Yeah, that's a good idea.
I could work with that.

Yeah, theoretically they could be there since they were around until 1000 AD when the Dutch explorers found and colonize the place.

The Assorted Saharan Outposts wrote:Also, would it be better to post in third or first person?

That would be up to you. Normally people do it in third person since it's easier to read but I have seen posters who do it in first.

I'll just do third person. I'm most comfortable with that.
RP Types I Enjoy: God RPs (anything involving deities), alt history, medieval.

Whichever you wish. I post first person for my Author, and third for all others.

Eh, only if they show up. They didn't do much, so you could safely land there yourself.

Once I start spreading steel across the Mississippi tribes. One of the main things to do is to make a Silk Road with the Mississippi River and perhaps trigger a sort of technological diffusion among the tribes before any colonization can take place.

Sounds like good times. Though the descriptive threshold for making steel is high.

How big is the threshold? I was going to get them to probably jump into basic iron age in probably two or three decades since theirs a lack of tin for bronze and there are nearby iron deposits. Steel would come later with bloomies and blast furnaces but it would probably take longer since my character only knows a little about old age smithing and more in the ways of their fighting.

Mhm, that's why. Making bloomeries, and especially blast furnaces, from first principles, not the easiest thing.

What I meant is you'll need a lot of other things in place too to run a steel economy, assuming you are familiar enough with the process itself for your Author to viably replicate it. Mass iron mining requires decent tool making, ditto for coal, which requires a good food supply, political coordination of populations, sanitation, all that. It's a fun process, building a civilization from scratch.

Well, some of the places are there, albeit mismatched and hope to be rectified once I gain the trust of the tribe and forge a nation. Hopefully I can get them into the Iron Age in some resemble time before the Vikings come to smash me, if they get this far west or land in Canada.

No RP sample is no trouble. Out of curiosity, any historical eras you particularly enjoy?

Your application looked fine, as long as you keep the provisios in mind I noted. I'll provisionally accept you until the OP wanders back to formally do so, so feel free to post.

I like the combat of medieval and the economics of the industrial revolution. So usually one of those.

Hmm, okay then. Then, for your RP sample, will you please write me a brief account (4-6 paragraphs) describing a medieval siege from the point of view of a defending common soldier. That should do just fine.
