6. If the initial invasion is successful, we get our troops behind enemy lines to harass the enemy, and try to link up with the beachhead troops, who will most likely also be pushing, now with armoured support
7. The 2 link up, and sweep across the rest of DC, and put down any remaining resistance

But we could get some artillery via Virginia to Arlington National Cemetary to shell them from the hill there. Or lay siege so we don't damage any major buildings.

Oh, that won't be a problem. Our Navy is quite capable, more so than yours, and anything immediately will be in the hands of the Army already in service, which will mostly begin the Texas/Mexican area. Then the letter you just sent us is going to set all kinds of alarms off.
