Well you never know...That could happen...or the one that involves leading army of fish people against the mainland, I like the second option.

Why stop at fish people? Krakens, leviathans, giant crab monsters, sea serpents, and more could swarm the shores of the continent. I'm not sure how you'll damage airships though. Maybe with storm mages? Though that's not really Gulgia's domain.

Oh they will be disgusted because not all hodmiks are the same, there could be several different types of them. Some could be more human than fish some could be more fish than human, some could have tentacles as arms, some could have huge fish eyes. Either way they will be disgusted by the sight of them and the village of Stone's Throw Point I expect be burning to the ground once this is over.

Alright, so themes. I'm thinking this for my witcher, but I'm stuck for my mage. She's either getting High Priests or Witcher's Ritual Theme cause it's suitably magical.

Thoughts?

(Fill it out as requested.)
(Erase everything in parentheses when finishing the app)

Name: Basileon Gramatikos
Age: 60
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Race: Human
Appearance:(Image)

Position/Status/Affiliation: One of the 16 Patriarchs (Solaris) (Ecclesiarchy)
Skills/Powers//Magic: Brilliant Intellect, Political Influence
Equipment: Books, magic staff

Personality: Intelligent, pedantic, arrogant/self-righteous
Moral Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Biography: Basileon was born on the island of Katara. His family was staunchly pagan and opposed to the Church of the Sixteen. Basileon on the other hand was a curious lad and the lifestyle of piracy and savagery so inherent to the Katarans did not suit him. At the age of 16, he converted to the Faith of the Sixteen. He was promptly disowned by his family and his only family became Father Aquino, the missionary who had converted him in the first place. About a year after his conversion, Father Aquino departed Katara and he brought the young Basileon with him. Aquino and his young disciple returned to the Holy City and there, Basileon became awed by the majesty and beauty of the Church and its ceremonies and mysteries. Basileon who had previously been illiterate, was taught how to read by Aquino. Basileon learned to read and write very quickly and he devoured every book he could possibly get his hands on, at the Libraries and Archives of the Holy City. Basileon also gradually discovered he was very good at writing as much as reading.

At the age of 23, Basileon began to study at the Seminary to become a priest. He was ordained at the age of 26 (specifically devoted to Solaris). However, Basileon was not satisfied as a priest and so he continued his studies at the University and he came out of that becoming a professor. He lectured on Theology, History and Philosophy. Meanwhile, Auquino was rising through the Ecclesiastical ranks and always keeping a close eye on the career of his disciple. The Sixteen Patriarchs also began to take an interest in this fiery Katarian convert who seemed to excel so much in the Faith. However, there were some of the Patriarchs who viewed this foreigner as a threat. They wished to dismiss Basileon from the University and send him away. However, this was easier said than done as he was becoming one of the Church's most prolific and successful Theologians. His wisdom and knowledge was almost legendary and his position was unassailable as long as Aquino was able to protect him as Patriarch.

Then, Patriarch Aquino died. After the customary period of mourning, Basileon was summoned by the remaining Sixteen Patriarchs. They decided that he was to go on a missionary trip to his old homeland of Katara. Basileon was terrified of the prospect of going back, yet he grit his teeth and returned. Many of the people who once knew him were shocked and surprised to see him return. Many who had heard of his fame abroad, flocked to see him. Thousands of his people began to convert to the Faith of the Sixteen and abandon their paganism. His evangelism was so successful that the local chieftains got together and discussed how he might be murdered. They attempted to poison him, he did not succumb. They attempted to shoot him from afar with an arrow, the arrow missed. They attempted to have him stabbed. The would-be-assassin was struck down before they could kill him. Contrary to their aim, the chieftains were now strengthening the aura of mystery and power around this "Holy man". Therefore, the chieftains politely asked him to leave and gave him many gifts. He agreed and returned to the Holy City, taking some of his converts with him. In all, he remained in Katara for 7 years.

On his return to the Holy City, the Patriarch who had replaced Aquino, Patriarch Valentian, had died and a Conclave was being held to anoint his successor. At this time, the Church was in dire straits politically, as many were coming to see the Sixteen Patriarchs as corrupt and self-serving. It was necessary to show the lay people that the Church was still Holy and that the Patriarchs were still men of competence and holiness. Furthermore, hostilities with the Empire of Achiosia to the south were on the increase and it was necessary to solidify the people of the Ecclesiarchy behind the Church. These internal and external pressures pushed the Conclave to nominate Basileon as Patriarch, especially considering the fact that his reputation for wisdom and holiness had been further enhanced and improved because of his time in Katara.

In Basileon's 2nd year as Patriarch, the Great War amongst the Human Kingdoms began. Basileon's tenure as Patriarch began to change him. For the first time in his life, he began to taste luxury and power. These began to corrode the previous holiness within him, though his reputation for knowledge and wisdom remained, he began to succumb to the vices of the rich and mighty: gluttony, drunkenness and self-indulgence, although he knew well how to conceal those vices publicly. Despite his nomination as Patriarch (a title held for life) and despite his great reputation as a Theologian, a Scholar and a True Believer, he was still an outsider in the Conclave because of his Kataran ancestry. With the lay people, however, he was immensely popular and he used this to cement his position within the Conclave, often pushing for greater evangelization efforts and the construction of Schools and monasteries. Because of his devotion to Solaris and because of his popularity with the lay people, Basileon was able to stir up internal revolts within the Empire of Achiosia, even convincing many of their knights to defect.

After the War ended, Basileon spent most of his time reaching out to Katara. He began to train missionaries and priests in the Kataran tongue and he wrote Theological treatises from a Kataran cultural context, with the hope of converting his people to the Church. He began to give large "gifts" to the Kataran chieftains, hoping to convince him to allow the Church to build temples and monasteries on Katara. While some of the chieftains were induced by this offer, they were unable to follow through on their plans, as they were murdered by the local pagan priests and devotees. Basileon has been continuously trying to penetrate Katara, that they may accept the Church, but to no avail, not yet, anyways.
Goals: Extend the power of the Ecclesiarchy

Character Application

Name: Captain Petaine de l’Clarifont.

Age: Twenty-Seven.

Gender: Male.

Sexual Orientation: Straight.

Race: Human, Duivene.

Appearance: As per reqeust. He’s around 5’11, twelve-stone and eleven pounds or about 80ish Kilos, I think.

Position/Status/Affiliation: He’s a renowned Man-At-Arms for the Kingdom of Duivene, had this been Medieval Europe, he’d most likely be considered an unlanded Knight, however in this world, he doesn’t align himself with any particular Knightly order and is merely a talented and loyal fighter of Duivene. As such, he’s regularly granted minor commands over troops - whether it be leading a small segment of a larger army, or taking up assignments to deal with lesser threats, for example - commanding a town’s garrison against bandits or slavers. His status originally coming from the fact that he’s the younger brother of a landed nobleman, but his recognition garnered from his own abilities.

Skills/Powers//Magic: He’s an exceptionally talented swordsman, tracker and horse-rider, but lacks any real magical talent - not because he’s totally unable and lacks a magical mind, but due to a lack of exposure to the magical learning process and interest in the field. His swordsmanship however has been forged throughout his life, picking up his first training sword at only twelve years old, sparring with his brothers and father whatever opportunity he could get.

Equipment: He keeps with him a finely crafted steel long-sword with a V shaped hilt/cross-guard, a similarly designed steel dagger and a full set of plate-armour, underlined with a thick boiled leather padding and a set of chainmail. Though rarely if ever does he wear the full set of plate, when not in a full-scale battlefield. In addition, he wears a thin cloth tabard with a fur-pelt strapped to his shoulder, as to make him stand-out more when on the battlefield.

Personality: (The life blood of a character. I know that people don't like to write lengthy paragraphs about a character's personality, but include at least a small description.)

Moral Alignment: Lawful-Neutral.

Biography: Born as the youngest of seven, to a minor member of the Duivenne Nobility, there were certain expectations of the young Petaine. He received a formal and well paid for education along with his youngest sister, who was only a half year younger than him and was taught how to properly wield a sword at only twelve years of age. In his youth he showed an aptitude for mathematics and strategy - often enjoying games of chess or checkers with his elder siblings, and on occasion his parents or their siblings. And of his family members, he proved the most apt in these fields, often, for lack of a better word, steamrolling his siblings in such games or even whilst sparring, nearly breaking his eldest brother’s arm in one training session, a few days after his seventeenth birthday.

However, the meaty and most significant moments of his life came far more recently than then - during the War of the Seven Nations, in which he lead his family’s retainers to glory time and time again, alongside his siblings and father. Gaining a reputation as a valiant and brave warrior and field commander. Having always volunteered to lead vanguard actions and to try and rally their forces against the enemy in dire straits. He’s even said to have during one field-battle to have personally saved the lives of over a dozen of his countrymen by leading a counterattack against overwhelming enemy forces to relieve them. The men who served alongside him and some of the nobles who witnessed his behaviour throughout the war tended to note him down as, “A peasant in nobleman’s clothes” and as “A true pillar of humility.” As rather than sit in the large feasting tents or command tents at night, he’d sit himself with the footmen and regulars, sharing his food and drink with them, along with their tales of glory on the battlefield. Which did wonders for the men’s morale, particularly in the latter days of the war, when they’d been fighting and on campaign for so long - to see one of their superiors acknowledge them as people and to sit with them, no doubt raising spirits. But his greatest achievement was at the very end of the war, when his father dispatched him and thirty riders to relieve the garrison at a nearby village - believing that the enemy were preparing a ‘minor’ raid. When he arrived and began making preparations for the old garrison to depart and started re-arranging the local peasant levy, some scouts returned with news - the enemy hadn’t been as small in numbers as they’d anticipated, and a force of around a hundred and fifty men approached. With him only having forty trained men at hand and some two dozen armed militiamen, he quickly arranged a defense. Baiting the enemy into the town’s centre with a slow and disciplined retreat by the experienced forces before commanding an ambush by the militia from the narrow alleys of the village - encapsulating the larger enemy force before totally annihilating it, sending three ‘living’ enemy combatants back to his father as prisoners to explain what’d happened.

Following the war’s end, he received some minor recognitions and acknowledgements for his displays of martial prowess and was elevated to a Captain in the Duivene military and has slipped into reserve, awaiting to be called upon once more, should the nation find itself besieged by enemies, or should it ride out to deal justice to its foes.

Goals: Petaine’s goals are incredibly ambitious, yet flexible - he simply desires to build his own legacy and to stand out - not to be shrouded in the shadow of his elder siblings who had status merely handed to them. Whether it to go down as one of the greatest military leaders in his nation’s history, to earn a noble title of his own and to rule as a governor. Or merely to go down in the annals of history as a national hero. The dreams of all young men. Only, perhaps - it’s possible that his could come true, in these dark and dire times.

Theme Song: Theme song, I think it’s fitting given his goals.

RP Sample: My most recent example.

Did you read the Rules?: I did indeed, I did indeed. I’ll try not to be a prick.

Well that should still be fine. He can just dodge and keep his distance until they cut their way over to him, which should be easy enough now that most of the undead in the immediate vicinity are dead. If you've played any of the recent monster hunter games, think insect glaive in terms of movement.

Skills/Powers//Magic: She's an expert sailor and navigator, is decent with a sword but her greatest skill is that she's sneaky. She can talk her way out of most things and slip in and out like a ghost.
Equipment: Cutlass, a pair of pistols, three daggers, some money and a backpack a map and a few essentials.

Personality: Doc is a true pirate, her motto is "Take what you can, give nothing back." Freedom, sailing and plunder is something she lives for. She will just as easily steal your wallet as she will save you from a monster. She likes to analyze situations and plan for them accordingly rather than charge in without any sort of plan. In fact when she doesn't have a plan and no time to make one she's kind of lost. She's not really good at doing things on the fly and resents changes from her formulated plan. Ruthless in battle, she is nonetheless not without scruples, and makes it a point never to harm children. She is fiercely loyal to her crew and family and will do whatever it takes to protect them.
Moral Alignment: True Neutral
Biography: Eudoxia Ariana Upshaw was born to Edward Upshaw Jr, known on the seas as Captain Shaw. Captain Shaw himself is the son of Edward Upshaw Sr, whom was one of the most famous and feared pirates to ever sail the ocean, some started calling him a Pirate Lord. He was known as the Red Dragon because of his auburn hair, ferocity and russet brown skin. Her mother, Ariana Upshaw is also a pirate, not a captain herself however she was a crewmate and longtime friend of the Upshaws, and a deadly swordswoman. Her silvery blonde hair would suggest that perhaps she was of Achisian royal stock, maybe some bastard offbranch of the royal family before the slaughter, but these rumors are unfounded. They fell in love, married and Eudoxia was born on their ship, the Death's Head during a summer storm. Her name means "good deeds", ironic for a pirate's child. Called Doxia or Doxie as a little girl, the name was eventually shortened to Doc. She was raised by her parents and her formidable grandfather, whom has a huge influence on her life and with whom she shares a very close relationship. When not on a boat she was at her family's hideout, and her grandfather wanted to raise her as a pirate from an early age. Her parents were not so sure, but all three of them agreed to let her decide her own path. Doc knew from an early age that she wanted to be like her family and took to the pirate's life with relish. Not as good at swords as her mother, she was decent with a blade in her hand. The wars were a time of greatness for pirates, the nations so busy fighting each other rather than protecting themselves made for easy plunder and quite a bit of action. Her crew is traveling around the world at the moment, sailing and stopping where they choose, following the trade winds. A guest aboard their crew is Bartholomew Findlay Jr, known as Barty, the son of another prominent pirate captain and Doc's ex boyfriend. The two still remain good friends despite them breaking up although they do bicker. Expect them to have each other's backs, even though they date others there may be some residual feelings there. Nobody knows what port they'll stop in next, but whatever it is, Doc is looking forward to the adventure.
Goals: To be the biggest baddest pirate on the seas, to be captain of her own fleet, continue her family's legacy, have her own hideout/island and maybe even one day train younger pirates in a school of sorts when she retires a rich and powerful captain.
