I also haven't decided whether or not to have the situation devolve into Civil War. Emperor Basil may escape his captivity and rally his forces somewhere else. What do you guys think I should do? Which side would you back?

Generally, the Emperor was specifically pro-Russian. But nothing is stopping the rebels from being pro-Russian as well. The difference in attitude is likely to be towards Germany. The Emperor is pro-German while the rebels are anti-German.

Then, I guess we would wait and see to which side the rebels fell. However, we would probably generally support the Rebels, over the emperor, unless the rebels took a hard anti-Russia slant.

I cant really see Greece enjoying the Russians more than the Germans considering they were basically a german puppet for roughly 50 years and are still really close friends with them. If anything, I could see either a rouge state happening, or something else entirely.
