Panamericana
A Crime RP
IC

A room lay dormant, maids carrying buckets of red water out of a room on the top floor of the Panamericana. Outside the blood stained window the sight of a cloudy tropical beech gave a paradoxical look to the dark and red tinged room. Violence wasn't uncommon for the Panamericana, the Mob had deep roots running through the Casino and Hotel. But this time things were different. This time it was a Mobster who died, Leo Cirofici was a dead man. Nothing looked out of place, the room was as it was before the murder. The only difference being the human corpse laying in the middle of the floor bludgeoned to death, his head nothing but a mash of blood, flesh, and bone that was scattered all across the immediate area.

Everyone was put on edge, the mob wants whoever did this dead, the owners want the tourism to stay constant. A cover up was planed. They scrub down the room, find what they need to track down whoever did this and rent out the room to only the wealthiest of patrons. The small town o La Fe in western Cuba housed this remarkable den of sin and degeneracy. La Fe means The Faith in Spanish, the Panamericana made sure it pissed of the values of faith everyday it was open. The residents were all fearful, or at least the native ones were. Revolutionaries had just beaten Army forces at Guisa. While that was on the other side of the country it still signaled to them the possible destruction of the world as they knew it if things were to escalate. But for the thuggish and rich of the first world the Island was nothing but their playground. Drugs, Jazz, and sex were common for most outside of the usual gambling.

Things were on a collision course for change, wether it be the murder of a mobster, or the communist rebellion in the south. Things were set to change. Now the only question was how long until this wind reached the Panamericana? Would it be a soft, gentle breeze that moved things over time? Or would it be a violent gale throwing everything out of its way? Only time could tell the outcome.

But until then, enjoy a Mojito and a game of Black Jack.

The year is 1958, you are a patron of the Panamericana Casino and Horel located in the quant little town of La Fe in Cuba's Sandino region. Your reasons for being in the place are your own. Rich socialites looking to be seen in a location of new age sophistication, money hungry gamblers on a quest for fortune, Mobsters looking to figure out what happened to your friend (or enemy), maybe you're just a local boy employeed to serve drinks to the patrons? It doesn't matter, we're all here and we're all destined to be part of a similar fate.

A violent murder looms in the air. Are more to come? Who's next? Are you even concerned or aware of what's happened in Suite 12? Only you can determine these, yet no matter what your time here in the Panamericana will shape the rest of your existence.

Rules

1: Keep things period accurate, I don't really care if you can emulate the slang of a 50's mobster but please don't have your guy walking around with an AR-15 and Glock 17.
2: Keep things realistic, it's an RP, we can streatch the truth a bit for dramatic effect, but your character can not be super man nor can he take the same amount of damage as he can. Give your character realistic limits.
3: Be respectful, last thing anyone wants is unneeded stress and tension in the OOC, if you've got a problem with someone take it to TG's or else I will use my authority as OP as I see fit.
4: As always, General NS rules apply and of you're not familiar with them I suggest you do before posting.
5: If you want something special for your character, a position of power, strange abilities, ask me first or your application will be denied.
6: Lastly, and I know this is cliched, But have fun. After all I'm sure that's why a whole lot of us do RPing in the first place.

On that note, I've got the IC finished as well so once we get about 4 people in I'll throw that up so we can get straight into this.

Name: Tolomeo Brandi
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Origin: Baltimore, Maryland, USA
Description:
Standing 5’6”, unsurprisingly average, Tolomeo’s body style is close to what one might expect from his mentally lackadaisical lifestyle. Wiry with musculature, his caucasian skin has been turned to less caucasian by what seems to be a permanent tan, his light diet leading to an end weight of 164 Lbs. His blond hair is kept a bit longer than the norm, or at least the military norm, and is naturally chaotic. Light blue eyes end this overall image that, were his skin to not be so Italian, would lead to some trouble with the local Jewish community.

His choice of clothing is well-affected by the styles of the forties, with black or gray suits, white collar shirts, and black, silk ties. This is, of course, his style for business and not for pleasure in any case. Whenever not on work, he prefers to wear shorts for the beach, sandals, light shirts.
Personality:
Used to separating work from play, he enjoys the great joy that is called “Duplicity”. While at work, he does not really deal with emotions; hard things must be done at hard times and that is completely fine. It helps that most people he deals with, while at work, have gotten into their own situations of their own violations. As such, in Tolomeo’s mind, they are much like combatants in war. They have bought into their own places. While not at work, he enjoys life, though is adamantly against drugs. That’s not to say he is unrestrained, but it would be wrong to say that he doesn’t care for everything.
Bio:
Born in New York, New York in 1921, Tolomeo’s early life was as one might expect during the Great Depression. Food was nowhere, work was nowhere, and his parents could barely afford to keep him. He still remembers the clashes they had; his mother felt it better, at times, to send him to her sister’s, just so they could get back up. His father had been a stockbroker before the massive crash, and God did he fall to earth when everything went. He went to work on the docks, always, to try and pay-off the heating bill, to try and buy food. Sometimes they had some bread, just some bread. It was never good.

When Roosevelt became President in 1933, he was twelve and it didn’t seem to be much better. His dad would go-off, with the New Deal, off to build bridges in forests and make roads. Off to do whatever one did then; Tolomeo paid some
attention, event attempting to go with him and trying to lie about his age so they might take him along. They saw-through his ameteur attempts, though, and so the young kid stayed in Baltimore. He would help with collecting scrap, at times,
    something that was done seldom.

Then the war started. Nineteen Forty-One, the day that will live in infamy, the day that Tolomeo was old enough, just old enough, to go-off and join. He’d never given massive thought to the military, but the Draft came to the US and off Tolomeo went. He joined the Army with the 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, going through the war, participating in such actions as Operation Torch, the battle for Ventotene, fighting in Italy and Southern France along with at the Bulge. Tolomeo would end the war with three combat jumps.

After the war, Tolomeo would take his pension back to the US, working with steel and the like in the Detroit factories. He’d do this for a good few years, oddly enough not starting a family, before a buddy of his at the factory wanted to go and take a vacation in South America. Tolomeo was invited along because, as the buddy said, he already had the tan and needed to see it for himself. He’d go down to South America, down where the sun shone and the people were friendly, and after a bit, would decide to not come back. He’d live in Caracas for a time, until 1950, practicing a small fishing trade, as he called it. Tolomeo knew only a few general things on fishing, more often just going-along with mates to provide some muscle and catching rays, along with but a few illegal times. It was a great time, in his opinion, and overall the guy had fun. There was only a singular incident, where a Venezuelan Police Officer came-upon them loading a few crates bound for the US. That story ended with them dumping his body in the ocean, sending his car to a scrapyard that asked no questions, and Tolomeo gaining a new gun. He eventually met a few other veterans, US Army guys who invited him to La Fe, Cuba, and Tolomeo would go along.

While at La Fe and enjoying the casino there, he would be approached by the Mafia for a few reasons. For one thing, they disliked his fishing, wanting to use it for shipping money from Cuba into the US. At least, that was the gist of it. The money they offered made a powerful argument to Tolomeo. The guns and insinuations they had were just as powerful. It was either him not operating the fishing, giving-over his small vessel to them, or him working for the guys. Tolomeo chose the first option, though the Mafia was nice enough to give him a few hundred for the boat to at least make it look like they were purchasing.

He’d continue staying, at the very least for the sun, before falling into interest with one of the casino girls, a Virginia Montreal from Venezuela. It started with just a little bit of flirting...before ending in a bed on the first day of them knowing one-another. Needless to state, things went fast in Cuba and things went fast in casinos definitely. They’d go steady for some time and, for obvious reasons, Virginia was involved with the Mafia who owned the casino. Through affiliation, Tolomeo would be threatened that, if he ever did her wrong, he’d discover precisely how a throat is slit. She had very protective friends, you see. It would be these friends who would approach the guy, asking whether or not he wanted to make a good bit more money guarding some shipments. This would lead into asking on him working at the casino, as a guard, before then being brought-on fully, officially, as an enforcer. He broke it up with Virginia between these events, mind, though at her request. Now, he does what they ask for steady pay.

Whatever pays the bills pays the bills, after all.

Name: Donny Krichenko
Age: 30
Origin: Dallas, Texas
Description: 5'11, 154 lbs. Green eyes. Long, unkempt brown hair and beard. Several tattoos. Favors right leg with a slight limp. Dresses simply, often wears his patch.
Personality: Thin temper, prone to violence. Otherwise cautious, generally reserved in public. Loyal, intelligent hedonist. Wise-ass.
Personal Belongings: MC Patch. Various clothes. Boots. Hatchet. Whiskey flask. Speed. Marijuana. M1 Garand. .45 revolver. Tobacco, papers. 1956 Harley Davidson KHK.
Bio:
Donovan Krichenko was born on January 3rd, 1929 in Dallas, Texas. A delinquent, he spent his youth in and out of various boy's homes for petty crimes such as theft and vandalism. By 1945, Donovan found himself at odds with the state of Texas and even his family, so he stole the family car and eventually found his way to California.

It was here that Donovan's criminal career began to blossom. He found a place among the outcasts of society, bikers and veterans of the Great War. A prodigy of sorts, he robbed liqour stores and muled amphetamines as favors to his friends before becoming involved in serious distribution.

Donovan was among the first Hell's Angels out of California, joining officially in 1950 at the age of 21. He had earned a reputation as a ruthless purveyor of sin and vice. He was nicknamed "Pink", short for Pinko, due to his unkempt appearance and unsavory lifestyle. Things were going smoothly for the young outlaw until 1952 when he was fingered for a double homicide in Texas. The victims were an elderly couple, Nadya and Victor Krichenko-- Donovan's parents.

The truth of the murder is that Donovan was framed by a few high ranking members of his own club, jealous of the young man's criminal success and fearing for their own positions in the Hell's Angels. Forced on the run, Donovan finally escaped the country, and began settling down in Cuba in 1958.

After seeing your RP samples and your explanation of your nation situation I'm more open to your app. But I'd like to know what 30-.06 semi-automatic rifle he has. Also I'd like to know how he plays into the going one of a mob ruled Casino in Cuba that's known for impeccable luxury and heathenry?

Im open to suggestions, but Donny was quite well plugged into the drug trade in the states. Maybe he sells for the Mob, less lucrative than when he was home but low key and sutainable. At the end of the bio I gave some detail as to how he came to reside in Cuba.

Oh and the rifle is a Springfield. I think they were military issued? Not sure. Picked it because he hung around vets. But yeh. Springfield.

I'm not into guns, my mistake. Have any suggestions for semi automatic rifles produced between 1945 and 1959?

30-06 Springfield is only, in semi-auto terms, used in the M1 Garand.

Here are some other semi-auto guns you could use:
Browning 22 Semi-Auto rifle
General Liu rifle
Winchester Model 1905
Winchester Model 1910
vz. 52 rifle

Thanks for the help. OP, I think i'm gonna go with an M1 Garand. I wanted something standard issue military used in WWII. I'll tweak the items in my app once you get a look at this.

Torn between a WW2 veteran who moved to Cuba for some reason or a good 'ol boy who wanted to make it rich who got into debt...
If anyone askes where we were Saturday at 14:30, we were at The Pub, understand?

-If it's stupid, but it works, it ain't stupid.
-No Combat Ready unit has ever passed inspection.
-No Inspection Ready unit has ever passed combat.
-There is nothing more satisfying to you then having the enemy shoot at you, and miss.
-Remember, your weapon was made by the lowest bidder.

I was thinking either a grizzled Marine Corps sergeant or a draftee that survived D-Day.

I think you'd get along with the draftee better

Name: Ethan Blackburn
Age: 35
Origin: Kelowna, Canada
Description: 6'3 (190 cm), 178 lbs (81 kg). Multiple smaller scars across his body.
Personality: Retracted, stoic, and well-mannered. Ethan doesn't talk much, nor does he ask too many questions. Most of his time is spent in the Hotel's bar, drinking his troubles away, or really taking any jobs that anyone needs done.
Personal Belongings:
  • FN C1 Rifle
  • Browning P35
  • DSO Medal
  • 1939 Pattern LBV
  • Passport
Bio: Born in Kelowna, Canada in 1922, Ethan was the son of a ranch hand, and spent most of his time around or with livestock, tending to them or generally just enjoying the silence they gave. Academically, Ethan was average, neither excelling nor lacking. Considering his upbringing it was abnormal that he didn't srop out of school early, but perhaps it was a good thing. Less than three months after his graduation, he got the opportunity of a life time.

September 10th 1939, Canada declared war on Nazi Germany. Ethan signed on in Vancouver, altering the course of his life.

For the next six years Ethan would serve in Europe, with Princes Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, 2nd Battalion. Cutting his teeth in Operation Husky, the Moro River Campaign, and Monte Cassino, before being re-routed north through Normandy and into the Netherlands, participating in liberation of the coastal nation. It was here that he learned of the horrors behind the scenes of the war. And it was here that he felt fully justified in killing so many.

After the war, he returned home to Canada, becoming a reservist in the Army, working at the ranch his family had been involved in for so long. His job at the ranch was steady, and while it was a good job his heart still yearned for something.

In 1950 he learned just what it was he wanted. Once again he answered the call of duty, signing on with his old unit, and shipping off to the Korean peninsula, this time as a rather decorated and respected NCO. He served a full 3 years in the war, participating in the Battle for Kapyong Valley, surviving the might of an entire Chinese division for over 12 hours.

After the war Ethan returned to Canada, heart still yearning for war, despite the horrors he'd seen and experienced. He would remain in the Canadian Army until 1955, before buying his service weapon, and wandering the developing world, eventually landing in Cuba, with no real plan in his life anymore.

"What we did in Europe was save people, we had purpose. They had human beings stuffed into boxes and smothered, turned their lungs inside out before turning them into lampshades and ash. That was our purpose, stop the Fascist monsters that were systematically killing whole neighborhoods of people. But Korea... In Korea, there was no definitive group of monsters. Just two beasts fighting over the remains of a tattered and breaking nation, Korea was a war where no lives were saved. We killed more than would've died if we left well enough alone."

Name: Aleksandra "Sasha" Victorovna
Age: 32
Origin: Kuybyshev, RSFSR
Description: 5'5 (165cm), 132 lbs (59 kg)
Personality: Quiet, observant, and with a penchant for guessing what makes people tick, Sasha is just as quiet and reserved as most bar frequenters.
Personal Belongings:
  • PPSh-41
  • M91/30 PU
  • Passport
  • Order of the Red Star
  • Order of Glory 2nd Class
Bio: Born in the rural parts of the RSFSR, Sasha was the sixth of a family that eventually had 12 children. Her early life was spent learning the woman's trade in Russia. Learning to cook, clean, and keep the house while the men were out and about doing whatever it was they needed to do. As such she had nearly no academic skills outside learning to read and write.

That was until 1941. When the Soviet Union started reeling from Operation Barbarossa. It was then she walked to the front line, determined to do more with her life than sit on a stool and scrub muddy pants.

Given a scoped rifle, she was dumped into Stalingrad with two goals: Kill, and survive. And that she did, roaming from unit to unit, she supported Soviet advances and attacks where she could, eventually racking up 87 kills to her name in the Battle for Stalingrad alone. For this she was given the Order of Glory. It also gifted her with the haunting memories of 'surviving'.

She would continue to serve in the Red Army, from the the Volga River to Berlin, she became an artist of war. Finding out of place colors, unnatural shapes, odd angles and the like, before shooting them and adding a touch of red to the scene. At the end of the war, she had a total of 126 kills to her name, and a whole slurry of skeletons in her closet.

Fearing the life of a 'genuine woman' Sasha remained in the army for a rather long time frame, eventually she was awarded for 15 years of service in 1955. The Order of the Red Star was the last decoration she received for the Soviet Union. Not to long after the ceremony, she took her rifle, her back up, and went to Cuba, looking for a difference in scenery. But instead all she found were haunting remnants of her past given new shapes. With no other skills to guide her, she became a soldier of fortune, killing for money. Better than washing dishes and stitching.

"You will know war when a single moment gives you nightmares for the rest of your life. On one hand, you let a whole platoon of your comrades die from artillery or mortars. On the other, you shoot a pubescent child with a radio and a map. Either you get discovered by a Fascist patrol, raped for hours before being killed. Or you smother a crying infant in his dead mother's grip. In one hand a bottle of pills that will drop you into a 9 hour coma, restless, but dreamless. In the other, a gun, a permanent solution to the nightmares, the pills, and the memories. Choices make everything, and some people can't decide."

Winchester Model 1910
vz. 52 rifle

Yeah he's not using the vz. 52 or the General Liu. The other three are alright. That said it wouldn't be out of place for him to have a submachine gun if he wanted to replace it.
