Kingsley pushed himself to his feet with a bit of a groan, then tipped his cap to Fowler as he made his way out.

Fowler made his way to the office of Zipporah Hazelelponi, the former democratic and current independent Senator from Flordia. Fowler collected himself and introduced himself to the secretary of Hazelelponi "Yes im Zachary Fowler, I have an appointment with Senator Hazelelponi?"

Tucked into an odd offshoot off of the Russell building's courtyard, Hazelelponi's office wasn't exactly prime real estate, but she had chosen to hold onto it even after a chance to move up now, with two years of seniority banked. It was hers, a small comfort, even if it could be mistaken for a maintenance closet from the exterior.

Things livened up a little inside the door, at least. Fowler was speaking to the secretary in the small entry room where she sat, and she offered a polite, Secretarial smile at the question.

"Of course, Senator Fowler, she's expecting you." She picked up a phone, and spoke into it briefly.

"Senator, your appointment is here." Something must have come over the line in reply, because she took to her feet.

"She's ready for you, Senator. I'll take you right in."

Walking over, the secretary opened the door, and then, turning left, the second one leading into Hazelelponi's personal office, holding it open for Fowler to enter.

Fowler entered quickly extending his hand "Senator-Elect Zachary Fowler, its a pleasure to meet you mam"

Zipporah was already standing before her desk as Fowler's entry. She wore a simple cream-colored blouse with shortened sleeves above a black, ankle-length skirt. She had a bandaged wrapped around her upper left arm, and, almost reaching it, a long opera-like glove going past the elbow. Her right arm remained in a blank cast.

She blushed slightly at the offered hand, and shifted her own left hand towards him gingerly as a replacement offer.

"Sorry about that. I'm not quite up to speed yet." She noted, embarrassed.

"The doctor's going to check on it next week, but it might be up until the end of the month. Compound fracture." She winced.

"How about we talk in the conference room? It has some more comfortable seats." She gestured at the door to her right.

Letting Fowler get the door, Hazelelponi followed him into the room, taking a seat herself.

"Few things... But to start, what are your feelings on LGTBQ rights?"

Hazelelponi sighed. "I'm never going to be what you call a supporter, or an ally on something like that. Sodomy, sex-changes, they're wrong, and that's not changing. I guess I've come to something of a compromise on some of these things, like, that there's no such thing as homosexual marriage, but a civil 'marriage' or union could be accepted by a secular government. A sort of understanding, if you want to call it that, on distinguishing society and law-but don't expect me to go out and be "affirming" or anything like that."

"Im working with a number of democrats and republicans to craft a series of laws protecting the LGBTQ community with respecting religious freedom. Compromise bills built on mutual respect and understanding, the first bill will handle employment, finance and housing. Would you be interested in taking a look?"

"I've been working on it with Senator Conti, quite closely" Fowler hands over a flash drive "Sorry I don't have any paper copies". Fowler cleared his throat "You don't need to look at it right now, but Conti and I are planning on taking on Governor WIlliams and his EO then using it as a springboard for legislation like this. It's all gonna be happening pretty fast."

Nicole looked at him sternly "shhh! I already told you. I was trying to get Walton on board with my anti-gun violence initiative." She looked at him, hoping he wouldn't mention the other reason she was there.

"I have a pension insurance reform bill, its not a subject thats gotten a lot of attention but the costs of the program are skyrocketing because of poorly written and outdated rules, business and unions taking advantage... Its a mess and we are expecting a massive bailout in the next ten years, thousands of dollars per family. This fixes the system along a proven to work model."
