Darnell rose from his seat again,

"My colleagues, what you have just witnessed is one of the Republicans trying to push forward a Supreme Court nominee to a vote with barely any debate held into this nomination. Yes we've held hearings, and yes we've talked about it on the Committee but we haven't had much debate on the floor about it, if any, that is."

"But let us forget about the gross lack of respect the Gentleman from Iowa has towards the procedure and customs of the Senate. Let us focus on the nominee, that is why we have time to debate it on the floor. Ms. Walker attended both Wake Forest University and Duke University School of Law, graduating summa cum laude and magna cum laude respectively. Looking good so far, right? I also thought that until I looked into her previous employment." He paused.

"The Alliance Defending Freedom states that it stands for 'advocating, training, and funding on the issues of religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family', this can not be further from the truth. The ADF is nothing but a hate group. This group actively promotes a homophobic, transphobic and sexist lifestyle. And can you guess who worked for this group? The current nominee to the Supreme Court of the United States."

"Can we really vote in the affirmative for a nominee that has worked for and supported such a hate group?" Darnell looked around the chamber at his colleagues. "Can we really allow ourselves to appoint someone to the Supreme Court that is who is about as qualified as Dr. Rossi?" He asked again.

"The American Bar Association position recommends a nominee to the federal bench should have 'a minimum of 12 years experience in the practice of law'. Ms. Walker graduated from Duke University School of Law School in 2007, but only in 2011 did she begin to practice law. In total, Ms. Walker has only practiced law privately for 6 years, that's half of the time the American Bar Association recommends."

"So here we are again. President Reed has seemed to nominate another inexperienced, homophobic, bigoted person to the Supreme Court. Only this time we got further than the hearings." Darnell said with a slight chuckle that quickly faded. "So I urge my fellow Senators, vote nay on this nomination. Let us show the American people that we can, and will, stand up to bigotry."

"Thank you, Mr. President." Darnell finishes sitting back into his chair.

Amaras stood, adjusting his suit, which seemed to be perpetually slightly ill-fitting, and smiled as he addressed the chamber.

"Fellow Senators, let's all put aside for a moment the blatant sexism of the Gentleman from Washington. It is true that he has a history of attacking and smearing strong, successful women, from our colleague Senator Villanueva de Peña, to Justice Alstaff, to participating in the vicious personal attacks and smear campaign against Dr. Rossi, designed to destroy her life, to today. Let's all set aside the fact that the Senator has voted against and opposed every female candidate nominated to the Supreme Court, so we can focus on the issues."

"The Senator from Washington is trying to tell us that religious freedom is radical and anyone who has worked with a group for religious liberty is a radical. What he doesn't realize is that he only proves how bigoted and radical he is, against religious freedom. The Alliance Defending Freedom has won every case it has made in front of the liberal biased Winston Supreme Court. Would a group that is radical win cases in front of liberal justices with a one hundred percent rate of success? It only shows how well that group defends Constitutional rights that their excellent lawyers can even succeed in front of a liberal court. Any Senator who says that the ADF is radical is simply showing bigotry against religious freedom."

"The Senator from Washington also reminds us how well qualified this nominee is. Even though she has spent less years practicing law than some others, she has been such an exemplary legal scholar that the left leaning American Bar Association has declared her qualified and given her their seal of approval. When even they admit how qualified this nominee is, you know we have an excellent choice."

"We can listen to the famous sexist from Washington whose legal experience is trying to declare Albert Winston not guilty, or we can vote for a wonderful and well qualified young woman to take her place on the Supreme Court, to follow the Constitution as it was written and reject Winston's unconstitutional legacy. What Senators in this chamber did to Dr. Rossi was revolting and shameful and we will not stand for another smear campaign by radicals against a bright and qualified young woman who will bring us back to following the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land, once again."

Amaras took his seat, pleased with the address, but ready for another opportunity.

Senator Kramer after listening to Senator Amaras's speech proceeded to adjust his tie before rising up to speak.

"My fellow Senators, I would like to echo the words of my colleague the Senator from Iowa and implore every Senator on this floor to vote in support of Ms. Walker." Senator Kramer said as he paused briefly before continuing.

"The Alliance Defending Freedom is an organisation which protects the societal family structure, something which I'm sure many of my fellow Senator's can agree with me has been a keystone that has supported the United States since its birth as a nation. Furthermore, regarding my good colleague the Senator from Washington's declaration of Dr. Rossi's bigotry I would have to remind him that such an accusation is easily disputed due to a number of the accusers being influenced into doing so."

"I conclude my speech by once more encouraging the Senate to vote in favour of Ms. Walker's confirmation and not allow partisanship to taint this hearing like it did the last one."

"Thank you Mr. President." Senator Kramer concluded before sitting back down.

Glen Anderson: Mr. Speaker I would like to submit the following bill.

Official Name:Government Waste Building Sales Act

Senator Sponsor: Peter Amaras
House Sponsor: Glen Anderson

Section 1: The United States government currently owns tens of thousands of buildings which it does not use and stand empty and wasted, draining taxpayer dollars to pay for water, electricity, and utilities. Selling off these buildings will save taxpayer money, create government revenue, and spur private investment and economic growth.

Section 2: Any government building which has, since April 1, 2016, not been in use, is declared "vacant".

Section 3: Defines a building as "in use" if employing at least five persons for a minimum of thirteen weeks over the previous year, or if used for actively maintained storage of federal goods, or for the residency of federal employees.

Section 4: Any building declared to be "vacant" must be, notwithstanding any other legislation pertaining to government sales, placed on the open market, allowing for open bids for ownership, and to be sold to the highest bidder after a period of three months.

Section 5: Any government building not receiving any bids for purchase after a period of one year shall be divested from federal ownership, with the property title freely available to any claimant. At this deadline, the government shall cease all provision of utilities, maintenance, or any other spending towards the building.

Section 6: Allows for the Secretary of Defense to request a one-year waiver from sales for any building vacant, but declared to have significant importance to national defense, to be approved by a majority vote of both chambers of Congress.

Section 7: The three-month period of Section 4 and the one-year period of Section 5 shall begin upon the passage of this bill.

Section 8: The management of the provisions of this act relating to the appraisal and sale of government buildings shall be the responsibility of the General Services Administration.

This bill is then honorably presented to (Insert which house) for consideration in order to limit excessive structures in owned by the federal government to improve the United States Law and is backed by Senator Peter Amaras and Congressman Glen Anderson on May 10th, 2017.

Quietly and without drawing attention, the Independent Senator from Massachusetts, who had been uncharacteristically silent and steadily thinner since the Rossi incident, began to correspond with the Junior Senator from Arizona through notes, his penmanship somewhat quick, but sloppy, the words on the notes legible enough to work with, but not more than that.

Gone was the gusto that would have once accompanied such writings, and in its place, there manifested a resigned discontentment that stretched beyond what was recognizable to any onlooker.
