"I don't think I really have too much of a problem with the establishment, I'm just on the outside looking in right now." Hazelelponi mused. "That's the answer to your second question, really. The Progressives would never take me in a million years after what I just said to you, but being Independent, you don't have anyone to work with. You have a whole party behind you to get your bills through committee, support what you're writing, a whip to get the votes-none of that when you're an independent. It's just me and Chandler, and two isn't many when there's a hundred in the Senate."

"It's a good point. We're a few seats down from where'd we want to be, and a few of those aren't really with us." He scuffed his foot in the snow, glancing about. "Makes you wonder if we've got any room for a Lincoln-style cabinet. That reminds me, though-have we closed the deal on the new HUD pick?"

Danders, when he went and endorsed partial-birth abortion as a good,as a right decision, that was just appalling to me. That, more than anything, I mean, when the child is already almost born, to do that. That wasn't the only reason, but when he was chosen as the nominee, I just couldn't forget that."

She turned and looked at Jared, smiling. Then she turned to Mr. O'Leary. "It didn't work. I've come to the conclusion that the Progressives are not who they say they are. "OK, here we go."

"I would really like to see some real gun control put into place. Restrictions on more high-capacity quick-fire weapons, and a much expanded system of background checks and screenings and a database for them, along with firearm owners ID cards."

"I'd prefer to see some more nationalization of the health system. Star working on creating a more unified system, we could do it in tiers, if it was preferred, have private, public options, but get away from the sort of hodge-podge we have now, I mean, we can see it's not working, we spend more than anybody else, and we don't get much of anything from it."

I would really like to see us start investing more in programs to diagnose and treat mental health. That's always been something we've been far behind in, and it's something that absolutely needs to be done. These are people who really need help more than almost anyone, they just can't take it themselves."

"We really need to get a handle on our border, immigration, yeah, but also the drugs that are just flowing across it. I'd like to see a good fence up if we can't get a wall, and working harder on making sure border security is working."

"I'd like to see resources put into helping parents who choose to homeschool. That's something that I think is something important to promote culturally, and it can really be difficult with the way things are now. Putting some effort into making that a more workable option would be a great step."

"Education in inner cities too, needs help. We've got some major problems with the way everything is districted and diluted down to the lowest levels, where you'll end up getting discrimination, economic, racial, funding. A uniform kind of provision for investing in those kind of schools should be a definite priority."

"I'd like to see us take stronger action at offering a home to refugees fleeing from the Middle East, and to make sure that we have a really open, working system. Right now we're doing a lot through the U.N. with the refugees, and that's ended up being bad for some minority religious groups that get left out by that system. We've got to work on both taking in here, and on-the-ground work there."

"We've got to put some actual work into making a two-state solution work in Israel. We just sort of make statements and then leave it all by the wayside, and don't really get in, and do something. I mean, we've been kicking the can down the road for literally decades. It's time to get in and make this work."

"Drugs, drug abuse, needs more work too. Painkillers, opiods, drug abuse. We overprescribe a lot of medicines, and we don't work on that, and we don't work on trying to fix the effects of it either. Treatment centers are something that would be great to invest in."

"Human trafficking, that's something that needs a real strong response. It's definitely happening here, even when we're not aware of it, especially sex trafficking, but other kinds too. More resources to law enforcement is big, but we can make hospitals a front line in this, a lot of trafficked people get treated, but the doctors don't know the signs. Work on helping medical professionals find the signs, and work on major crackdowns by law enforcement, more stings, more SWAT, more authority to bring this stuff down. Shut it down on the web, too."

"Coast Guard, going off that, too, the border part. We get a lot of drugs from shipping, human trafficking from shipping, and we can work on stopping both of those right on the outside. I think they definitely need an expansion."

"Darn, I only have one more, don't I? Well, I guess military, lots of things, but I'd say there's gotta be work on fixing the VA, the system absolutely needs a shakeup right now. But for the military, we've been way underfunded on maintenance, repairs, and restoration, we've got planes flying that are about to lose their wings. We're not getting anywhere when half the fleet's not combat-ready because their parts haven't been replaced in twenty years. That's a major area to hit hard."

"Guess I'm at my limit. I've still got more though."

"Guns? Can't help you, campaign promise"

"Healthcare, im with you but thats gonna be bigger than any one person"

"Mental health, already working on some legislation"

"Im for a fence but we also need to control visas and reform legal immigration"

"I have a massive school choice program coming up, my wife runs one of the largest and most successful charter school organizations in the country. Home Schools are certainly a part of that"

"Inner city education is a joke, in Baltimore last year 6 schools had 0 people pass national tests. But everyone graduated, people are functionally illiterate, despite how much we pay. Its time to take charge."

"Im for refugees entering but we need some stronger vetting"

"Im for a two state solution, im very pro israel. They have offered massive concessions in the past that were rejected. I want to revisit those."

"Im working on a reform on the war on drugs currently, a treatment first approach."

"I did a whole video on human trafficking, its something that doesn't get the attention it deserves."

"Any war on crime needs a stronger coast guard, unfortunately funding originates in the house. But we have a few things we could do."

"I heard about a Representative from Connecticut named Brennan, you want to do VA reform chat with him. For the rest of it, a guy like Reed isn't going to have a problem funding the military."

"So to sum up their are quite a few thing we can work on. I have infrastructure and support for a few of these. Which sounds most interesting to you?"

Hazelelponi muses over the response, and decides to pick out what sounds like it best allows a response.

"What kind of stronger vetting are you looking for? I mean, right now we've got it so that it takes them a year and half to even get in, there's so big a vetting process. I don't know how much more people want here. You can get in faster just by applying for visas than vetting."

"The best recommendation for Congress right now is to demand detailed information from the administration on how risks are being mitigated. The threat is always growing and agencies have said they cannot properly vet refugees. Just because something takes a long time doesn't mean its effective or efficient. It is time to reexamine our process and improve it"

"But why?" Hazelelponi asked. "Sure, you can improve anything, but we already know that it's effective. There hasn't been one terror attack by a refugee since we made the system with Reagan, it's working. Meanwhile we've had dozens of school shootings just in the last decade and a half, it's almost an usual occurrence now. Shouldn't we be focusing on that instead?"

"We should be focusing on that instead, but you asked about the refugees. As for the terror attacks, we've never had a situation like this and ISIS has specifically said they are going to send operatives as refugees to attack America, and Europe has suffered several attacks. We need to be cautious, if for no other reason than to assure the American people."

"Is it really just a propaganda campaign, then?" Hazelelponi asked. "For no other reason than assurance" isn't really a reason. We're talking about turning back people we can help, so we can feel safer, even if it's not actually being safer?"
