I don't believe so. It hasn't been clarified.

Florida's population would have a population of more than 34 million.
Right, seems in place with online projections. Florida is separated from Texas by Alabama and Mississippi which means getting troops, supplies, and manpower from Florida to Texas is going to be a bit difficult. That leaves about 46 million Texans against 150 million of Mexico Plus whatever Latinos support Mexico.

Tbf, those are modern figures.
Society falling apart might have involved some serious casualties. Ditto war.

Not really. You see, there is a limit to the number of people an economy can support and it is usually no more than 3% perform you start suffering economic consequences. Your draft base is 17-35 in most cases, which is also the majority of your prime workforce. You start drafting even small percentages of that, you start to see workforce shortages. Additionally, only about 20-30% of your population is draftable and most of those will end up washing out of recruit training due to the physical and psychological demands.

Texas is practically a country already. It would probably fare pretty well. Same with California. Most of the rest of the country is fucked.

Eh, not really. Texas is pretty inextricably linked in with the rest of the country; hell, even if it weren't a state, most of the entire world would go tits up if the U.S. economy and political system just collapsed. Between refugees stretching resources, reactions against the movement of refugees, political warfare, resource warfare, the loss of international trade... nobody is going to be sitting pretty with no major losses, even if we're talking about, say, Iceland. The world is just too interconnected these days.

Actually, economically speaking, Texas is rather independent from the rest of the country. Sure the first 20 or 30 years are gonna be a bitch but overall Texas will do fairly well. By now if figure most of the world is starting to stabilize and trade is picking up again.

In saying my draft pool and labor manpower are larger than Texas' because I have a larger population.

How will Texas handle all the refugees from less fortunate states swarming across their borders looking for a slice of that relative prosperity?
