"Yes it could be considered interference in foreign elections which is frowned upon in general and should the candidate you favor lose then it puts the President in a very awkward spot with the winner."

The President's mind was an occupied one as he stepped out of the Oval Office late that Saturday morning. The contents of two collections of reports, one from one of Rodham's underlings, the other from Jeffries, and their intersection, was one which held his thoughts captive in their significance, but a brief self-remembrance to check in on another matter had him taking the few strides to his Chief of Staff's office to ask before he forgot.

He rapped on the door with a simple sharp pair of taps of his fist to make himself known.

Simon opened the door and straighten up when he saw it was the President "Mr. President, how can I help you sir?"

"Sorry to interrupt-just something quick that I wanted to touch base on," he replied, stepping into the room, but not taking a seat.

"I don't know if you've had any involvement or not so far, but the Connecticut race, I wanted to see if you could check in with any of your party contacts, if that chance is there. I know you put together quite a machine there, and I just want to make sure it's still running for this special election, not that it needs to be any big involvement, but kicking the tires, at least. With this probe running, it should be enough of a window to take a few days if you needed to do a roll call, if that works."

"Of course, I just made a bunch of calls actually ahead of the First Lady's trip. I promise you we are putting everything we can behind Roberts, and we are going to get the VP there as much as possible. Do you have any interest in going yourself?"

I don't know exactly..." he went over to the door poked out his head and said to the nearest assistant "Carter Roberts Campaign headquarters, call them NOW" Simon then returned to the room and spoke to the secret service agent shadowing the president, "Radio in, get the head of the First Lady's detail on the line"
