A guy who went to my school died in a car accident last night. He missed a turn and made a hard right, but his car was going too fast and it began to skid everywhere until it hit a curb and rolled a time or two. He was ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene. He's been around ever since I was a little kid and even though I didn't like him very much, a lot of people did.

It sucks seeing someone go like that.

Connecticut was one of the leading liberal states on the issue, and New London is fairly liberal, but in the mid-nineties support for same-sex marriage in the state was hovering around 2-1 against. His pro-gay efforts as principal would be pretty controversial in the community.

As a second-termer without much political capital or name rec, it seems a little doubtful that he could co-author something as huge as the post-Sandy Hook laws.

Would Denis's machine have let the AgroSTEM bill written by a Green through?

If he had done the pro gay stuff in the early 2000s, at the end of his tenure, it would certainly have been ok. And it was anti-discrimination, not necessarily even pro gay marriage.

In real life, some two term congressmen from both parties co-authored the massive gun control packages. John Shaban comes to mind. Democratic leadership would certainly tap someone like O'Brien, especially, since he is an educator. They used similar strategies.

In CT the GOP is actually largely in favor of Agro-STEM spending.

I don't really think Liberty County is going to have the population density that you need to support a new gun shop. Most of the gun stores are farther south, but you wouldn't really be expecting people to go trekking out nowhere to make purchases, especially since you wouldn't really have advertising, or any decent thru traffic.

I'm honestly not 100% sure about men being council leaders for the Girl Scouts, I don't think it's barred, since they can be troop leaders, but at least at that young an age it doesn't seem too likely

The 7th district used to be over on the NE coast, a good hundred and fifty miles away. He carpetbagged?

That’s not his weakness. His weakness is that he isn’t overzealous, that he’s too ready to throw people in jail or procecute. He only got confirmed because his public record was so good, and Members of Congress with real concerns couldn’t vote against in large numbers due to it looking like obstruction.
