Senator Kramer walked into the building and announced to the receptionist that he was here for a scheduled meeting with Representative Morton. After sitting down Kramer began thinking to himself. "I wonder how this will go" Kramer thought apprehensive about the potential result of the meeting.

The receptionist greeted the Senator and showed him to Morton's private office. There was a large desk at the center of the room, with a file cabinet and other furniture behind it. A few framed pictures were placed on the wall. One showed Morton as a young man, at Ben Gross's victory party after becoming the mayor of Milipitas. Another showed Morton at his retirement party at McKinsey, after all his years of work. Yet another showed him in Congress.

Morton himself was sitting at his desk, looking over some notes in his trusty notebook.

He looked up to see Senator Kramer. "Senator, it's good to finally meet you. Please, sit." He motioned to the other chair.

"Thank you Representative" Kramer said before sitting down. "I like the look of your office. it gives a very professional aura."

"I keep the only Democrat support being the Johnsons. I head over to Santa Clarita after I get someone to make me a bit of a poster for me. I have more Republican support than the Democrats, that's for sure. Anything else of importance?" Cox asked, nearly finished with his drink.

"Not really, no. Remember what we discussed: make sure you have a detailed policy plan before you get out on the campaign trail. I'll expect your endorsement for my campaign and the pension reform proposal, so be ready for that when it happens. I'll announce my endorsement of you at your fundraiser, which should be coming up in a week or two."

She handed him a business card with her phone number. "If you have any questions or concerns in the future, feel free to give me a call. For now, though...." She raised her glass for a toast. "To the future of the Republican Party in California."

Cox was about to raise his glass, until Cao mentioned endorsements. "Hang on. Are you running for governor also? Or for lieutenant governor I presume?" Cox was slightly getting suspicious at Cao, though he only needed some confirmation before he can give a reason to endorse her.

He motioned to the fridge. "Feel free to have some bottled water if you'd like. Anyways, I wanted to meet with you to discuss how to build an effective political coalition to fight for fair trade. "I've already begun of the work of forming an organization for such a task; or rather, reforming it. I want to rebuild the old Committee for National Interests, a lobbying group that was active for about 60 or 70 years until they died out in the 90s. I have a list of potential issues that the CNI could focus on..." He fumbled around for his notes.

"Ah. Here it is. Read over it and tell me what you think."

• Renegotiate flawed trade agreements to provide market access to foreign markets on a reciprocal basis and avoid the mutual lowering of health, safety, and environmental standards.

• Strict enforcement of relevant laws and regulations to deter unfair practices such as the violation of intellectual property, dumping, and one-sided subsidies.

• Stopping the mass outsourcing of jobs through incentives and deterrent measures.

• Requiring that all new trade agreements be negotiated on a bilateral, rather than a multilateral basis, so that Congress and the public can better judge whether or not these agreements are beneficial for American consumers, workers, and businesses.

Katherine waves her hand in front of Walsh's face and laughs. "Hello there? Earth to the Congressman!"

Walsh comes to, visions of the time he snapped the neck of an East German Spy dissipating as he coughed and smiled.

"Sorry about that Katherine. Companionship is, to me, when two people really, truly, understand each other, and act as a co-equal unit that works to make the aspirations and goals of both parties involved a reality." He tried to recover.

"Cheers. I know that the next year or so will be challenging, but if you keep a positive attitude and stick to it, you'll succeed. I'll start sending over materials that you can look over, to help you build your policy agenda for the campaign. I hope you'll do the same for me as well."

Kramer stood up and got a bottle of water from the fridge before sitting back down "I definetly agree with you on that representative."

"Do you have any other comments? Or can you think of anything that could be added to this proposed agenda Senator?"

Kramer stood up and got a bottle of water from the fridge before sitting back down "I definetly agree with you on that representative."

"Do you have any other comments? Or can you think of anything that could be added to this proposed agenda Senator?"

"I would say to add to the agenda a proposal to only trade with nations that hold free and open elections. This is because if we are seen as the cradle of democracy than why should we trade with nations who abuse and exploit their citizens for personal gain." Kramer responded before taking a sip from the water bottle.

"While I would be grateful for an endorsement from the Journal, that's not what I was talking about. I meant reports, statistics, op-eds from newspapers... anything that proposes or analyzes policy. For example, I could share with you a report from the Little Hoover Commission, which is an independent agency that analyzes state policy decisions. Or I could share statistics from the state government. That's what I mean by materials."

"I worked for him after the CIA, I was a special adviser." he said, clarifying. "An interesting boss to be sure. What is it that you do Katherine?"
