hometown just to whip up anger and make a giant show out of things, he's got responsibility for what happened after that. He skipped out on the job he was elected to in Congress to try to incite a riot, nine people are dead because of it, and he needs to resign. It's that simple."

Chase: “So you’re saying that Senator Kramer went to Dillon with the intent to incite violence?”

Reed: "It certainly looked that way to me. Either he was deliberately trying to stir up a fight, or he's incredibly incompetent not to realize what he was doing. Either way he ditched his job, and either way he should resign. And let's be honest, this man was in the CIA for, what, forty years? He knew exactly what he was doing and what would happen, and he did it deliberately.”

Chase: "Yes...it certainly appears that way doesn't it. Targeting the President's hometown on the beginning of a protest candidacy definitely looks like malicious intent. I don't know if we can assume that Kramer expected things to get that out of hand, but nonetheless, I see where you're coming from."

Reed: "I don't see any way to explain it but malice or ignorance, and Kramer has had too much experience to credibly claim ignorance. Keeping Noble with him just backs that up. If he was too blind to see her for what she was, and think that the rally was anything but inciting, then he belongs in a retirement home and not the U.S. Congress.”

Chase: “I will say, going back over his speech, there’s not really anything that would indicate a legal incitation of violence. That’s not to say that wasn’t his intent, but it isn’t really prosecutable. However, he should still be held accountable for his actions, and if resignation is the proper way for that to happen, he should resign. Now, turning to Noble, her legal defense claims that her and Senator Kramer were under attack by Howland Reed, and that’s why she opened fire. Now, I find it absolutely bizarre that someone would A. carry a pistol with an automatic simulator as self-defense, and B. fire into a crowd of people, to defend themselves from an attacker on foot. What do you say to her claims that her actions were in self-defense?”

Reed: "Noble started shooting before Howland even knew she was there, and then fired away into the crowd after shooting him before he forced the gun away. That's not self-defense by any definition.”

Chase: “Was Howland Reed ever offered Secret Service protection?”

Reed: She nodded.

"He turned it down. He was a very independent man. He didn't want something like that to weigh on his family, or change things for them. I just only wish they could have been there, just that one time."

Her voice turned from the more firm, accusing tone she had been putting forward to one revealing some genuine emotion, though still composed.

Chase: "Would you oppose a measure to require parents of the President to have Secret Service protection, rather than simply offering it?"

Reed: She sighed.
"That's really something awful to think about right now, when you just had something like this happen, when you've lost someone, it's hard to say no to a measure like that, but I'm going to. I don't think it's right to force that on someone like that, and really, it should never have been necessary. Dillon is a small town in rural Montana. There was nothing that was ever going to happen there until Kramer came along. That protection should never have been necessary. If we want to look at what could have prevented this, the blame is at his feet.”

Chase: “What about the State of Montana? It seems like there wasn’t near the police force on hand to handle such a catastrophe.”

Reed: "I'll be honest here and say that I don't know the process for having a rally in Montana or Dillon. If they needed a permit, I don't know how they were given one, or who made that decision, but it was obviously the wrong one. In my own personal experience, running security works best when you have some prior warning and an idea of what you're getting into." She paused. "I guess that's obvious. But I'm not going to judge how the officers there did without knowing what the circumstances were.”

Chase: “Do you think the police force in Dillon is large enough to adequately handle large rallies as such?”

Reed: "I don't know. I don't know the size of the police force, or much more about them."

Chase: “I just figured that you could speak to that at least some from your law enforcement experience. Now, what about the choice to prosecute Noble federally? There’s no doubt that she’s going to get put away for a very long time under Montana’s laws, so why pursue federal charges?”

Reed: "The way I understand the American system, this gives two chances. Even if she somehow escapes the federal charge, she can still be convicted at the state level, without it being double jeopardy, since the charges are for different crimes. In my experience, there is no such thing as an open-and-shut case. I've seen lawyers get completely guilty criminals free because of technicalities or loopholes. I don't want that to happen with Noble."

Chase: “I suppose that makes sense. On a completely different topic, how are your early days in the White House? Is your family settling in well?”

Reed: "I'm still getting used to the logistics of everything. You can't go out and buy your own groceries like we used to, it all gets brought in. That's the strangest part in everything actually, everything is contained there in the White House, food, the doctor, even things like diapers. It takes some getting used to, especially when it's so big, but I think we've been getting the hang of it."

Chase: “It’s gotta be convenient to have all your amenities right there, but at the same time, strange to have a large staff like this in proximity with your family.”

Reed: "It's both." she agreed, simply.

Chase: “What about Secret Service? Having them everywhere you go must be a change...but I guess you’ve had them around since last year.”

Reed: "It's not something I enjoy, but it is something I understand. When Cal announced, we didn't have anything, didn't even hire private bodyguards. Once he started winning, they stepped in, that stepped up another level once he won, and now that we're in the House, it's obviously hit the extreme level. It's just something you have to deal with. I think sometimes they fade into the background for people, that hasn't happened with me yet, but maybe it'll start feeling more normal after a few years."

Chase: “After the shooting, are they taking any extra precautions?”

Reed: "Of course, especially since Noble is out on bail again, there's no telling what she might try. Mary, that's Cal's mother, Howland's wife, they convinced her to take on protection, at least for the immediate future, and a lot of Cal's siblings are getting the same treatment, which is a lot of manpower. My mother, too, but I don't think she's at too much risk, I almost doubt Noble has a passport, not that crossing illegally is that hard. As for Cal and I, well, you got to see that firsthand just outside."

Chase: “I hope for your family to stay as safe as possible during this trying time. Well, Aubrey, we’re going to head to commercial break. And for our viewers out there, stay tuned to hear more about the First Lady’s early weeks in the White House.”

Aubrey took the few moments to make a few minute, pointless corrections, slightly pulling up one of the wrists of her undershirt, turning a button slightly, and the like, silently occupying herself.

Two interns bring out glasses of water for Aubrey and Kristina, as well as a sheet of paper. After reading the paper, Kristina leans over toward Aubrey and asks “what do you know about these executive orders your husband just put out?”

"The only one I know about was the one with drones." Aubrey answered, taking a sip.

“It’s not that. This is just out...stuff on government hiring practices that will make LGBTQ groups pretty upset, stuff on healthcare that will make abortion advocates mad,” said Chase. “I would love to ask some questions on this, but out of the spirit of fairness, I’ll hold off if you don’t think you’re ready.”

Aubrey chewed on the inside of her cheek, thinking.

"How long do we have before the break ends? Do you have a copy or something that I can read?"

Kristina hands her the paper with a brief summary of the orders.

“I wish I had the whole text, but will this do?”

Aubrey skims as quickly as she is able, not taking in the information near fast enough, then shakes her head.

"All right, just go ahead and fire away, I'll work with it."

“Okay, we’re live in about one minute,” says Kristina, adjusting her blouse.
