The year is 2938 B.C. - Sixty two years ago, the next five thousand years of human history were fo ever changed with the arrival of men and women from the far future: The Authors. The Authors were average men and women from the year 2016 swept up by unknown and supernatural forces to be sent back five millenia, and granted timelessness, the immunity to age that all men crave. With knowledge of the distant future, the more apt and adaptable Authors used their ability and their wits to craft for themselves a new life in this time long forgotten. As the decades have progressed, the primitive villages which they once inhabited have now become civilizations in their own right, villages and cities and kingdoms who know the heartbeat of progress and power. These civilizations were the product not of the organic and natural flow of time, but by the intervention of the Authors - New Civilizations in truth. This is not human history as we know it, this is the new history - formed by immortal, yet very human men. The story has been changed, in 5,000 years time, what will the history books say - who shall be its Authors?
The sun weaves and spins in its place, as it has always done, looking down on a world in some ways very similar to what would have been, and in some ways very different. Across Asia, Africa, South America, the wheel of time crawls onwards as it would have done otherwise- tribe fights tribe, man plants seed in hard earth, and births and deaths in their countless thousands make up the march of human history. Elsewhere though, the weft of the fabric of years is much changed. Viking explorers worshiping strange gods ply the waters of the Baltic Seas four thousand years before their time, hardy souls riding longships of cunning make under the command of a feudal king. Farther south, in the interior of Europe, a mighty Imperium stretches from the Adriatic Sea to the Black, even as far north as the marches of Germania. Her people march under banners of black and white, forged implements of steel in their hands and a creed foreign to this time and place on their lips and graven upon their hearts, directed by the inscrutable hand of the so-called Emperor of Man and his progeny.
And in fair Scythia, removed from the Europe that is now peopled and turned to the profit of tiered cities, traders hawk goods from West and East in cities with tall churches and olive-skinned merchants. In to this world you have now come, a man or woman cast adrift in the currents of the years, sundered from all you have known and loved but in possession of burning knowledge and purpose which is alien to the world that once was. What legacy shall you set in stone for all time? Will you be a conqueror? A builder? A prophet? Come, brave Author, and set your pen to the pages of the history of the New Civilizations.
