Justice Alana Keegan was a brilliant woman of enormous intelligence and great strength. Her commitment to the values enshrined in our nation's founding documents was unrivalled, and her vow to serve as an independent non-partisan voice on the court was never broken in her years of rulings. Fred Granden's DC Residence

Jane Campbell's visit to her father's house in DC was simply supposed to be a friendly one. Chat about some of the recent legislation, tell him about a high profile murder case she had just won back in Kansas, gush about her 2-year-old son. It wasn't supposed to end in her father making a catastrophically bad mistake that he may end up paying for dearly.

It had started when Fred asked her to help him set up a Twitter account. No big deal, she had thought. Pretty much everyone in Congress has one. She filled in all the information, let him set up a bio, and voila, @FredGrandenKS was born. He picked up a substantial amount of followers early, including some of his colleagues in Congress. Such was the nature of being popular with your constituents.

And then Jamie Johnson went and awoke a rage monster she never knew existed.

It didn't help that Sam Soberman had already lashed out at him even before he had Tweeted anything more than an introduction. Fred was in a less-than-stellar mood after that, which was worsened when he got wind of the President's SCOTUS pick.

"Rossi?" he asked incredulously. "Rossi? Cal, she's brilliant, but... hoo boy, that'll make the left happy, I'm sure."

None of that apprehension was evident in his Twitter response. He praised Reed unconditionally, as per usual, a move which Jane was starting to dislike. Ironic, yes, since lawyers have got a reputation as the deceptive tools of the devil to uphold, but she still was wary of how misleading it was, even with her being well aware of how common political trickery was in today's day and age. It was here where she departed to meet with an old friend, and the whole mess began.

Johnson attacked him. Fred got angry and retaliated. Soberman took another shot at him. Fred got angrier and shot back. Johnson played the debate card. Fred hit his breaking point and proceeded to screw everything up. But it didn't end there. De Nieto called him out, so he again fired back. Brennan tried to calm things down, and Fred still couldn't take a hint, so he dug his hole deeper. Then Kramer, like Brennan, tried to fix things, only to watch Fred continue taking shots at fellow Republicans. It was at this point that Glenda Granden returned from a trip to the supermarket, learned what was happening, and began pleading with Fred to stop and take everything back.

Jane didn't know that any of this was going on. She was too busy laughing and getting coffee with a friend from college. She got back home mere minutes after Fred sent the Kramer tweet. She opened the door to find Glenda begging him not to Tweet again, and Fred raving about Jason Pross, the latest to criticize him. "Mom, what the hell is happening?" Jane demanded.

"Your father - he's lost it online, Twitter, and it could be bad..." She trailed off as she saw Fred trying to type something, presumably another Tweet. "Fred! Stop!"

Fred backed down begrudgingly; despite what his Tweets may have lead some to believe, he still had some respect in him, mainly for his wife. Meanwhile, Jane had raced online and seen the mess. She looked up in anger and instantly reached for her dad's phone. After a brief struggle, she wrestled it out of his hands. She then turned to Glenda. "Mom, get Dad out of the room. Get him to sleep. Needless to say, he'll be apologizing tomorrow."

Fred glared at her, ready to object, but on Glenda's insistence, they made their way to their bedroom, and soon, audible snoring could be heard. As soon as Fred left, Jane walked outside and started to rant. "Dad, what the HELL were you thinking? Why are you so aggressive all of a sudden? Where'd that political strategy come from? Good luck getting your support from the House back! DAMMIT!" She lobbed a rock into a nearby field and then sat down on the Grandens' porch, tired and angry. After calming down, she decided to go home. She didn't want anything to do with this anymore. He's gonna have to handle the consequences himself.

Her thoughts on the car ride to her hotel were jumbled and mostly related to how sick she was of her dad's politics. But then, a new thought crossed her mind. One that would still take a few years to come to fruition, but one that intrigued her nonetheless.

Maybe I should take up Dad's suggestion and run after all.
