Character Name: Corporal Marie Edward Wellington
Gender: Female
Appearance: Marie is a short young woman, a full two heads below most at four-foot eleven. She is also a thin girl, with very fair skin the colour of sand, and short dandelion hair. Her azure eyes accent her rosy cheeks, and her small, mousy nose. Her teeth are similar to a Human's, although with more canines and sharper fangs, just like a big cat. Her ears are higher up than a Human's; they are much like a cat's, fuzzy and large, with her left ear twitching on its own every now and then.
Species: Neko
Age: 18
Universe of origin: OC/Puppet
Alignment: Neutral Good
Abilities: Marie possesses several heightened senses that provide her an advantage over Humans. She has improved hearing, smell, and eyesight, as well as excellent night vision. She is very agile, and can react, run, climb, and jump faster than a Human can. She can differentiate others by their distinct scents, and even tell identical species apart to a degree by their unique scents and subtle movements.
Weaknesses: A caveat to her feline abilities, she is smaller than a Human, and physically weaker. While she is technically an omnivore, she relies more on the consuming of meat for her nutrition. Her sex drive is higher, and various pheromones and chemicals can affect her body negatively. She is more sensitive to loud noises and bright lights, and can be stunned by certain noises or bright enough flashes.
Personality: Marie is very bubbly and upbeat. She has a flirtatious side to her, and an unspoken confidence about her, but she's not pushy or intrusive. She's very laid back and friendly, coming from a country background; on the other hand, she carries herself with a certain elegance often found in high-class urbanites (although her accent and mannerisms are not very refined at all.)
Noteworthy Equipment: Uniform of the Army of the Commonwealth and a variety of gear with it. This includes a battle rig, rucksack, light pouches, canteen and cup, medical bag, and spade. For a weapon, she carries a bayonet, a .45 caliber pistol, and a Lee-Enfield Mk.III Carbine.
Backstory: Marie was raised on Saint Gloriana Isle in the Queen Mary Isles Commonwealth, a Pacific dominion of the British Commonwealth, in the autumn of 1897. This was, of course, nearing the end of the Victorian era, when the Isles were first colonized. Since the early 1800's, The Queen Mary isles had been a loyal British colony, and it was in Marie's own family that she knew two veterans of the Boer and Zulu wars. Marie grew up listening to wild stories of last stands against Zulu savages and of the exploits of their Queen Mary's Highland Regiment across Southern Africa. She found herself inspired by her elders' stories, and fascinated by their memorabilia - red coats, field helmets, Martini-Henry Rifles, and a number of souvenirs brought from Africa. It was mostly due to those factors that Marie wanted to be a soldier. It was considered an honour in The Isles to serve the Crown, and Marie was certain that she would do so when she was old enough to enlist.
Turned out, however, that she just couldn't wait. When The Great War broke out in Mid-1914, Marie was just under the age of enlistment, while many of her neighbors' children were ready to enlist. Marie figured that seventeen was old enough to fight, of course, much to her family's dismay. Morale was high, and nobody thought that the war would last long, and although there hadn't been any major exploits of Islander troops in recent years, many figured that they would meet success against Fritz in the field. Marie had no idea just how the war would go when she lied and snuck past the enlistment age requirements.
She still didn't get to fight Fritz, though. First stop for the Queen Mary Soldiers was Gallipoli.
The Gallipoli campaign was disastrous at first for Allied forces. None of the new soldiers had any real concept of war, and morale was easily smashed. Marie herself had gotten quite a dose of reality when she found herself scrambling for a gas mask, or dodging sniper fire while laying telegram wires - that was, when she wasn't crawling into trenches to patch gunshot wounds or treat napalm burns. She hated herself for sneaking into the Royal Army, but there was little that she could have done to get out, especially with the need for medics, or troops in general. Her optimism began to dwindle following the first crushing defeats against the Ottomans, too. However, while the Queen Mary Islanders, ironically nicknamed "Bloody Marys" by British and ANZAC troops, did originally perform poorly, their luck would turn after older veterans were brought back into the fold to train the survivors and instill fighting spirit into the girls. Queen Mary Islander Nekos were naturally made to hunt and fight, and it only took a bit of discipline and reinforcement to mold them into a brutal fighting force. The moniker "Bloody Mary" soon became more of a literal nickname, when they stopped running from Ottoman fire and started to slaughter the enemy in droves. Even Marie would take part in a raid on the Ottoman trenches and camps, the infamous nighttime attacks by Queen Mary soldiers that left little, if any, survivors, and that made even their allies wary of them.
By 1915, the campaign seemed to be failing, even with the newfound victories by the Queen Mary regiments. Marie herself was promoted to Corporal, and she was looking forward to her assignment to a new unit.

Theme Song: Here!

Likes: Being an outdoorsie type, Marie enjoys activities such as gardening and hunting. Outdoors games, exploration, and climbing are entertaining to her as well. Rifle marksmanship is a hobby that she indulges in on occasion; model building and astronomy are long-time interests. Swimming and water sports are activities that she enjoys under certain circumstances - Being from an island means that she's used to the water, at least the clearer ponds and streams, but her feline instincts still get the best of her sometimes.
Dislikes: She dislikes water - at least, she dislikes large bodies of water such as oceans or lakes, or dirty water, and only enjoys swimming or stepping into pools or clear springs, and even then, only when accompanied. She dislikes "dead" environments, such as rooms with no air flow or noise. Aside from her phobias or quirks, she is annoyed or offended by obnoxious personalities and by being mocked due to her accent or height.
