"Good afternoon, ladies and gentleman of great State of Iowa. Today I am proud to announce to the citizens of our state the introduction of the Protection of the Unborn Iowans Act, authored by myself and sponsored by Representative Fareo, and Representative McCarthy. This bill seeks to prohibit any abortion from taking place in our state once a fetal heartbeat is detected. The heartbeat, which is synonymous to life itself, is sacred. This bill also sets harsher penalties for physicians who knowingly and willingly perform these operations.

This is not the first time that such a bill has been introduced to the Iowa General Assembly. When I was Speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives, I introduced a bill quite similar to this in nature, but it was rejected by the Democratic Senate at the time. With our party now holding both houses in our General Assembly, it is now possible to step in and defend the right to life. I campaigned on the efforts to protect those unborn, and I intend to keep this promise.

We must now act on this divisiveness issue as a unified state. This is not simply a partisan issue, but an issue of life itself. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike can rally behind the message of life. I urge all citizens across the state to call their congressperons and urge them to support the bill. Together, we will make our state better for the next generation one step at a time, and this is how we will do this. Thank you, Iowa, and may God bless this great state."

A BILL

To protect the life of unborn children at the beginning of life in the State of Iowa

Be it enacted by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the State of Iowa in the General Assembly assembled,

SECTION I. Short Title

1. This act may be henceforth cited as the "Protection of the Unborn Iowans Act".

SECTION II. Definitions

1. Fetal Heartbeat means the rhythmic motion of cardiac activity in an fetal heart.
2. Abortion means the termination of a human pregnancy with intent to do so.
3. Medical Emergency is a situation in which an expecting mother's life may be put in danger due to a pregnancy.

SECTION III. Prohibition

1. Henceforth, with the exceptions declared in Section III, Subsection II of this bill, no physician shall perform an abortion in the State of Iowa after a fetal heartbeat is detected. Before any operation with the intent to terminate a pregnancy, physicians must check to ensure the fetus does not display signs of a fetal heartbeat.
2. In situations in which a medical emergency arises, physicians may use reasonable judgment to decide whether an abortion is the only possible outcome to save the mother's life. All decisions must receive a second opinion from another physician operating at a different location.
3. Physicians must inform the patient whether a heartbeat was detected in writing. If the heartbeat was detected, the physician must notify the patient of such, including when the heartbeat was first detected, and shall not perform the operation. If the heartbeat was not detected, the physician must notify the patient and must wait at least forty-eight (48) hours after the notification before performing the operation. The patient must provide written consent to the operation, and must acknowledge the penalties outlined in Section IV of this act if provisions within this act were violated.

SECTION IV. Penalties

1. Any physician that has been determined to knowingly and willingly perform an abortion after the fetal heartbeat was detected, without the exception of a medical emergency, shall be guilty of a 'Class C' felony. If convicted, the physician shall be fined no less than $1,000 and no more than $10,000 and/or shall serve up to 10 years in prison.
2. Any physician that has been determined to knowingly and willingly perform an abortion after the fetal heartbeat was detected, without the exception of a medical emergency shall have their license to operate and perform their duties in the State of Iowa suspended indefinitely.

SECTION V. Information

1. If a patient requesting an abortion is found to have satisfied the necessary requirements in Section III of this act, the physician must give the patient information on plans for giving their child for adoption and notify them of the consequences of such abortion, such as cramping, bleeding, and spotting. They shall also inform the patient of the likely emotional side effects, such as depression and other mental illnesses.
2. Any physician must receive written consent immediately prior to the operation, which must be kept for no less than five years.

SECTION VI. Effect

1. All provisions of this act shall take effect ninety days after signage from the Governor of the State of Iowa.

"It's coming to an end, the New Jersey Primary. But - let us not make this the end of great beginnings. If you all rally with me on election day, we will not make this the end, only the beginning to a political revolution to storm and shake up the political class of New Jersey. The tenants we hold so dearly, not only in our movement, but in the entire Democratic Party are in serious danger. Tony Schlang poses a deadly threat to the elect-ability of the Democratic Party and most importantly, the ethics we maintain in the New Jersey Democratic Party. I believe Tony Schlang knows that every time he steps out of his mansion, his credibility is put on the chopping blocks because of his mistreatment of women. He's hiding from the reality of New Jersey, hoping to win the position with luck and incredible amounts of corporate backing. This is the problem, Schlang is part of this major political machine that believes they are personally destined to be given positions of power. That's why they don't bother to campaign and engage the masses. His campaign is literally built off big money, that big money are the same corporations that control Governor Hotchkiss.

We are sick of Hotchkiss, and we as progressive Jerseyians must understand that Schlang is Hotchkiss. We won't get anything new, anything different from voting for Schlang. We'll get the status quo, of dysfunction, of scandals and the further corporatism of our political system. Time for a new future, for our children and their children. I'm going to ban corporate donations and lobbying. Gone, to end corruption and bring back the power to the people. I know Hotchkiss and Schlang squirm at the thought of that, it'd be the doom of their careers. They've brought it upon themselves, and the seat of power has been stained with legal bribery and corporate lobbying. This leaves a small cabal of so-called 'representatives' that do not follow the will of their constituents, but the will of their big donors.

Voting is the power we control, and the left can re-take the Democratic Party in New Jersey. Here in New Jersey, we can be the start of something bigger. We could inspire left-wing insurgencies across the entire Democratic Party. It's needed too, the people won't vote for the Democratic Party in its' current state; we need to re-take our base that went to the Progressive Party. Not that the Progressive Party is better, in fact, they are worse. The Walton Family are the largest union abusers and they have been responsible for disintegrating worker's right's across the entire country. A vote for me is stronger unions, as a union man myself, I understand their importance to our economy. We need the unions back in their prime to end wage stagnation and force the massive conglomerates to share in their increasing wealth.

Let's ask the 1%, the big corporations to pay a little extra in tax to help the little guy. I will fund a universal healthcare, free healthcare for all citizens of New Jersey. I like to call it Medicare for All. For all, not only those who can afford it, but the poor, disadvantaged, minorities, elderly and the youth. Which brings me to the straddling of debt that we are giving our students who simply want to get higher education! What country do we live in where education isn't seen as a right of an American citizen! I want to cover the cost of college tuition for our college students, instead of piling on debt. No man, woman or child will be left behind if you vote for me, Jersey City.

Vote, vote, vote. This is one of the most important elections this year, we need to show en masse that we, the people, will be put first, not last. I'm the Democratic Candidate that stands for the Democratic values, not the Democrat who tries to be a Republican, because voting for Tony Schlang is no better than voting for a Hotchkiss Governorship. Same old corruption with a new face. There's a 98% chance that Schlang is a serial rapist. I'm not going to bet my vote on that. In the Schlang HQ, Schlang was throwing another fit over the campaign.

Schlang took his coffee mug and threw it at the wall across from him, shattering it right behind an intern. He was pissed over Joh Stansky's continued attacks, and continued stamina.

"FUCK!" He yelled again, before throwing himself onto his table, cracking the cheap plywood down the middle and collapsing it onto him.

The campaign had previously been cautious regarding Don Schlang. The candidate's father had been his chief of staff before, and was his son's key advisor. The man encouraged the worst out of Schlang, especially with his unsavory methods. But given Schlang's meltdown, the staff had no choice but to give Don a call.

It turned out Don was camping out at a hotel a few blocks away, as he had been waiting for the moment of his son's collapse for weeks. The short old man strutted into the conference room twenty minutes later.

"Get up pal," he said.

Schlang yelled "FUCK!" again.

Don walked up and grabbed his son's arm, yanking him up. When he stood there with his face glazed over, Don punched him in the jaw, knocking him back onto the remnants of the table. It was a punch he had felt many times before, and he knew what it meant. So he immediately stood back up, and looked his father in the eye.

"Tony, you fucktard, you been through far worse than this. Remember that time on Daytona Beach," he mused.

Schlang rolled his eyes. "This fucker Joh Stansky keeps pressin' the issue. He-"

"He's Joh fuckin' Stansky. He sure's hell ain't helping himself. He played that creepy ass ad that no one will fall for. He's making up statistical bull, and he's overplaying his hand. Plus he's a shit candidate."

He coughed, then continued. "You're gonna go to Newark, hit the cities. Blacks love you, so do the machines and you've gotta whip 'em out. We also gotta run an ad turnin' the tables on this sonofabitch. He's the asshole, not you Tony."

Schlang TV Ad

The Schlang campaign created a TV ad to respond to Stansky's campaign. An effort was made for the ad to not be creepy, so it included just a single woman in a nondescript setting, seated before the camera.

(The woman spoke with a Jersey accent) My name's Julie D'Angelo. I'm a working mom with three girls. I tell ya what, this Joh Stansky guy's really tickin' me off.

I get that Schlang was accused of some bad stuff. But I watch the news, the accusations were dropped. The only person accusin' this guy of anything now is Joh Stansky. Really? Joh keeps actin' like he's some great protector of women. Not only that, he's tellin' these women that they were sexually assaulted when they are now sayin' otherwise. That's creepy and sends the wrong message to the daughters I'm tryin' to raise.

This Schlang guy ain't perfect. But this Joh guy's attitude towards women is just plain creepy. I agree that women should probably be believed, so why doesn't he believe these women when they drop their accusations?"
