"I do greatly appreciate it." Prejean said, flashing another smile, as he eyed the variety of sandwiches. "Oh, is that turkey at the end? I'd be interested in some turkey, please. Thank you."

Prejean, upon being granted said sandwich, began to think why Fowler had bought so many sandwiches - but kept that thought internalized to himself. "How's your time in Washington been for you, Mr. Fowler?"

With the first session of the new congress over and done with, Dr. Yang left the capital with more than a few things on her mind. The passage of an act that, in her opinion, left beaten wives and innocent children vulnerable to exposure to their abusers and sexual predators had left a disgusting taste in her mouth, one that probably wouldn't dissapear unless it was struck down in the Senate. She layed blame on Rossi's war of attrition, one that did not truly take into account what effect the legislation would have on people across the country, but rather one meant to push through her bill regardless of its flaws. Thinking back to those that voted in the affirmative on the amendment, she decided to make a call once she was secure in a taxi, partition up. She looked down at a list of political positions on her tablet and simultaneously retrieved her cell phone from her purse.

She dialed the number for Carter Roberts' Senate Campaign and waited for someone to pick up.

"Difficult to say the least, been facing some tough opposition but overall progress is being made. How has it been for yourself?"

Normally, either Roberts's secretary or one of the volunteers manning the phones would have answered, but at the moment, they were all hovering over the Chinese food that Carter's wife Kara had brought to the office. Josiah, Carter's younger son, picked up the phone instead, as he was sitting at one of the desks watching basketball highlights on YouTube.

"Roberts for Senate, this is Josiah, how may I direct your call?"

She turned and looked at Jared, smiling. Then she turned to Mr. O'Leary. "It didn't work. I've come to the conclusion that the Progressives are not who they say they are. Walton is a a narcissist or sociopath or something, and that whole party is her enablers. I told her some solid ideas about ways to end gun violence, but I got the feeling she wouldn't support them unless they were her idea."

"She is dedicated to herself." Papa O'Leary spoke up taking a bite of goose. "You do well to reject her."

Denisevich scanned the horizon once more, then stopped to pat his dog on the head.

"No progress with Sunshine. She has been difficult to get a hold of. But I feel things will be positive on that end very soon."

Reed looked surprised."You did? Wojtalewicz...I can't say I can remember who that is."

Denisevich was a bit surprised. He genuinely thought that they had discussed it. "I thought that we brought him up during our first meeting? When I went to the Harbor Light the first time. He is a former Senator from Wisconsin. Recommended to me by a few people, as he has military and security experience, and is independent-minded."

The cold air made it so one could see the elderly man's breath as he stepped out of his old truck and walked down the sidewalk to one of his favorite local restaurants. Snow was sprinkled on the ground, and was piled in larger drifts along the sides of the buildings and the rooftops. The Clark Fork River ran just across the park that bordered downtown, and it was frozen over. The whole town of Missoula had not a heavy cover of snow, but just enough of a frosting to make it look like winter.

Governor Doug Stephens sat down at a table, and looked at his watch. The drive from Helena was not too bad in the snow, and Stephens figured it would be the best idea to meet Mitch Cory, his former adversary, on his home turf. Doc was set on making amends for the things he said during the campaign, it was not a pretty race by any means.

This was twofold: he genuinely felt sorry for getting hammered and tweeting lies about Cory, and he also knew that like it or not, Cory was going to be around Montana politics for awhile, and Stephens would have no choice but to work with him.

He waited, watching the door for when Mr. Cory would come inside.

Cal rubbed his head. "Right, right, I remember him on the list as someone we might consider finding a spot for, but I don't remember us ever deciding to offer him a position." He squeezed the bridge of his nose. "I don't suppose he turned it down?"

Mitch Cory had woken up fairly early that day, and worked with his "team" of four other guys in his studio to edit the previous evening's podcast. It was a fairly interesting show, he had discussed the death of Winston with a comedian who had Skyped in, and a local Montana GOP committee member. But now he had a rather important meeting with a former rival at one of his favorite joints to discuss making amends.

He liked the guy, and his policies. It was one of the closest races in the country, and was a great way to get his feet wet politically. He would not be leaving politics. Ever since his show had taken a political bent, and he wrote his books condemning Winston, it was going to happen. While he could influence politics from his basement in some ways, no one would think of him as anything more than a UFC fighter until he took office and served.

Cory entered the restaurant, smiled and nodded to a fan who recognized him, waved to the Governor, and sat down across from him.

"Hey man, how's it going?"

"He accepted the position." Denisevich paused for a moment. "I could send him away at the drop of a hat. It would look bad for me, of course, but I would do it. These communication wrinkles should be worked out when we are both in the West Wing."

Cal shook his head. "No, no, it's fine. Just a misunderstanding. I had been thinking of offering the position to Bellamy, but if you think that he's going to be a good fit there, then I'll trust your judgment on it."

"Alright Mr. Reed. I will be more on the ball in the future."

Again he paused, scanned the horizon, and disenchanted with what he saw, began to turn around and head back the way they came.

"Sir? I know this is unprofessional, but could I ask you for a piece of personal advice?"
