Sydney Cao yawned and stretched her arms before she entered the taxi that would take her to the train station. It would be a while before she got back to Fairfield, and she wanted to use the time she had wisely.
She got out her notebook and began to sketch out what she would say to the others she was recruiting. They were all researchers and policy analysts: her kind of people.
She would stop by the Public Policy Institute of California first to meet with Ned Carter and Maria Gonzalez. Carter focused on climate change and energy, while Gonzalez focused on issues relating to governance and fiscal policy.
Next up was the Pacific Research Institute. They had experts in housing, education, and poverty. In particular, Cao was looking forward to meeting with Ray Richardson, an economist who had served in the previous Republican governor's administration.
After that would be the Independent Institute. They would have a variety of experts on topics from healthcare to civil rights. Madison Sharps, a civil rights advocate, would help flesh out policy on discrimination.
Together, they and others would make the perfect team of advisors about the issues facing California... if she could convince them to help.
