You'll have a lovely diplomat to tut tut your prison labour, too :P.

Nah, the diplomat we sent you alongside your Lunar friend is as politically radical as the rest of us, but she became so after turning coat as a Republican lobbyist, so you'll all be an improvement from her usual company. Arjuna knows how to pick his middle-men.

Actually, I should be able to avoid prison labor for a bit longer, provided there are more colonists in year six for hire. I should be so lucky.

I claimed the mining equipment from the crash, btw. Sytris Major Planitia is only 2 regions away, so I got there on turn 3 with 1 movement left.

Oh? Do you have a military base to train units?

Also, we could only dispatch units year four, apparently.

Is that necessary? Didn't someone send a rover more or less by itself?

Also, since Lunar Investments arrive from the moon, could we sell them without a spaceport?

Apparently. Only trained military units.

That's the reason I bothered to buy a rover- since I could train men to send with it to salvage the wreck.

Year seven is going to be a satisfying one for me, and for Utica. I may have to hire prison labour to do it, but they'll serve as a stopgap until better replacements can be found/acquired.

Units, trained and maintained by military colonies are required to take stuff from the crash site.

Finally. Hey Hark, when would the Megacorps and Republic send out tasks and missions for their subjects to do? I'm looking to improve relations as a loyal subject of Megacorps.

Although the clock is in range of 2050 - 2059, some events are to take place in between.

More colonists are to be made available in 2056 (Every 3 years is the pattern)
Dust storms will hide troop movements from 2057 (Telegram them to me instead)
New mechanics to simplify loans in 2060 (cause that's when paying back to earth starts)

Personally that's why I don't rush ahead- events can dramatically change what people do.

What are the other colonists like Indians and Prisoners good for anyway when you can just hire your own colonist for free?

Those free colonists are only available at the start of the game.

Start of the game as in Turn 1? So, are they unavailable to hire OR available to hire but no longer free after the start of the game?

The former- that's why the Colonization drive was an event put on par with a free Wind Turbine. Starting colonists are very powerful, but limited.

Oh, that reminds me Hark- do we have to assign IP to projects turn by turn, or is it cool to just have a liquid pool of IP be spend from?

What's the point of making them when you can't have them later on, then? That's stupid imo. They should still be available, but now comes with a price.

I think it's basically a "choose your own starting bonus" thing. Plus Hark has mentioned that if you improve the living conditions in your particular colony, better colonists might be available to you alone.

Darn it. So we only get 1 of our starting colonist, or are we allowed to hire them as long as their status are still 'Available'?

Well, its one starting colonist, but you can get an extra starting colonist from year 2051's popular support event.
