Guys - for those of us who don't get on Discord, it's really annoying to hear of these polls of what world we should go to, and never see it. I request that from now on, things like this that apply to all of us should be posted here in OOC. Things just between a few of you can go on discord. So, for polls about what world to go to, or suggestions as to what should be on the poll - include all of us please. Rant off.

Then get on Discord. The whole reason we moved votes to Discord is because putting them here tends to result in non-members of the RP voting.

That's just it. I don't want to get on Discord.

Plus, can't you put polls up here on OOC that allow it only to members of this group?

Unfortunately, no, I couldn't find a way to get the poll on the OOC to work only for the RPers (which is why we ended up with something like 40 votes in the poll for Skyrim). Discord definitely makes it easier to keep track of the polls, discuss options, etc. If you don't care to use discord you can always TG your vote to me or a Co-op to have it counted, or if you don't want to do that you're welcome to post your choice in the OOC. And honestly, you're the only player who doesn't use discord, so it's not just a few of us discussing these things. Why is it you don't want to use discord? (It really does help make things easier, and reduce clutter in the OOC).

It's just one more thing I'd have to keep track of. I've got enough on my plate now. That's why I haven't been posting as often. I can do maybe twice a week.

So, I will TG votes. That I haven't had a problem with. I'd just like to know what the poll status is, and if other players than the OP get to suggest what goes on the polls, then I'd like a say too. Thanks.

Alright, I'll send you a TG when we're having those discussions than. As to the current poll, Evolve is current leading with 5 votes with Fallout in a close second at 4 votes.

I don't know either of those two worlds. Just put my vote with the majority.

Also, Warglorian, please refrain from posting any OOC information in the IC (That's what this OOC is for). Also, as to your last post, dealing damage to the Hub is prohibited, and the material it's constructed out of would shrug off a hit from a plasma rifle like it was nothing anyway, so that isn't going to fly. If you want to kick up alot of smoke to make an escape, I might recommend tossing a smoke grenade or something along those lines instead (though with the tech level of most folks on the Hub, smoke isn't likely to do much to help you escape anyway).

We could just have a box in the OP at the bottom telling what the poll is, and update the number of votes every now and then by editing it as players on the discord vote.

Like...

Poll: Next World
World One: X
World Two: Y
World Three: Z

Like that, maybe? Could even make a small PNG banner to flare it up. I could do that in Paint.NET, or someone else could if they wanted. Anyways, it's all just a suggestion.

Yeah, I never played Evolve either, but the good news is it appears to have virtually no lore to worry about, so it'll probably just be a quick universe where we battle a few monsters. Since that's got the majority vote, I'll add your vote to it.

Good idea, and once voting has finished I could keep the spoiler around to show what the next universe will be in the OOC. I'll add that in the OP :)

Edit: That section has now been added at the bottom of the OP

Char!Torii/Dima/Katya are out just in case. May not do much with them, unless I have a reason to. Iko and Marie are still in play.

May send Dima (Alt-Torii) and Marie on the next mission, depending.

Wait, by space station, are you talking about DS9 or the Hub? (Because I think the folks on DS9 are more spread out over the Promenade and Ops).

With the Star Trek arc nearing its end, I thought I'd bring a little Trek back with us (and I figure it couldn't hurt to have literal red shirts around to sacrifice in future universes :p )

Character Name: Captain Marcus Nelson

Gender: Male

Appearance: Captain Nelson

Species: Human

Age: 37

Universe of origin: Star Trek

Alignment: Lawful Good

Abilities: Very talented strategist and tactician, excellent shot with a phaser, training in human and vulcan martial arts

Weaknesses: Not very physically strong, even for a standard human; preferring to out-think or outmaneuver opponents rather than overpower them. Tends to over-think or over-analyse situations.

Personality: More a thinker than a doer in some regards, though his XO's very opposite personality has helped to even that out somewhat over the course of the war. Extremely devoted to his crew.

Noteworthy Equipment: Combadge, tricorder, Type 3b phaser rifle and type 2 phaser pistol, stun grenades

Backstory: Marcus Nelson was born on a Federation starship in 2338 to two Starfleet officers, and was brought up to follow in his family's footsteps almost from the day he was born. Most of his youth was spent on starships, and under his parent's guidance, he learned about starship operations by shadowing officers in different departments, and received training in various human and vulcan martial arts, as well as training to use phasers with his father on the holodeck (which was easily his favorite of the activities his parents made him do). Though this didn't make for much of a childhood, it did ultimately help him get into Starfleet Academy and to excel there.

He became particularly interested in history while at the Academy, and studied as much about the various engagements the Federation found themselves in over the years as he could. These studies in military history, combined with his knowledge of martial arts and skill with a phaser led to his being assigned as a tactical officer following graduation, and he was assigned to an exploratory vessel on the edge of Federation space. He performed his duties admirably, and rapidly rose through the ranks. By 2366 he had reached the rank of Commander and was assigned as First Officer of the Bellerophon, but the assignment was not to last long. In 2367, the Bellerophon was assigned to the Federation task force assembled at Wolf 359 to defend against the Borg incursion; where it would participate in the disastrous Battle of Wolf 359.

Despite having a significant numerical advantage, the information the Borg had obtained by assimilating Captain Picard enabled them to carve through the Federation task force like a hot knife through butter. The Melbourne and the Saratoga were among the first ships to engage the Borg Cube, but were almost immediately neutralized. In an attempt to rescue the disabled ships, the Bellerophon's Captain ordered the ship to approach alongside the Yamaguchi and fire on the Cube, but they had no more luck withstanding the assault than the previous two ships and soon took severe damage when the Cube moved to fire on them. The Bellerophon sustained heavy casualties in the attack, and the Captain had no choice but to give the order to abandon ship. Nelson had intended to remain at his post, but the Captain ordered him to personally oversee the evacuation.

Though he wanted to protest, he knew the Captain had enough on his mind at the moment, and so left the Bridge to carry out his orders. He managed to rescue over a dozen wounded crewmen and civilians and get them to the escape pods, before a total failure of the life support systems necessitated that he cease the search and abandon the ship with what remained of his crew. Of a crew of 750, only 43 survived the attack, and of those only 32 avoided assimilation. After the Enterprise finally succeeded in destroying the Cube, Nelson and the other survivors were eventually rescued, and Nelson learned the terrible toll the battle had taken: 39 Starships had been destroyed, and over 11,000 people had been killed or assimilated by the Borg. Among those were a great many of Nelson's closest friends, and to make matters even worse, he learned that his father's flagship was among those destroyed, and that it had been lost with all hands.

Devastated by the news, Nelson became determined to do everything in his power to keep a disaster like this from ever happening to the Federation again. While most of his surviving crewmates were reassigned to other ships, he decided to take a post at Starfleet Headquarters to give himself easy access to Starfleet Academy, where he would spend every free moment studying military tactics and strategy, and learning every piece of information he could find about the Borg to help Starfleet develop better defenses against them. In addition to his studies, he used his post at Starfleet Headquarters to lobby for an increased militarization of Starfleet at every available opportunity, and helped to get the design plans for ships designed primarily for combat, like the Defiant-class and Sovereign-class, pushed through.

This lobbying would also end up putting him in the good graces of a number of like-minded Admirals, who rushed through his promotion to the rank of Captain at the outbreak of the Klingon-Cardassian War in 2372. He was promised command of one of the new Sovereign-class vessels scheduled to be completed in the next year, and stayed on at Starfleet Headquarters in the interim, but he also started spending a good deal of time at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards where the vessel was being constructed, to learn as much as possible about the inner-workings of the ship he would one day command. When 2373 did finally roll around, his knowledge of the ship's inner workings would aid him in making suggestions on how the vessel could be better refit to defend against an increasingly likely attack by the Dominion. Sadly, that attack would soon come to pass when the Dominion officially declared war against the Federation and captured Deep Space Nine.

As soon as the refit was complete, Nelson's new ship was christened the USS Constitution, and after hand-picking a crew of the finest fighting men and women he could find, Nelson set out for the front lines of the war. Over the next few months, Nelson and his crew would participate in battles that made Wolf 359 look like child's play, but even in the face of defeat the crew fought valorously, and Nelson along with many of those serving under him would receive numerous commendations for their efforts. Ultimately, this would help lead to the Constitution being selected to participate in Operation Return, where Nelson and his crew would fight harder than ever to finally turn the tide of war in the Federation's favor and retake Deep Space Nine...

Character Name: Commander Jhalas

Gender: Female

Appearance: Commander Jhalas

Species: Andorian

Age: 32

Universe of origin: Star Trek

Alignment: Neutral Good

Abilities: Extremely deadly with a phaser at long range or an ushaan-tor in melee combat

Weaknesses: Tends to act without thinking things through, can be belligerent towards others

Personality: Opposite to the Captain, Jhalas is much more of a doer than a thinker, preferring to jump straight into things and improvise rather than sitting around planning out every detail. Much as she might like to sometimes, her respect for the Captain has kept her from being outright insubordinate (though it certainly hasn't stopped her from voicing her objections on multiple occasions).

Noteworthy Equipment: Combadge, tricorder, Type 3b phaser rifle and type 2 phaser pistol, ushaan-tor, photon grenades

Backstory: Jhalas was born in 2343 on the planet of Andor to parents who worked in the planet's ice mines. She grew up determined not to spend her life stuck underground, and studied and trained long and hard to avoid that fate. She became quite skilled with the ushaan-tor at this time, and to this day carries the tool around to serve both as a weapon and a reminder that no matter how bad things get, at least she isn't stuck working in a mine.

Though they were largely just ceremonial at this point, and though it was against her parents' wishes, Jhalas applied to join the Andorian Imperial Guard, which was impressed enough with her skills to accept her. She proved to be a skilled fighter, and quickly became quite proficient in the use of phasers, grenades, and other weapons; impressing her superiors enough to help her quickly rise through the ranks.

After the disastrous Battle of Wolf 359, Starfleet was left with a sudden shortage of officers, and began reaching out to various planetary defense forces to try and help refill their ranks. The Andorian Imperial Guard was among those forces, and deciding she wanted to see some real action against foes like the now infamous Borg, Jhalas signed up and was commissioned in Starfleet at her Imperial Guard rank of Lieutenant Commander. While her impetuousness didn't do much to hamper her advancement in the Imperial Guard, Jhalas soon learned the hard way that Starfleet was much less tolerant of such behavior, and in six years of service she received enough reprimands to keep her from being promoted.

That would change in late 2373 however, when Captain Marcus Nelson decided her Imperial Guard training might include skills that would be valuable to pass along to the rest of the crew, most of whom had received only the limited combat training provided by Starfleet, and extended an offer to her to serve as his First Officer. She gladly accepted the position, along with the promotion that came with it, and arrived at the Constitution just in time for the Dominion War to kick off.

Ever since then, she has worked to provide valuable training to the Constitution's crew, and in spite of her frequent disagreements with the Captain, has striven to be the best First Officer she can be. And, much as either would hate to admit it, the debates the two have had due to Jhalas' impetuous nature and Nelson's circumspection have helped to balance each other out overtime and make the Constitution more effective than it likely would've been without someone around to call out the more extreme aspects of either officers' nature.

Faction Name: USS Constitution

Faction History: Though ostensibly still primarily an organization devoted to exploration, the heavy losses sustained at the hands of the Borg at Wolf 359, and the outbreak of the Klingon-Cardassian War led to the Federation designing ships more oriented towards combat than exploration; namely the Defiant-class and Sovereign-class line of vessels. The USS Constitution belongs to the latter class, and was the third Sovereign class vessel to be completed after the USS Sovereign and Enterprise-E. Though originally scheduled to be completed shortly after the Enterprise, Captain Nelson had heard rumors of a possible Dominion incursion into the Alpha Quadrant, and not wanting his new vessel to meet the same fate as the USS Odyssey, Nelson discussed additional defensive countermeasures with the engineers behind the Defiant, and ordered a refit to add additional phaser banks and torpedo launchers, a refit the Enterprise would also later undergo as well, and to add ablative armor over the ship's critical systems to give added protection against the Jem'Hadar's advanced polaron weaponry.

This refit would prove to be prudent when, a short time later, the Dominion and their new Cardassian allies officially declared war on the Federation and proceeded to capture Deep Space Nine. With her refit complete, the Constitution was immediately deployed to the frontlines and assigned to the Seventh Fleet. Despite heavy losses in the early stages of the war, the Constitution and her crew performed admirably, and within the first few months of the conflict had destroyed over two dozen Dominion vessels. Even in the disastrous battle in the Tyra System, where 98 Federation starships were lost or damaged beyond repair, the Constitution was able to destroy seven Dominion ships while covering the retreat of the few remaining ships of the Seventh Fleet, enabling 13 other vessels to escape the carnage and return to Federation space.

Captain Nelson and the crew of the Constitution all received commendations for their actions at Tyra, and with the Seventh Fleet effectively no longer in existence, were reassigned to even heavier combat duty on the frontlines. In addition to fleet engagements, the crew of the Constitution were now also routinely assigned to assisting in the defense of Federation worlds on the ground, where they experienced first-hand the true brutality of the Jem'Hadar forces. Though not standard operating procedure, Nelson always accompanied his troops in the field, and did what he could to inspire them to keep going, and get as many of his people as possible through the brutal engagements in one piece.

Following the successful defense of a Federation colony, the Constitution was reassigned yet again to aid the massive Federation task force in Operation Return to retake DS9 before the Dominion was able to bring down the minefield and summon reinforcements from the Gamma Quadrant. Knowing well that the outcome of the war, and the fate of the Federation, may well depend on the success of this mission, the crew of the Constitution gave the battle everything they had, and were able to destroy nine Dominion vessels before breaking through the enemy blockade alongside 200 other Federation and Klingon vessels heading straight for Deep Space Nine...

Excelsior Class ships are still the sexiest Starfleet vessels, IMO. No contest.

Also, yee, I can still have my characters dabble around with Federation tech then?

Also, yee, I can still have my characters dabble around with Federation tech then?

Excelsiors are definitely sexy, but I still put them in third on my list after the Sovereign-class and NX-class (Star Trek definitely has some pretty great ship designs :) )

And yep, they'll be bringing along plenty of Federation tech you can dabble around with (though I'd probably be careful about poking around in the weapons systems, the Federation always seems pretty averse to sharing weapons technology ;) )

Lol. Warp drives and holodecks are more of my field of interest.

Sovereign Classes are nice. My top three list though had to definitely be the Excelsior, Nebula, and Daedalus Classes. Constellation and Miranda classes also get the four and five spots.

Hmm...if Evolve ends up being the next world, then Torii and Marie will be my two characters to send.

Warp drives and holodecks would be fine (just try not to cause a warp core breach or anything :p )

I think I'd have to give my four and five spots to the Prometheus class and the good ol' Galaxy class (really wish we could've seen more of the Prometheus class in the show; that multi-vector assault thing would've been awesome to see in some of the Dominion War battles)

Prometheus class is nice. I like that a lot. I like the Galaxy Class, but prefer the Nebula Class as its little cousin.

The Premonition Class from Star Trek Armada is kinda cool.

Hmm, I thought someone else was on the hub and wanting to interact or something...
