I'd like more defensive weapons but seeing as how Blue Sky is selling offensive weapons to Texas, I'm not sure how effective that could be.

What are defensive weapons?

Plenty of ground-to-air missiles that stand even odds of knocking even scramjets out of the sky. Properly improved warning systems could also do good things. Or, match them plane for plane. Or get your hands on some good scuddrunning ground-to-grounds, or kinetic artillery. Those could wreck plenty of fighters on the ground quite elegantly with the right usage.
