Personal History/Bio: The second of three children and youngest son of a British diplomat, Gerald Saunders was born in Berlin during his father's posting there and spent his childhood following his father to various Continental diplomatic postings: Berlin, Paris, St. Petersburg. When various revolutions eventually made being in St. Petersburg a bad idea, the elder Saunders and his family were recalled home, where young Gerald was promptly enrolled in (and almost equally promptly expelled from) a series of public schools before finally maintaining a steady enrollment at Brighton College. After graduating from Brighton, he (surprisingly) obtained an appointment to Sandhurst; though not an outstanding cadet, he (equally surprisingly) managed to avoid being court-martialed or expelled, and after passing out was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the 1st Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey).
Most of his military career was spent with his battalion in the Far East, where his experience consisted of, in his own words, "drilling troops, drinking liquor, swatting flies, haggling with merchants, exploiting laborers, punching sailors, viewing Japanese troops with suspicion, and occasionally visiting opium dens...".
After his commission was transferred to the Supplementary Reserve list, Saunders was approached by the Secret Intelligent Service, who sought to recruit him based on his knowledge of various cultures and languages, the numerous foreign contacts he had, and his renowned ability to charm everyone who crossed his path. Saunders accepted their offer, and spent the remainder of the interwar years as "Passport Control Officer" at the British Embassies in Moscow, Tokyo, and Berlin; during these assignments, he demonstrated an excellent ability in assembling and operating rings of informants.
At the outbreak of the war, Saunders was recalled to London and mobilized; however, the 3rd Queen's Royal Regiment was a battalion that existed solely on a sheet of paper in the War Office, so the Army simply decided to maintain the status quo and assigned him the SIS as a liaison officer. With his rings of informants mostly cut off from contact and his Army superiors remembering his penchant for making trouble, Saunders was soon transferred to Section D, where he was tasked with helping to assemble a military unit to carry out covert operations against the Germans.

Speaking of, any chance of stealing a page from Naval 10 Squadron and giving themed names to the aircraft in each flight?
You guys could do it. I have a massive repository of potential plane names I've come up with over the months anyways; so maybe some of them could be repurposed.

Nah. I just forgot to address that part. I can edit it later on after I get back from running errands. I was fighting back sleep when I posted.
