I'm thinking of starting the end of Anasazi by having the Atomicists grow in power, procure nuclear/biological/chemical weapons and unleash terror on the Anasazi in an effort to secure Atomic dominance. Then other rebel factions also rise from the ashes and clash. AnComs fighting AnCaps. Liberals vs Conservatives. Commies vs people who aren't brain damaged Capitalists. Fascists vs Minorities. White Supremacists vs Black Supremacists.
