"That's fine." Saga assures reeling slightly. She coughs once, then looks around and coughs again.

"Oh, I can't think of any other way to put it I just have to tell you. The Majority Whip, Senator Villanueva de Peña. She got attacked by the crowd..." she swallows.

"They put her in the hospital. We don't know if she'll make it...."

"The man has proven difficult to get a hold of" Simon says a bit frustrated "He's a good choice but I would like the pick to show they are eager and want the position."

"Agreed, if we start tackling trade however i'd like to have a Commerce Secretary. I'd also like to start more actively looking for an Education Secretary."

Cal nodded, and stood. "Good, then I think we're done for. Send Clement to the Oval and any suggestions if you have them, I have a speech to write."

With that, the President departed.

Laura Boyd, now a confirmed Secretary of the Treasury, had spent what time she'd had since the Senate vote preparing her offices at the Department she was to oversee and having her Chief of Staff recruit the sort of staff she'd requested, mostly from the Private sector. She'd resigned from the Carter-Boyd group and left her shares in the safe hands of the corporate management, and had John look to rent out the New York residence for the time being. Aware of the impossibility of residing in the family's Richmond home, she'd interned herself in a D.C. hotel for now and would make sure to get a permanent home in the city soon. Other than that, she had not had the brain space for anything not concerning her coming work.

She stepped out of the car at the White House lobby entrance and was shown in, finding herself by the President's Secretary within minutes to have her first formal meeting with the President.

"While your husband is away and mine is at the Naval Observatory it looks like there was a leadership failure."

Buck is up bright and early for the weekend meeting with the new Secretary of the Treasury and goes out for a short walk in Rock Creek Park before he comes over going by a familiar spot deep in thought. When he gets out of the armored limousine to come into the White House however he looks just the same as ever with energy that is younger than he is around his nicely suited body. He strolls through to the West Wing and Oval Office and enters the room only a minute or two before the secretary shows in the new Secretary. He has taken a seat on the couch but gets up to greet her answering a handshake.

"Madame Secretary, great to see you. Good first week on the job?" he asks.

"We are a little early, the President said he would be here soon and the Chief of Staff will show up when he shows up."

Laura offers him her hand and the two shake hands before they both take seats in opposite couches.

"It's quite a lot of work to do", she said, with honesty. She was used to the kind of pace the last week had entailed and was not over-worked, but she could admit that getting into heading the Treasury Department had kept her busy.

"I'm realizing that I've missed Washington," she went on to admit as well, and gave Havich a smile of reminiscence.

As the Chief of Staff entered, and congratulated her nonetheless, she nodded.

"Thank you Mr. Denisevich. I'm happy about joining the administration."

"Of course it was." Aubrey grumbled, thinking over the words. "Look, Saga, I appreciate you coming by and all, but now is not the right time. I just got the twins to sleep, whatever insanity is going on out there is going on. Let's just talk later." Aubrey didn't really appreciate her coming by, and didn't want to talk later, but wanted to get herself out of the situation, get a shotgun and some clays, and just wipe it all from her mind. With that option not exactly available in the present context, a scalding bath would have to do.

Cal entered the office a few minutes after the others had, and much less formally attired than he typically was since election, even in the residence. In place of the usual basic-black suit, pants, and tie, Cal was wearing a sable short-sleeved athletic top in apparent defiance of the remaining chill, baseball cap not removed from his head, light grey pants and long socks for the bottoms. He seemed rather chipper as he entered.

"Final check-ups to make sure I'm ready for the big throw Monday." he commented in explanation of his appearance, making a brief gesture that the cabinet members already present didn't need to rise from the couch as he made his own way behind the Resolute Desk, folding his hands on it as he sat.

"Good morning for everyone else?" he queried.
