The War to End All Wars. (World War I Strategy RP)

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

The year is 1913. July 1913. Tensions between the world powers are rising. 2 factions have formed. The Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente. The Central Powers vs. the Allies. Europe has become a ticking time bomb for war, a war the likes of which the world has never seen. The warfare was spread across 3 continents. Millions will die. The first truly Global War.

In 1870, German forces defeated the French in the Franco-Prussian War. German military forces lead a parade down Paris. A scene not forgotten in the minds of France. Soon after, France began preparing for war. Germany followed soon after. Both planning an offensive war. Both sides saw the need for allies early. German finding allies in Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. France its allies in the United Kingdom and Russia. Caught in the middle were the smaller European states that quickly began allying themselves to different sides. War seems all but inevitable as 1914 rolls around. Then... everything stops. Every state, every leader waiting. Waiting for the spark that would set Europe aflame.

In the European Colonies, all around the world, the news of war soon lead to the rise of militias and ragtag and regular army units forming together in preparation of the coming war. A war that no one expected would ever be as long or as brutal as it was. A war that was caught between time periods. One that left millions dead, and millions more wondering why and how this could happen. The results leading only to yet another war of even greater proportions. Yet, at this time. In 1914. No one new this. No one expected what would happen next. What happened next was: The War to end all Wars.

I am considering joining as the French, but I would like to ask whether we can introduce alternate-history into our countries? The only reason I am asking that is because I don't want silly French blue uniforms.

As long as its not too crazy im alright with it, we are starting in 1914 so you can probably switch out the uniforms in that time.

That's understandable... Basically what Dentali said. However, basic facts will remain... Like as far as tech goes. No tanks in 1914 for example.

Are we going to keep the WWI theater just to Europe, or are we looking at conflicts across the globe? I'm fine with either; I'd just like to know before I apply.

Yes. Just a sample. SO that I can officially accept you. You can write about whatever, idc. Could be your first post. Just making sure that you can follow the rules and keep to a good standard of writing, and the minimum of 2 paragraphs per post.

On the surface of the barren, desert planet...

Then, as the scaly lizard disappeared into the sand, and the landscape returned to a dead, lifeless desert wasteland, the Admiral turned and ran off the bridge in his impeccable white suit, breaking into a jog as he turned the corner and hurried into an awaiting lift, descending through the decks of the ship at remarkable speed towards the Landing Deck, an open hall where through an opened landing hatch, the desert world outside awaited, the air fresh and rich in oxygen. He continued forward from the opening doors of the lift, down the ramp and into the open, the sound of wind whistling over the dunes around him, and the harsh sun's rays beating down on him from the deep blue, cloudless sky. The heat was harsh and unbearable, and he wondered how anything could survive the brutal daytime temperatures of this hellhole. He was about to be answered, because through his communication chip, he received a notification from Scanner that the system had detected other signs of carbon-based life closing in on his position, and the soldiers around him, also receiving the message, readied their weapons to encounter the arriving creatures. They formed a protective perimeter around him, and the entire landscape went silent. Then, the Admiral heard the crunch of movement as something approached the ship, something alive. Footsteps, almost. Then, as the sound got closer and closer from within the maze of sand dunes in front of him, he saw a small figure, no larger than a child, its face obscured by a worn cloth hood and robes obscuring its entire body from the head to the feet, turn around the dune and look directly at the soldiers, who trained their weapons on the approaching creature. You couldn't see its face, nor its body, all covered up by its tattered robes. Then, it let out a hideous shriek, which continued, until a soldier fired on the creature, the bolt of his laser absorbing into the alien and killing it, instantly. It twitched as it collapsed to the floor, and then went still. He was acting on orders from the Admiral, who had no regrets when he saw the creature die and go still.

He then watched as two soldiers went up, seized the creature, rolled it onto a stretcher brought from the landing hall, and then the Admiral turned to return to his position on the bridge. His officers stared at him, unsure about what to say to the Admiral. He returned to the position on the bridge, looking out through the glass windows, considering what this planet may have to offer and what to do next. He stared through the glass at the desolate sandy landscape, and then turned to face the bridge and the crew managing the ship, the officers, the lieutenants, and the engineering crew who was at work repairing a broken server system.

Considering that we don't have much of a global scale on this thing, should we just focus on Germany's Western front? I can change to meet that end (I'm thinking Denmark or Belgium or something), but at least we won't need tons of players in order to play a well-rounded RP. We've already got the power players on the Western front already.

I don't think the OP or the Co-OP will drop out. From my record, you know that I'm fiercely against dropping out of things, and I think we can get by/replace France if he drops out.
