- Near Superhuman Condition: With an astonishing HP of 666,666 and an ATK of 66,666 Gaster exceeds even the stats of Underground King Asgore Dreemurr, essentially making Gaster one of the most powerful of all the monsters in the Underground which is also demonstrated during his battle against Chara. However, while he is one of the strongest monsters in the Underground he is as physically capable as DC Universe's Bruce Wayne, AKA Batman.
- Magic: Originating from an Undertale Universe, W.D Gaster's primary powers revolve around the manipulation of SOUL Magic, an essence of power that flows within the souls of both monster and humankind in the Undertale. However, as the father of both Sans and Papyrus, Gaster has access to a specialized form of magic exclusive to his family.
- Levitation: Through his Magic, Gaster has the ability to float in midair, although this is possible that through his time in the Void that Gaster has learned this ability.
- Teleportation: Like his son Sans, Gaster has the ability to teleport long distances as long as he is aware of it's location.
- Bone Magic/Manipulation: As stated before, a power usually reserved for those in his family, W.D Gaster has the ability to both summon bones and manipulate them however to his liking. However, through his extensive knowledge in this form of Magic, Gaster has refined this ability to the point where he can summon seven floating hands that align to both a form of ability and color, all of which stand in line with his original Glitchtale powerset:
- Ability Mimicry: One of Seven Hands, Gaster's Purple Hand allows him to essentially mimic the current ability being used by his foe, although it has only been shown that Gaster can only replicate basic attacks such as energy-based attacks.
- Blade Projection/Manipulation: The Second of his Seven Hands, Gaster's Blue Hand has the ability to summon magical circular blue blades that can be used as projectiles against his enemy. In combination with his Teal Hand, Gaster can freely manipulate the direction in which these blades go.
- Explosion Manipulation/Volatile Constructs: The Third of Seven Hands, Gaster's Orange Hand technically has two abilities that fall into the same category. Using his magic in conjunction with this hand, Gaster has the ability to create medium pellet sized spheres which he can then detonate them of his own accord, causing damage around a localized vicinity.
- Energy Beam Emission: Similar to the Gaster Blaster, Gaster's Fourth Hand and more specifically the Red Hand has the ability to generate a beam of energy that can harm his enemy.
- Energy Bullet Projection: The Fifth of his Seven Hands, Gaster's Yellow Hand has the ability to fire a barrage of energy bullets in order to either harm an individual enemy or a group of enemies.
- Energy Shield Construction: His Six out of the Seven Hands in his arsenal, Gaster's Green Hand as the ability to both generate a shield to defend himself from attacks and also use this to contain his foes within this barrier.
- Energy String Manipulation: Last and certainly not least, Gaster's Seventh Hand, the Teal Hand has the ability to generate up to five teal energy strings for a variety of purposes. When used in conjunction with his Blue Hand, Gaster can direct the blades from this Blue Hands in any direction he desires.
Weaknesses:
- A very important weakness that should be noted: Gaster's Seven Hands can be destroyed if they are directly harmed or enough pressure is put on them that results in the hand cracking before shattering away in it's entirety.
- While he does have the ability to manipulate bones to his liking, this ability is only restricted to those that he has summoned. It should also be noted that in order to use ordinary Bone Magic that his two children can use, Gaster is required cease using his seven materialized hands in order for him to summon any bones.
- Even though it is able to both protect himself and even contain his enemies, Gaster's Green Hand can be destroyed if enough force and pressure is put on the barrier, resulting in the destruction of said hand.
- In the event that one of Gaster's floating hands is destroyed, The time varies on how long it takes to mend his magic and recreate the destroyed hand, this dependency is based on how many hands have already been destroyed by his foe.
- If Gaster desires to teleport, he must have knowledge about the location that he is teleporting to, a weakness that is also demonstrated by his son Sans.
- Gaster is also restricted in the sense that he is very much incapable of Universal Teleportation with his powers, as at this moment that traveling the distance between the Moon and the Earth would put a noticeable drain on Gaster's magic.
- While Gaster's Purple Hand can only mimic an active power being used by a person, It should also be noted that abilities that are either difficult or impossible to mimic, the purple hand is unable to copy that same power.
- Abilities that the Purple Hand copies are not permanent and are determinant on the power being used.
Noteworthy Equipment:
- Green Determination Pill: Prior to falling into the Void, Gaster managed to produce a supply of Green Determination Pills extracted from the carrier of the Green Soul. In order to prevent himself from falling susceptible to the Amalgamation Process that ordinary monsters unintentionally underwent due to the overbearing power of Determination, Gaster diluted the pills enough so that he could safely consume them. While limited in supply, these pills can heal damage that Gaster has sustained in a battle. Gaster currently has up to two dozen of these Determination Pills, in which he will place a dozen in his quarters on the Hub and carry the other Dozen on his person at all times.
- Gaster's Journal: Throughout his career as a Royal Scientist, Gaster has almost always kept a Journal near him whenever he needed to write down notes for reference, or just as a personal log of notable events. Usually Gaster can be seen occasionally reading this journal or writing down some form of notes or logging some of his daily events.
Personality:
As the former Royal Scientist of the Underground, Gaster has a profound interest with technologies that have either never been used in the Underground, or technologies that he has learned about, but never had the tools necessary to build them. Also, as a result of raising both Sans and Papyrus (I'm using a Dadster background for Gaster), Gaster usually has a soft spot for children but is not above harming them if they knowingly represent a threat to those around them. At first, Gaster may appear as a stern and serious person, but this is due to his reserved nature around strangers. As he gets to know the people around him, Gaster allows his emotions to show, which depicts him as a kind and somewhat carefree man when relaxed.
When he is in the midst of combat, Gaster almost always has a level headed approach to situations, but when something or someone important to Gaster is within the line of fire, he takes a serious demeanor and will kill if necessary to protect those close to him. However, when someone close to him has fallen in the field of battle to an enemy, Gaster becomes the very epitome of tranquil fury, remaining in absolute control of his feelings, but allow fury to fuel his resolve to continue fighting until he is physically incapable of continuing, or his foe has fallen.
Backstory:
Once the Royal Scientist in service to King Asgore Dreemurr, W.D Gaster is the father of Sans and Papyrus as well as the lead designer of The Core, a massive facility designed to absorb the thermal energy of the Underground in order to provide a power source to the citizens of the Underground. While also being the lead designer of The Core, Gaster was also focused on raising his children through the busy schedule of his life. While much about his history has been forgotten to most, at one point in time Sans had requested to apply as a scientist, something that Gaster was all too eager to help prepare for his son. Through asking King Asgore if Sans could be allowed to work alongside him, Sans would undergo the application process for Assistant Scientist.
To Gaster's delight, Sans had passed the application process, essentially becoming Gaster's aide while he worked diligently on the continued design plans and production of The Core. As pressure began to mount on the demand of The Core, Gaster was forced to allocate more time to the project and less on his children, an act that somewhat began to strain the relationship between Gaster and Sans, but never to the point where the two would argue. One day however, disaster struck, during a routine test of The Core's power activation process, The Core would overload, generating a short lived portal into what would then be known simply as The Void, with Gaster falling into his own creation seemingly forever being scattered throughout Space and Time, but not before saying one thing to his son Sans "Never Forget".
While it is unknown if Sans truly forgot about his father, Gaster's fall into The Void resulted in all known memories of his existence being forgotten to almost everyone in the Underground, but also offered an advantage to Gaster for his SOUL Magic had been altered to allow him to dish out physical damage alongside his normal Soul Damage capabulities. Forever damned to be scattered throughout Space and Time, Gaster was forced to witness the continued resets of his timeline and eventually, forced to witness the faithful battle between his now grown up son Sans, and the Chara, The Fallen Human who had managed to possess the body of Frisk during a Genocide Route.
Although through some miracle that Frisk was able to free themselves from the influence of Chara, fusing with Sans and being able to defeat The Fallen Human, Gaster became interested by this development, wondering if he was able to absorb the soul of Frisk would he be able to return back to the physical realm. While he attempted to absorb the soul of Frisk, later failing and being defeated by Sans. It was apparent that destiny had an interesting fate in mind for the Man who Speaks in Hands, as he would later be revived by Sans in order to battle against Chara, The Fallen Human once more, who had drained the Determination out of Frisk using the Determination Extraction Device. Eventually, through the help of Asriel Dreemurr, Chara had successfully been converted from her corruptive evil, giving the remnants of their soul to Asriel so that he too may have a physical body.
Upon being freed from the Underground however, Gaster was nowhere to be found. While unknown to most, Gaster had attempted to teleport to a location now forgotten to most when a disturbance in the Space-Time Continuum resulted in Gaster being transported to a location far from his home.
