"We have another issue with Congress" Simon says turning back to the President "I'm worried certain members are going to push an ultra-conservative agenda that will cost us a great deal of political capital and votes in upcoming elections. I honestly don't believe the Senate Majority Leader can handle them before they become a problem. POMA for instance."

"Exactly, we don't know the details of POMA which is unacceptable, the Senate Majority leader has no control or discipline it shouldn't hit the floor unless the leadership knows the content. If we were to try and take a crack at Roe v. Wade or Oberfell v. Hodges that needs to be highly coordinated, and frankly given the popularity of Oberfell I wouldn't recommend trying to take it down, not to mention a nullification crisis would follow. Senator Amaras and others are extreme and looking to please a base that does not reflect the country as a whole, and we cannot count on Winslow to stifle legislation that will hurt the party nationwide."

"Mr. President regardless of who is at fault for the current state of our relationship we get nowhere by fighting with them. We just need to remind them of the benefits of a good relationship with the white house and potential consequences of not being supportive. Which brings me to my next point, the 2017 races. We need to show the white house is willing to weigh in and show support for candidates, and the bump it will provide them if the white house supports them. Do a photo op with a candidate for office, dont even need to endorse them and it will provide a clear advantage, and we make it known privately that if you don't get a rubber stamp from the president come re-election just because you have an R next to your name."

Let the horses run free for a while, handle their own business, be their own little branch, while we make sure we've got everything tied together for this budget plan, then we go in. If they end up working well together, then we've got some good momentum, if they end up just self-destructing without guidance, then we have an even clearer popular mandate for our budget."

Cal paused, and went silent for a moment, some thought or other crossing his mind, then lingering in silence for a moment longer before he spoke again.

"My main worry is that legislation is going to hit your desk that will put you in a no win situation, id prefer to stop it while its still in congress. As for the Photo-Op we should start with Senator Carter from Ohio, he's out of leadership but still has a sizable following and is up for re-election in 2018. Let him know that the White House can be a friend come re-election or we can support a primary challenger."

I’d have to look at house seats more in depth but a few senators we could target off the top of my head are Winslow, Wilson, Breckinridge and Sunshine”

"Its on my phone hold on" Simon pulled out his phone and the list "Winslow, Williamson, McGareth, Locklear, Fowler, Lane, Senators from Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida though i couldnt get a hold of Hazelelponi, all the plains states minus Wilson because she will support the Dudley tax, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi... I have a few more calls to make but its looking positive on our side, likely to be party line though maybe Brankers will cross over."

"I went to a few Senators with a shortlist and asked about the potential nominees. Didn't say Boyd was a lock or anything but reaction was positive, I wanted to ask around before we met."
