The Fates of every Greek and Roman demigod are always intertwined. From the moment the Greeks razed the city of Troy to the ground, that was the moment in which one demigod faction could not exist without the other. Ever since that moment, the majority of conflicts in the world have been between the Greeks and Roman demigods, and has reached the point in which the Gods could not see another option but to concentrate all of their children in one area, but also establish a buffer zone between them.

Welcome to 2016 North America.

However, things are not what they appear. The 71-year truce that has kept the Roman and Greek demigods from tearing each other apart is currently becoming more and more unstable each day. Both sides are beginning to intrude on the No Man's Land, separating their territories from the East & West. With the truce becoming more and more unstable with the passing moment, monsters that the world had not seen for thousands of years are starting to walk the Earth again, notably beasts that had been previously slain such as the Minotaur, the Hydra and Medusa. Despite the shielding of these creatures from non-demigod eyes, the Gods are still concerned about these beasts that still roam the earth, preying on demigods, regardless of what side they're on.

The truce is fading, the two factions will come into contact once more, but united against a larger threat, or divided against each other?

Hubris of the Gods is a character-driven RP based loosely off of the universe of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians Series (mind you, none of the stories take place in this RP, but simple bits and pieces such as the Gods moving to North America, Celestial Bronze, etc. is used) but will be a much more grittier version as certain parts have been adjusted (demigods get claimed by their parents at 18 years old, demigods live in fortified hamlets, demigods start training around 17 and typically remain in the villas until they are 23-24, etc.). The main plot of this RP is a secret, only to be revealed early on in the IC, but it will revolve around resolving the thousands of years old grudge between the Romans and Greeks while counteracting a returning and extremely dangerous evil.

We will be RPing as a relatively small party of Roman & Greek demigods, hand picked by the Greek/Roman Gods (specifically Athena/Minerva) to undertake on this dangerous quest. This means I expect you to respect the lore of the RP, and butt heads a few times when making decisions and such. The Grudge holds a major priority over the success of the quest a huge portion of the time, with a bigger emphasis on honour and upholding the Grudge instead of having success of the quest.

RULES

    1. Obey both OP's and Co-OP's rulings
    2. No metagaming, OOC flaming, godmodding
    3. You're not invincible. If you're put into an impossible situation, accept it. You can always make a new character.
    4. That being said, your characters will die. You need to prepare for when this happens.
    5. You're centred mainly around the small group of demigods, but will also see situations where you are separated from the group and are required to survive on your own for a bit.
    6. One-liners are strictly prohibited. Please put effort into your posts, even if they are simply in dialogue. I expect a paragraph at least with Ninth Grade grammar & spelling.
    7. If you're going to be inactive, please let everyone know in the OOC. This is a character-driven RP, and if you're not there, you're definitely holding everyone back.
    8. There will be romantic interests between characters, but that's no excuse to turn this RP into a brothel. Keep it relatively PG-13 and make sure to have the parts that no one wants to read in the TGs, or don't post them at all.
    9. We will be implementing the 72-hour rule, which means if you have no activity IC-wise in 72-hours, anyone you were interacting with are permitted (encouraged even) to progress further into the RP. Please, I cannot stress this enough, LET EVERYONE KNOW IN THE OOC IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE INACTIVE.
    10. Have fun, kick back and relax.

FAQ/Additional Information

Q: When are the Demigods' Powers awakened?
A: As soon as they are born, but the powers' strength would function much like speaking or walking would in humans, it would take time to develop and fully grow. Typically, a demigods' powers would fully develop around the ages of 16-18.

Q: Parts of the OOC says this RP is like a gritty Percy Jackson RP, what does that mean?
A: Although it says this is like a gritty Percy Jackson RP and borrows elements from Mr. Riordan's series, none of the events in the Percy Jackson series takes place in this RP. This means that the whole Gaia plot line in the Lost Heroes of Olympus do not happen, the Second Titan War in New York City does not happen and plenty of locations that exist in Mr. Riordan's series do not exist in this RP.

Q: Guns?
A: Useless against monsters. It does physical damage to their body, but does nothing to send their soul back to Tartarus (which is what Celestial Bronze & Imperium Iron does) and therefore allows the monster to regenerate. Not to mention, they're incredibly overpowered. I'll immediately reject any application that uses a gun.

Q: What happens to the Big Three (Hades, Zeus & Poseidon)'s demigods?
A: I'm very aware of the incredible power the demigods of the Big Three possess, but in order to make it seem more realistic, the powers of the demigods of the Big Three will have to be hard to control (i.e. immensely draining on their energy, difficult to maintain for extended periods of time, etc.). However, if I cannot come to a balanced solution for the Big Three demigods & their powers, then I'll just prohibit them entirely.

Q: Can I apply as a God/Goddess
A: No. And this is not negotiable.

Q: Can I apply as a Primordial God/Goddess Offspring?
A: Sorry, as much as I would like to allow this, I cannot. It's simply because these offspring would have no business in either the Roman or Greek demigod camps. There will be exceptions made to certain individuals however, mainly those I know fairly well and have been transparent with how their characters act, what their powers are, their character & plot arc, etc.

Information to Know (WIP)

Postby Ontorisa » Wed Apr 26, 2017 6:36 pm

Demigod-Related Information

Celestial Bronze - Celestial Bronze was first used by the Greek Mythological Heroes in the Early Bronze Age/Late Stone Age. Its appearance is similar to that, except Celestial Bronze possesses a much more "clean" look to it. As well, unlike Bronze, Celestial Bronze can damage monsters more than mortal elements can, since it possesses special properties. It dissolves monsters' bodies while sending their soul to Tartarus to reform. It can also be as dangerous to demigods, separating their soul from their body.

Imperium Iron - Imperium Iron is the Roman equivalent of Celestial Bronze. Despite possessing almost the exact same effects as Celestial Bronze, Imperium Iron is much more common and less durable than Celestial Bronze is. As a result, even though the Romans prefer to use Imperium Iron, some weapons are forged to incorporate both elements into a single blade.

Ambrosia - The healing god food used in emergencies, when demigods are seriously hurt. Ambrosia will cure almost any injury, although too much can make a demigod feverish and kills mortals. Despite being the Food of the Gods, Ambrosia has been slowly remade over the years so that it could be used to help demigods as well as Gods.

Nectar - Nectar is used as a healing drink when someone is injured. Demigods can drink it, but if they have too much of it, they are in danger of being incinerated. Humans can't drink it at all without being incinerated. It has been implied that nectar tastes like anything the drinker likes (favourite food or drink). Similar to that of Ambrosia, Nectar has been modified over the years to accommodate the needs of demigods, and has been slightly successful in transforming to help demigods as well as gods.

The Mist - The Mist is a supernatural force controlled by the goddess Hecate that twists a mortal's sight from seeing monsters, gods, Titans, and various other mythical creatures and supernatural occurrences by replacing them with things the mortal mind knows about and can comprehend.

The Grudge - The Grudge of Troy, or simply called The Grudge, is a grudge older than one thousand years that was the result of the Trojan War between the Trojans and Greeks. When the Greeks razed Troy to the ground, the survivors, led by Aeneas, whose descendants eventually founded the city of Rome. From there, the Greeks and Romans were heated rivals from the very beginning of Rome's founding with the demigods fighting each other before the actual Roman forces even step foot inside of Greece. The Grudge was reignited with Epirius' landing in Rome, the constant conflicts between the Romans and Greeks and eventually the Roman conquest of Greece. Even though Rome conquered Greece, the demigods had never forgotten the Grudge, and were constantly fighting each other, until the end of World War II, when the Gods imposed a truce between the two factions, settling them all in North America and dividing them up into two parts: The Romans in the West and the Greeks in the East, as it was in the Old World.

The Truce - The Truce of the World Wars, or simply referred to as the Truce, is a 71-year old truce between the Greek and Roman demigod factions to ensure no more blood is spilled between them. The Truce also helps reinforce the Realm of Tartarus, where mythological monsters' souls go when they are defeated on Earth to reform, to help slow down the process in which the monsters are re-animated and re-appear on Earth. Recently however, the Truce has become unstable for an unknown reason, and has seen its power over Tartarus weaken, seeing more and more dangerous and ancient monsters re-form on Earth at a much more rapid rate.

Maps of the Main Demigod Locations
Blue = Greek Hamlet
Orange = Roman Villa
Black Lines = Sides of the No Man's Land

Image

Image

Each main location for both sides features a large main house with small cabins and tents on the outside. Typically located outside of major cities, the Mist shrouds these locations so they appear to be regular houses. Each location possesses a Mess Hall, Training Grounds, transportation, Armouries, Places to sleep and small other enjoyable activities.

The central/capital location for the Greeks is Olympus, which is located near the entrance to the new Mount Olympus in New York City. The central/capital location for the Romans is Praetoria, where the bulk of their leadership meets every 3 months to discuss various issues in the Roman territory as well as quests, prophecies and any threats that exist on their borders. Both the Greeks and Romans have numerous forts on the borders of the No Man's Land, although they are typically manned with 10-15 demigods and have tents and palisade walls as their only structures. These forts act as both defence against monsters and threats that exist in the No Man's Land.

Living in the Villas/Hamlets

Life in both the Villas of the Romans and Hamlets of the Greeks vary. While the Greeks are very lax with rules and allow their demigods to mingle about, the Romans are strict and disciplined. To even things up, the Greeks tend to divide their demigods into groups, separated by the parents of the demigods (i.e. children of Athena would be in the same group while children of Hermes would be in the same group, etc.). Each group would then select a demigod to represent them at the Council of the Greeks, an annual meeting between the high ranking officials of the Greek demigods, as well as the War Council.

Unlike the Greeks however, the Romans split their demigods up into cohorts, similar to that of a Legion. Each cohort are led by two centurions, one male and one female, regardless of Godly parentage. These cohorts are then treated as a single unit, and can be used during offensive wars by the Romans, against monsters or demigods alike. Due to this, the political structure between the cohorts and the Senate of the Romans can be very complex at times, with the more influential members having the cohorts in their favour and, at times, using them as political tools against their opponents.

The Gods

Both the Romans and Greeks worship the same Gods, however the Gods are known by both sides by different names and tend to carry on the traits from their worshippers. The Roman version of the Gods are more disciplined, war-like and less diplomatic than the Greek Gods. Despite this, the Gods manage to control their personalities most of the time (there have been a few cases when Ares/Mars may have caused a couple of demigods to come into conflict with one another).

For those unfamiliar with the major Gods & Goddesses, below is a spoiler containing a quick summary of each God & Goddess, their Roman & Greek names and their image.

Image
Greek Name: AphroditeRoman Name: Venus
Goddess of love, beauty, and desire. Symbols include the dove, bird, apple, bee, swan, myrtle, and rose. Daughter of Zeus and the Oceanid Dione, or perhaps born from the sea foam after parts of Uranus dripped into the sea after being castrated by his youngest son, Kronos, who then threw his pieces of his father into the sea. Married to Hephaestus, although she had many adulterous affairs, most notably with Ares.

Image
Greek Name: HephaestusRoman Name: Vulcan

The second-youngest Olympian, just older than Dionysus.

Image
Greek Name: HestiaRoman Name: Vesta
Goddess of the hearth and of the right ordering of domesticity and the family; she was born into the first Olympian generation and was one of the original twelve Olympians. Some lists of the Twelve Olympians omit her in favor of Dionysus, but the speculation that she gave her throne to him in order to keep the peace seems to be modern invention. She is the first child of Kronos and Rhea, eldest sister of Hades, Demeter, Poseidon, Hera, and Zeus.

Image
Greek Name: DionysusRoman Name: Bacchus
God of wine, celebrations, and ecstasy. Patron god of the art of theatre. Symbols include the grapevine, ivy, cup, tiger, panther, leopard, dolphin, goat, and pinecone. Son of Zeus and the mortal Theban princess Semele. Married to the Cretan princess Ariadne. The youngest Olympian god, as well as the only one to have a mortal mother.

Image
Greek Name: [None]Roman Name: Bellona
Bellona was an Roman goddess of war. Her main attribute is the military helmet worn on her head; she often holds a sword, spear or shield, and brandishes a torch or whip as she rides into battle in a four-horse chariot.

Bestiary - WIP

Postby Ontorisa » Wed Apr 26, 2017 6:36 pm

The following is a collection of the various Greek-Roman monsters that may be encountered on a demigod's journey in North America.

UNIQUE MONSTERS

Unique Monsters is a category of beasts that only have one monster. These monsters are typically seen in Classical Mythology, such as the Hydra, the Minotaur and the Chimera.

The Minotaur
Many know of the Minotaur from the Myth of Theseus. A menacing beast, towering at about 7 feet tall with the body of a man and the head of a bull. A ferocious fighter, and known to be an aggressive and difficult foe to fight, the Minotaur has always been the bane of questing demigods, as its human features allow it to maintain a certain degree of agility and movement, while its bull features allow it to easily track down its targets as well as charge. Typically in times of war, the Minotaur will done solid bronze plate and greaves on its human torso while wielding a giant battleaxe.

The Hydra
One of the most fearsome and famous monsters from the Classical Greek Mythology, the Hydra is a multi-headed serpent-like creature who stands at an impressive 9 feet tall. Known scientifically as the Lernaean Hydra (or Hydra of Lerna), the Hydra surprisingly mostly keeps to itself despite the beliefs of many demigods. A territorial creature, the Hydra spends most of its days wandering the prairies and flatlands of the No Man's Land, surviving off the land and feasting on any livestock foolish enough to approach it. As of now, due to both the Truce and the Hydra's own sentient desires, the creature poses little threat to either demigod factions. However, with the Truce weakening, the Hydra is predicted to become much more aggressive in the future and could be the centre point of a future quest.

The Chimera
The Chimera was a ferocious, fire breathing monstrosity that possessed the body and head of a lion with the head of a goat protruding from it’s back and a snake for a tail. The brief description of the Chimera in the text of The Iliad is the earliest surviving record of the creature. The Chimera is traditionally considered to have been a female, and was said to have given birth to the Sphinx and the Nemean lion. The monster was feared and believed to have been an omen for storms, shipwrecks and other natural disasters. The Chimera, unlike the previous monsters mentioned, has been unable to recreate and its soul has been contained to Tartarus for now. It is extremely dangerous, its last previous sighting being in 749 AD, and is assumed to have been the cause of the Galilee Earthquake that took place that year.

The Sphinx
A sphinx was a mythical monster, which had the head of a human and the body of a lion. The sphinx was considered to be a woman and one sphinx was only considered to exist in Greek mythology. Said Sphinx was famously depicted in the Oedipus myth, quizzing travellers at random on the question: "which is the creature that has one voice, but has four feet in the morning, two feet in the afternoon, and three feet at night?".
Nowadays, the Sphinx is rumoured to be residing in the Smithsonian Museums in Washington, D.C. and currently poses little threat to the Greek demigods.

The Erymanthian Boar
The famed Erymanthian Boar appeared in the Labours of Heracles as Heracles' Fourth Labour. A giant and ferocious beast, its one and only purpose it was created for was to destroy anything in its way. Originally thought to have been sent by Artemis, the Boar was assumed to have completed its task only to go berserk and roam the surrounding countryside, tearing apart anything in its path. While the Boar is not immortal nor immune to any outside attacks, it is still quite a serious and dangerous threat and has claimed the lives of many demigods who have gone after it. The last reported sighting of the Boar was in 1992 when it had gone and seemingly levelled the surrounding area in the state of Mississippi.

The Nemean Lion
Another creature commonly found in the texts of the Labours of Heracles, the Nemean Lion was, unofficially, one of the most difficult creatures Heracles had to face. Along with being a gigantic lion with razor sharp claws and teeth as devastating as swords, the Lion's hide was impervious to any type of weapon, ancient or modern. While the Lion's exterior is invincible to any weapon of sorts, it does have its weaknesses,
particularly its unarmoured mouth and its somewhat lumbering speed. Unlike other creatures mentioned in the Bestiary, the Nemean Lion has,
surprisingly, been living peacefully in Orlando, Florida where it resides within a zoo, being one of the largest lions on display.

NON-UNIQUE MONSTERS

Non-Unique Monsters are monsters who can be numerous in numbers. Typically these monsters are evil (though there are a few exceptions), usually foot soldiers for an army of some sort. Not to be underestimated, these monsters can be dangerous individually or in numbers.

The Centaurs
Centaurs are half-human, half-horse creatures in Greek mythology. They have the body of a horse and the torso, head and arms of a man. They were considered to be the children of Ixion, king of the Lapiths, and Nephele, a cloud made in the image of Hera. According to a different myth, however, they were all born from the union of a single Centaurus with the Magnesian mares. In modern society, centaurs can be found all across North America, partying, drinking and having a good time in general. Typically centaurs can be found in university fraternities or in major "party" cities. Though typically against violence, centaurs can become rowdy and violent once motivated or intoxicated. Contrary to common belief, there also exists spiteful and dangerous centaurs whose hostility towards demigods remains unexplained.

The Hellhounds
A hellhound is a supernatural dog in folklore. A wide variety of ominous or hellish supernatural dogs occur in mythologies around the world, similar to the often seen dragon. Features that have been attributed to hellhounds include mangled black fur, glowing red eyes, super strength or speed, ghostly or phantom characteristics, and a foul odor. Dangerous, large and aggressive, Hellhounds have always served a form of higher power, usually "evil" in function. Additionally, Hellhounds usually function in packs typically from 3-5 in number, but have been spotted to roam in packs up to 12 in number.

The Telchines
Their parents were either Pontus and Gaia, or Tartarus and Nemesis, or else they were born from the blood of castrated Uranus along with the Erinyes. In another story there were nine Telkhines, children of Thalassa and Pontus; they had flippers instead of hands and the heads of dogs and were known as fish children. They were regarded as excellent metallurgists: various accounts state that they were skilled metal workers in brass and iron, and made a trident for Poseidon and a sickle for Cronus, both ceremonial weapons.

The Laestrygonian Giants
The Laestrygonians, are a race of giant cannibals. Standing at eight feet tall, these giants are ferocious, and feast on the blood and flesh of man. Dangerous, violent and possessing razor sharp teeth, these Giants are no joke and are not meant to be played with at all.

The Drakons
One of the three types of Dragons mentioned in Classical Greek Mythology. They are massive serpentine monsters, capable of spitting acid or breathing fire. Many can have multiple heads, few are capable of true flight, as they are wingless. Regardless of their flightless nature they are monstrously powerful, and one of the most fearsome foes any mortal can face. Covered in scales harder than iron, many say it is almost impossible to take down a Drakon without the help of divine intervention, although that hasn't stopped a few brave (or foolish) demigods from trying before.

The Cetus
The second type of Greek Dragons, the Cetus are the sea dragons in Classical Greek Mythology. They are rather large and serpentine in nature, but can only inhabit water, unlike its brethren. They are nowhere near as powerful as Drakons, but they can easily sink ships none the less. Some are able to call storms to sink ships, they often collude with other monsters of the seas and oceans to get their prey.

The Dracaena
The last of the three types of Greek Dragons, these are an anomaly among them. They possess a humanoid form which is usually monstrous in appearance. Some Dracaena however hold an exotic beauty and can easily sway the minds of Mortals. Many have reportedly feasted on humans and beasts, of any sort. Some have serpent tails instead of legs, some however have been able to assume a fully human form for a time. Beyond their appearance and base habits very little is known about these creatures.

DISCLAIMER: Some portions of this bestiary were taken from various education websites found on Google.

The Romans
"Senatus Populusque Romanus"

The Romans are the demigod faction who are descendants of the Roman version of the ancient Gods. Unlike the Greeks, the Romans are much more disciplined and follow strict schedules and rules laid out by the founders of their legions. As a result, the Roman faction is much more warlike than the Greek faction is. Much like the Greeks however, the Roman demigods are able to speak both English and Latin, but prefer to converse in English.

The Romans in modern day North America control the Western Seaboard, with their capital villa (Praetoria) being located just outside of Los Angeles. The Faction functions much like an Ancient Roman legion combined with Ancient Roman society, with the multitude of cohorts functioning across their territory and garrisoning the various Villas, however the Faction's leadership resides in Praetoria.

The mysterious Establishment is a demigod faction that is rarely seen in modern day North America. However, there have been reports that members of the Establishment have been spotted at various places around North America, with their intentions clearly hostile to both the Romans and Greeks. Whether if it is raiding/ambushing patrols or sabotaging quest attempts, no one understands their true motivations and goals in North America. Regardless, these demigods are extremely dangerous and should either be fought or avoided when spotted.

The Hunters of Artemis
"I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis. I turn my back on the company of men, accept eternal maidenhood, and join the Hunt."

The Hunters of Artemis are gifted with excellent ranged capabilities and hunting skills, possess eternal youth as long as they do not die in battle or break their vows of rejecting boys, and immensely enjoy hunting at Artemis' side. They hunt monsters and whatever else they see fit. They are her maidservants, her companions, and her sisters in arms. They are however sworn to be a Hunter forever and to be an eternal maiden. Because of this, many of the Hunters have a great hatred for males and dread even travelling with them.

If a Hunter falls in love, Artemis will remove their immortality and may turn them into an animal, depending on her discretion. The other possible way to lose immortality is to die in battle. They are often mistaken for Amazons, only the Amazons are allowed to fall in love and do not worship a certain goddess individually. The Hunters do not have a set place in North America, but rather wander, following Artemis. As well, they are one of the exceptions to the Truce and are either ignored or considered neutral by the Romans & the Greeks (though they are attacked by the Establishment from time to time).

Application

Postby Ontorisa » Wed Apr 26, 2017 6:37 pm

Application

*Keep it simple. 2016 Demigods tend to run around in regular clothes with their weapons at the side. Only in actual battles do they wear traditional Celestial Bronze/Imperium Iron armour.

*Try not to make your characters too over powered please. As well, I'd like for the demigods to have various Godly parents instead of everyone simply gunning for Zeus/Jupiter or Poseidon/Neptune. I will place limitations on some if we have an excess number.

*We will start once we have a minimum of 5 Greek and 5 Roman demigods - OP & Co-OP characters do not count to this minimum
Greek 8/5; Roman 4/5

Delete everything in parenthesis please.

Biography

Born in Bangor, Maine to Thomas Hoffman and Athena, throughout Anthony's life, he has known only running away. Despite the strength of Tartarus when he was born, Anthony was ruthlessly pursued by various monsters, notably the Actaeon Dogs. Even though sometimes Anthony would contact his father when he was safe in a shelter, he knew in his gut that it could not go on like this. Eventually, Anthony was found by two Greek Demigods in the back streets of Boston, who offered to take him the the Greek Hamlet of Olympus near New York City (not to be confused with Mount Olympus). Despite being too young to be taken into the Hamlet, the rules were slightly bent since Anthony had come a long ways. Arriving in Olympus, Anthony quickly felt at home, despite the age difference between himself and everyone else at the hamlet.

Once Anthony turned 17, he was immediately claimed Athena and was pushed right into demigod training. Since he was the son of Athena, Anthony joined the Athena Group and was initiated quickly, being tossed into sword fighting despite lacking prior experience. Thankfully, Anthony did decently and began to learn more about the Art of Sword Fighting. Growing at an immense rate, Anthony was eventually sent on his first quest along with an Apollo demigod and a Poseidon demigod, to seek and slay the reformed Amphisbaena. Alarmingly, these three demigods managed to slay the beast, sending its soul back to Tartarus while suffering limited wounds and scratches.

Only recently has Anthony's influence grown in the Greek Faction, becoming a member of the War Council, despite not being the Head of the Athena Group.

Biography

Born in Houston, Texas to an Italian man studying to be a doctor using the city's fine medical resources, Alessandra would be the bastard result of Luca's wanton college fun between his medical studies. Pulled back to Italy when she was but a couple of years old, Alessandra does not remember much of her time in Texas. Growing up without a mother, but with a relatively wealthy and stable father, she led a mixed life somewhere between the street gangs and the middle class, often carrying a stiletto-inspired switchblade, popular in Italy, to defend herself in an otherwise mostly normal life. This pattern of brief encounters with danger and returns to normalcy would continue until she turned 17.

On week or two after her 17th birthday, Alessandra had made a return to Texas with her father, who knew what was coming. Athena claimed the young woman, and her father led her where she needed to go, trying to explain the situation as a whole. Things were rather confusing for the child, but after enough drilling and questioning, it seemed to be the only answer she got. Upon arriving at the camp, her father gave another goodbye and gave her his hopes to see her soon. She was given an introduction to everything in Greek, due to her lack of skills in English, and pushed into training. Although she proved to be inadequate at phalanx warfare and wielding heavy bronze, she demonstrated a great amount of skill in a dodgier and lighter style of fighting, which she attributed to her skill with a knife and the camp staff attributed to her being a peltast.

She faced more than a few suspicions from others around the area, mostly concerning her Italian heritage. She had faced rumors of being a Roman in disguise, although she would repeatedly work to quell such rumors. By her 18th birthday, she was mostly fluent in English, and the questions as to her authenticity had ceased. By her 19th birthday, she could speak English very well, and could even speak without a strong accent. Her fighting style had been embraced, and she had been given the lighter equipment of a peltast: a wicker shield and leather armor, in contrast to the heavy bronze.

One, two, there were like four of these, about two of these, the original form of this, maybe a couple of these, only one set in the modern world, this one was pretty fun, and some more.

That's about 13 examples if you count the spinoffs and reboots of those that I didn't list, and that's just from the top of my head.

Basics

Name: Asmund Susi
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Appearance: A muscular build,
red hair (Yes, I know the picture has a different color), a Mjölnir pendant around his neck, and a tattoo of Yggdrasil on his left pec.

Ethnicity: German-Finnish
Nationality: American
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 185 lbs

Demigod Information

Godly Parent: Bellona
Equipment: Imperial Iron Danish Axe reinforced with traces of Celestial Bronze and embroidered with various designs, Imperial Iron Trondheim sword, Wooden circular shield, and Imperial Armor chainmail
Powers: Berserker- Asmund has the ability to enhance strength, speed, and reaction time for a short period of time that allows him to overpower opponents much more powerful than he is. The only drawback to this is that once the effects wear off, Asmund is depleted of almost all of his energy, leaving him vulnerable for quite some time until he can recover.
Skills: Strength- Asmund's strength is unparalleled among the Demigods, which he takes advantage of with the weight of his axe that can cut through even the toughest of opponents

Miscellaneous

Personality: Asmund is a fairly sociable guy, often joking around with others and playing practical jokes on those unfortunate enough to be targeted by him. However, when angered, Asmund's emotions are nearly uncontrollable, to the point that even his own allies have to be careful of what they say and do lest they meet his wrath.
Strengths: Physically Strong and Physically Tough
Weaknesses: Quick To Anger and Easily Tricked
Fears: Heights
Likes: Sailing, Lifting, Sports, and Norse Mythology
Dislikes: Cowardliness and Cockiness
Ambitions: Bringing honor to his mother
Family: Bellona (Mother) and Matti Sisu (Father)
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Biography

The son of Matti Sisu, a former United States Army Ranger who later worked as a private military contractor, and a woman who, unbeknownst to Matti, the Roman war goddess Bellona, Asmund was destined for conflict in his life. With the disappearance of his mother shortly after his birth as well as his father's constant trips to conflict-ridden places across the world, Asmund was forced to learn how to care for himself from a young age. While most children would've turned to drugs, sex, and alcohol, Asmund instead placed his passion in competitive powerlifting, winning several competitions along the way. While in school, he performed exceedingly well in every kind of physical sport available, from wrestling, hockey, football, and rugby. He was also known as a savior to the less socially-fortunate students at his school, as anyone caught trying to bully others by Asmund were lucky to be able to walk home afterward.

When the time to graduate high school came upon Asmund, a variety of different opportunities were laid before him as his physical prowess caught the attention of many athletic recruiters. However, Asmund decided to follow his passion with powerlifting and began to train to compete in the Olympics as a powerlifter.

However, his world was turned upside down when he was given two pieces of equally dramatic news. The first was that his father had been killed overseas during one of his contracts, leaving Asmund a rather large sum of money to do with what he pleased, although his grief for his loss prevented any sort of happiness. The second piece of news was that his mother had returned to not only meet him, but to explain that he was, in fact, half-human and half-god, a demigod. Her mother had fallen in love with her father, a man who's lineage could be traced to the Vikings of Scandinavia, and after Asmund's birth, she disappeared from their lives, as was the custom of the Gods, although she always kept an eye on the two.

Both of these revelations were too much for Asmund, and he lost control of himself. By the time he'd finally regained control over himself, several buildings and various properties in his hometown were severely damaged and even destroyed by Asmund's uncontrollable fury. While the mortals claimed it was a freak blizzard that caused the damage, Asmund feared that he'd be found out.

Thus, at the beckoning of his mother, Asmund traveled south to where his mother had described a place where people like him resided. Eventually, Asmund found himself alone at what should have been a busy bus stop. It was then when two figures approached him, instructing him that he was to follow them. Not knowing what else to do, he complied.

It turned out that these people were indeed like him, children of the Gods. They fought against the various monsters and beings that Asmund had thought to have been only stories. They were scattered throughout the United States, where they trained and lived together in isolated communities away from the mortal world. Asmund was to join their ranks, and with no other place to call home, he obliged.

A year and a half later, Asmund has now become a full-fledged member of the Legion, albeit with his own quirks to him. While most of the Legion fought with the traditional weaponry of the Ancient Romans, Asmund decided to call upon his ancient roots and fitted himself as the Vikings of old did. Due to this uniqueness, Asmund was often used as more of an Auxillary type troop within his Cohort, being used to crash through enemy positions and take on the tougher enemies.

Hubris of the Gods Application

Basics

Name: Cordelia
Age: 23 (Looks younger)
Gender: Female
Appearance: (Pics are recommended, but descriptions are welcome as well) http://i.imgur.com/dJPxZEX.jpg
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Nationality: German
Height: 5 feet 1 inch
Weight: 125 pounds

Demigod Information

Godly Parent: (if your demigod is Roman, use the Roman name. Vice versa for Greeks) Mars
Equipment: dual-wielded Roman Gladius swords
Powers: (Must be linked to the Godly parent. Also the maximum limit to this is 2) Above-human Strength. Her status as a daughter of Mars gave her increased strength to make it easier for her to fight.
Skills: Well practiced with her Gladius, quite agile.

Miscellaneous

Personality: While she prefers not to get hurt, she can also become recklessly brave when either pressured into it or when she becomes quite vexed.
Strengths: Functions better in a cool or temperate climate, can deal some damage with her sword.
Weaknesses: Dislikes warm temperatures.
Fears: Insects, Fire
Likes: Anime-related merchandise, walking in wintry woods, listening to music, fighting
Dislikes: Annoying people, Greek Demigods.
Ambitions: To Fight for the glory of Mars.
Family: Mars (Father)
Sexuality: Bisexual

Biography

Born into a German Family in the Harz Mountains, Cordelia was pretty happy for most of her life. However, she was mostly confined to her family's castle, due to their introverted fears about her physical quirks. Cordelia didn't much care about this, but soon she got interested in the concepts of warfare and combat. She did so much research into this that she caught the attention of Mars, whom she was actually descended from. She was intrigued by this, since she had always kept her disproportional strength a secret from her parents.

She also found the existence of the Roman Gods interesting, and found it preferable to her boring static life in the castle. She asked to go with Mars, and he agreed, taking her back to a Roman Villa to give her he training she needed. Nowadays she's still relatively inexperienced, but is also quite handy in combat. One quirk about her is that she loves buying anime-related merchandise, which has made her an oddity among the other demigods.

Ambitions: None, yet, though mainly he just wants to survive and live away from all the death and lying.
Family: His father is dead, and has no other mortal family.

Biography He was a normal child for the most part, except for being an Orphan, his father, who was an Attorney in LA was killed when he was younger. Like many other Demigods he was able to use his abilities from birth, his however were passive and always active. He didn’t have many friends in the Orphanage he was taken to after his father died. This is because he always ratted the other kids out whenever he was asked if they did anything. He didn’t want to but he was incapable of lying, literally. Despite this he was still able to have a decent childhood, atleast until he turned 14 and entered highschool.

During high school his life was much the same, but he had a few friends. His life was good, but then he started seeing monsters more frequently. He had always seen atleast a few, some were hostile others not, at the time he didn’t realize his presence was what was drawing them to the area. At first it was only a few of them, all of different types. There was this one dark spirit that had been following his group around. He and a friend were attacked, the friend was eaten. A group from the Roman camps showed up and killed the Lastrygonians that had captured him. He has been with them ever since.

Either way, tag.

oh ho, if you did app for a God/Goddess I'd reject it without hesitation.

I meant for demigods. Are characters only allowed to be children of the list provided or can we make characters of other Roman-Greco Gods?

Thank you Shadow for understanding what I meant.
