They were rather open in expressing support for resistance groups during the Arab Spring, and each of the nations that had severed ties have all been theocracies - notably staunchly orthodox ones at that.

Egypt would seem to be something of a problem for that theory.

Didn't see Egypt for whatever reason, though they were hit pretty hard by the Arab Spring. If there is any connection between that and what is happening now, it would make sense that Egypt would get in on it.

He hopes that even if he doesn't win he can garner some support for future elections and hopefully a broader movement to create a more friendly fascist face in the states. He now runs his own small party which hasn't grow very much and isn't recognized by many of his opponents.
