Pandora's Box Application
Truth Incarnate

Basic Information

Character Name: The Batter

Gender: Unknown - implied to be male

Appearance: The Batter. Appears to be quite "different" to his enemies. Canonically drawn and stated as being purely black and white, even alongside coloured characters. Stated to walk "disturbingly silently".

Species: Unknown - explicity pointed out to not be human. Implied to be some kind of cosmic horror (or the harbinger of one), the incarnation of The Player themselves, or the embodiment of Wrath.

Age: Unknown - physically appears to be in their early twenties

Universe of origin: OFF (The Game, by Mortis Ghost).

Specifications

Abilities: The Batter is an exceptionally strong individual, able to fight continuously against endless tides of enemies with no signs of fatigue. He is able to cast "Competencies", effectively magical abilities centred around the usage of "Competency", which is his version of mana, so to speak. On his own, his physical attacks are immense in strength, and he also possesses the ability to attack apparently otherwise incorporeal or immortal beings (The Spectres).

He is able to use Competencies to perform many capabilities, such as "Homeruns", "Runs with (Emotion)" and other abstract names. Most notably, he is able to deal a great deal of damage, heal allies and exploit basic "elemental" weaknesses (though this term can be misleading, considering the elements are "meat, metal, plastic, sugar and smoke".)

His most notable ability is to "Purify" any area after sufficiently depopulating it of powerful or otherwise sentient creatures, able to wipe the entire area clean - turning it into a white facsimile of its previous self. All text is erased, all colour is removed, all previously un-noteworthy inhabitants mysteriously disappear, and the area is overrun by "Secretaries", strange baby-like creatures of immense, omnicidal power - even towards The Batter himself.

The Batter is able to apparently purify small areas, even with the presence of other sentient beings. This allows him to make small, directed attacks towards lesser beings, allowing him to erase or otherwise injure them.

While his attacks may sound incredibly powerful, it should be noted that his own abilities and physical attacks are only superhuman on their own. He also seems to hold sway over three floating allied rings known as "Addons" that have similar physical characteristics and strengths to him, but also themselves hold suites of "Competencies" of varying strengths and effects.

Weaknesses: Unknown - The Batter does not require air to breathe, seems to not require food, sleep or water (considering the conspicuous lack of air and water in his universe of origin anyway), and seems impervious to exposure or other natural means of death. Besides that, he has human vulnerabilities - specifically showing a weakness to "Palsy", "Poison" and "Muteness".

Personality: A very stoic, unreadable figure. He tends to speak with an almost monotonous tone, although at some times his anger or vindictive condescension may peek through. He seems to be incredibly dedicated to his mission of "Purification", and tends to view anything in his way to be an enemy, regardless of nature. Anyone who seems to be on his side however, is treated as either an ally or a bystander.

Alignment: Either Lawful Evil, Neutral Good or Neutral Evil, depending on how you evaluate his actions. In this incarnation, almost certainly lawful evil (though not readily apparent) in his actions, and True Neutral in his personality.

Noteworthy Equipment:
    - The Ashley Bat. It's a bat.
    - The three Addons (Alpha, Omega and Epsilon)
    - Luck Tickets and various "meats" belonging to names of Satan (Belial, Abaddon, e.t.c) that provide healing and Competency recovery.
Backstory: The Batter

Desired Tier level: Tier 3, most likely. His ability to almost permanently expunge an area's existence (dependent on how much power or "life" remains within) may elevate this to Tier 4 in its own right, however. All other capacities (in combat, in person, e.t.c) are Tier 2, or slightly higher.

Optional Details

Theme Song: There is not one particular song, but it is most likely: Pepper Steak, Not Safe or Avatar Beat.

Likes: Rollercoasters and Pedalos, supposedly.

Dislikes: "Stupid Comics". "The Impure". Generally, things that impede his progress.

Personal Spaceship: Unrequired.

Additional Information: It may be hard to find information on OFF, as it is a very obscure game, and most google searches come up with nothing. It requires very specific terms and keywords to find anything about it (Just searching up "OFF" won't give you anything, and you instead need to search "OFF Game Mortis Ghost"). I myself discovered it from "Searching by Image" from a picture of the game's merchant, Zacharie on the Homestuck Discord.

RP Sample: Neither my best work, nor the most recent. Tread with caution when writing with poetry.

An interesting character, but that purify ability definitely seems OP. I'd also like to see more on his backstory (if there is anything more on it).

I completely omitted the backstory - a mistake that has now been rectified. I have also changed his Purification's properties so that instead of using it to kill, he uses it to bleach the world behind him and Purify the area in which he will fight his opponent, as a Purified Area is generally not good for someone in it.

The backstory looks good now, but I'm still not sure about the Purify ability, as it looks like it would be tremendously problematic for any PCs fighting remotely near him (and having to remember which swaths of the world suddenly lost all color wouldn't make things easier for the RPers either). Could you remove that ability? (It seems like he's still pretty powerful without it).

Although this may appear to be me attempting to powergame or somesuch, I might suggest another solution. Perhaps I can allow The Batter to reverse such small-scale Purifications, and remove the presence of the Adjutants, while still allowing them to perform such feats as to give themselves such advantages. Purification is a very large part of OFF, and The Batter in general.

If all else, simply let it be canon that he is still capable of performing the ability, but cannot due to the prevalence of the PCs surrounding him, and the power they represent.

If that is rejected, then I'll concede, and remove the ability.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but I still think it would be best to remove the ability (if it helps, in the past when folks needed to remove abilities from their characters, they often chalked the loss of abilities up to being in a different universe).

Backstory: The Batter, in OFF, began as the being that The Player was "assigned to". He was controlled by the player, going through four "Zones", each of which he hoped to purify on his "Sacred Mission". Along the way, he discovered the neurotic Elsen, the ornery Dedan, the bitter Japhet and the monstrous Enoch. The Elsen were the inhabitants of the strange first three zones - each of which was protected by the three guardians - Dedan, Japhet and Enoch. Although a long time ago, these guardians had been good people, they had decayed over time. Dedan became angry and fed up, refusing to perform his job. Japhet's efforts to make his people happy only resulted in him being forgotten, driving him to insanity - and Enoch had taken up the practice of killing his own workers to produce "Sugar", a substance he used to keep them all drugged and happy.

The Batter killed each Guardian in succession, purifying the Zones behind him as he went, the power of the Guardians that had once sustained them being gone. He made his way into Zone 0, where he discovered more about the past. He fought Vader Eloha, who was his equal and opposite counterpart created by Hugo - a young boy, also a Guardian, who had been the one to create the entire world, and to befriend all the Guardians. Hugo died, and afterwards, The Batter fought The Judge, a recurring cat that had thus far helped him on his journey. The Judge (Pablo) tried to stop The Batter from permanently destroying the world, but failed. And at last, the switch was OFF.

Desired Tier level: Tier 2 on his own, but Tier 3 with sufficient Competency and his Addons.

Tune in next week to find out... :p

But, no, Revan isn't likely to start anything unless he's thoroughly convinced that Golbatman is a traitor. He'll just be keeping a close eye on him for awhile (which seems only fair, since Golbatman's been doing the same to everyone else ;) )

I know that, but as far as the actual roster goes it's probably best to have his real name. (Well... I mean Geralt of Rivia isn't even his real name if we're being super technical but oh well)

Yep, he was. The Stormcloaks are now led by Galmar Stone-Fist (though quite a few Stormcloaks determined the rebellion to be essentially over after Ulfric died and have basically turned into roaming groups of bandits).

I was thinking I could make a Skyrim Faction of the Imperial Legion, led by an OC: A Prince of the Empire sent after Ulfric's death. Is this acceptable? I won't try to abuse my power and kill the damn Stormcloak Rebels.

The Ascendants' reawakening opened quantum conduits at random throughout the multiverse - everybody so far has entered the RP by passing through one of these, intentionally or not (entirely your call), and arriving on the Hub (big inter-universal space station). There's currently some people on the Hub, though the conduit to Skyrim is closed, I believe, so your character will have to wait until the next one opens if you want to go on an adventure or fight someone.

There are scientists, technicians, engineers, doctors, and other people with none soldier occupations now on the hub as well. AEGIS is pretty much gonna use the hub as their second base for the time being until they can get back home.

I was thinking I could make a Skyrim Faction of the Imperial Legion, led by an OC: A Prince of the Empire sent after Ulfric's death. Is this acceptable? I won't try to abuse my power and kill the damn Stormcloak Rebels.

Sure, that should be fine (and you're more than welcome to kill as many Stormcloak Rebels as you want ;) ). Were you thinking the faction would be the prince and like a small elite guard, or like an entire legion?
